Oh, Bioware. You just can't help yourselves, can you? Still being needlessly passive aggressive ("our most passionate fans"; "we stand behind our artistic vision"), still insinuating that those of us unhappy with your ending are just too stupid to understand it ("to provide further clarity and closure"), and still completely missing the point while blaming us for your failure to deliver.
I've said this endlessly since the game dropped, and I'll continue to say it:
No amount of clarity alone will fix this.
None.
No amount of clarity alone will fix the fact that your ending, as it stands, is thematically and tonally divorced from the rest of the series.
No amount of clarity alone will fix that nothing Shepard does in the preceding three games matters at all.
No amount of clarity alone willl fix that Shepard just gladly goes along with ideas that s/he has demonstratively proven false.
Further, you do not get to claim "artistic integrity" and insinuate that it exempts your work from criticism. That's not how this works. If you had made this game solely for yourselves, sure. Stick by your guns. But you didn't. You made it for mass consumption and with the claim that it was made in "collaboration with the fans". That changes the rules. Extensively. (More on that in this lovely article: doycetesterman.com/index.php/2012/03/mass-effect-tolkein-and-your-bullshit-artistic-process/)
So, with all due respect, Bioware? Shove it.
Well said! Hear hear!

Pretty much this.
They can choose to try to defend their mistakes to the end and be as condescending to fans (clarification, disgusting) as they like, and I can choose not to pay for any of their products ever again.

Not exactly what I was hoping to hear, but Bioware might be able to pull this off after all.

ME3 Extended =Fans hate the current ending, ask for a new one. As the result of one of the biggest ****storms in video game history: Add a few ending scenes. Be happy it's free
Witcher 2 Extended =Fans like the ending, just wish it was longer, no ****storm whatsoever. Result: Add weapons, entire new quest branches, fixes, Arena combat, extended final act (Wasn't even that bad of a final act, few complaints. Nothing compared to ME3. They still wanted to please fans though), new cutscenes, new difficulty. Free.
Bolded are added by me.

The blog Q&A is more about pride than artistic integrity. It's about pride. Lots and lots of pride. Casey Hudson and Mac Walters are so ego-involved in the ending they created they simply will not acknowledge that they failed. They failed as writers, they failed as artists, they failed as stewards of the Mass Effect universe.
This.
It saddens me that in the end, they couldn't swallow their pride, and valued it over the feelings of their fans.
Not to mention how they'd rather soil the stunning work of the countless other developers, voice actors etc, than to man up and offer an honest apology. What a frikkin sad day.

In all honesty, this is all we can ask of BioWare at this point. Granted, not everyone is necessarily okay with an extended ending, but the devs can only do so much. The way I see it they could have completely ignored fans and stuck to the original ending, but they're showing that they still care about our input enough to acknowledge it.
Have a little faith that BioWare won't drop the ball on us again. They're taking a huge step towards making nice with the fans with this DLC, I think they've earned a reservation of judgement.

Extremely Annoying
And as for Bioware:
Blatantly Idiotic "Overlords" With Restrained Employees
No offense to the actually intelligent employees who got forced into this hellhole by the higher-ups. That is to say, any of the writers who had absolutely nothing to do with the ending. Scratch that, make that everyone who had nothing to do with the ending or the other terrible "artistic" (photoshop) areas of the game. Hope that if/when this goes belly up, you guys can find a good job somewhere else. I pity you guys.

I'm sure the new cinematics will show her broodmother status on the garden planet. For all the males on the crew.

I'm taking a cautiously optimistic stance for now. Adding additional cinematics and epilogue scenes can do a lot if done right. If it adds significant length and and is different for each ending (and i mean real distinction here) it can help a lot with the endings being too similar for example. Additional epilogue scenes can bring closure to characters, and even show Shepard reunited with his/her LI if alive.
Exactly. Exactly this. It can be played out many different ways. They just have to do it right. And we have to wait and see, which is killer right now
