No amount of polish can make that ending acceptable. It needs to be undone and never mentioned again.

i will say something...

if i want an epic story where i'm only spectator, i will read a book or look a movie. it's an art, i'm ok with this.
but the art in the video game is far different, not only the spectator become actor, but he can shape the story at will with the choice it will make. the art in this is not to decide for the player, but to offer the possibility to the player to feel part of this. to enjoy, be sad, be angry, because of him choice and how the story evolve.

where in the book and the movie, the story is linear you go from A to B with one and only one path.
in the video game rpg it will be far different. you can go from A to B but you can too go to C if you decide.

where bioware have maybe loose of sight the important part.... is this video game is not made like a book or a movie, it was never made in this goal and will never be like this.

sorry for the poor english but well

Do you realize what we've done? Even if we're not getting a completely new ending, we managed to shake the foundation of a huge developer and an even larger corporation so hard that they actually responded and reacted accordingly. We weren't a majority, we were always a vocal minority, and this shows the power that the people can have. I'm extremely excited for this, and even if the ending doesn't wow me as much as I want it to, I will give BioWare extreme respect for listening.

You know what, you are right. It's awesome that you pointed this out. It is the exact thought I had at the whole Kony 2012 thing. Power is shifting, because we all have a voice now. Sure, most of the time the voices are distorted and meaningless, but when it comes to the big things, we manage to make ourselves heard.

Power to the people. On that note, thank you and goodnight.

Im fine with this choice, cant wait for it actually. As long as those epilogues reflect my choices ill be fine with it.

Never wanted them to change the endings, best case scenario i wanted them to add endings to it, never take the ones that are available, and most importantly, epilogues.

Thou, i must admit, i am anxious to see them trying to plug up those massive plotholes such as the Normandy, that will be a feat im not sure anyone can accomplish XD

Hi. Can somebody put up a link for that tweet from Jessica regarding Shepard reuniting with his/her teammates? I know there's a picture of it, but I'd like a url address if possible. Thanks!

"You're getting more of our amazing starchild vision. We're adding some dialogue-free cutscenes and text walls to explain how right our plothole-filled mess is. It's free because we're not really doing much and we're not changing anything in-game, but it's going to take us until "sometime in Summer" because goodwill is more valuable than the further disappointment you'll have when you realize this is all you're getting. Until then, we're going to make it sound awesome so maybe you guys will be relieved enough that our Aria DLC won't be take too big of a hit in sales."

Yeah that was another huge lowpoint. Aria was there for the sole purpose of selling DLC and she told us exactly what that DLC would be.

And I'll buy it because I'm a big pushover but I'll be hearing them snickering the entire time while they carefully count their new ten bucks.

No amount of clarification can explain "Star Brat" or the nonsensical "created will always destroy the creator", I'm sorry but this proves to me that I'm done with BioWare since I can no longer trust a thing they say.

I would like them to provide new audio for Caspar and use Bob Barker as the voice actor. At least I could laugh through the ending.

Since that disappointing ending I didnt even touch the game (which i intended to replay a zillion times), and didnt even play with SWTOR (though I have a 6 months subscribe). Sadly I can foresee how this DLC thingy will end.

I just cancelled my SWTOR account (that I haven't had the heart to play since finishing ME3). When cancelling I gave as the reason:

I am cancelling because of this:

http://blog.bioware....3-extended-cut/

BioWare will never get another penny of my money. A month ago I was the kind of BioWare fanboy who'd buy anything from your company, even if I knew nothing about it. I've played every one of your games going back to Baldur's Gate. And I'm the kind of gamer you want - 40, with too much entertainment money. The ME merch I bought from your store in days gone by can attest to this.

Your decision to not fix the utterly broken & poorly written ending of ME3, combined with the dismissive attitude you had toward your customer & the outright marketing lies you made about the game's ending in the months before release mean I simply cannot trust you.

So. Enjoy your artistic integrity. Hide behind your ego & pride, rather than admit that - as talented as you all are - you made a mistake. I realize my personal boycott won't really matter to your company, but there it is nonetheless.

Signing out,
A true hardcore former fan

They haven't listened to a word we've said here for the last month. The only voice I have left is my wallet.

If Jessica is right on this...I might be satisfied. I really, really dislike the Starchild. But, if I can give him the finger by picking the Destroy option, have Shep survive, reunite with his LI and teammates,  (possibly court-martial Joker), and end in a time of rebuilding (Show the mass relays being built and transition to Shep and Tali building a house on Rannoch for example)...then I would be okay with that.

Poor Edi and all, but maybe she can be rebuilt too. (Cue the Six Million Dollar Man theme music)

If this is true, it will go a long way towards making a better ending. Destroying the Relays with everyone trapped in Sol and your squad stranded on a desert planet was what really killed it for me.

Time to put the ME series away and let the scrap heap of time claim another. If I hear Hudson is in anyway part of the process for DA3 I will cancel my SWTOR account and walk away.

Just for fun, I decided to "clarify" the endings.

1. Control: READ: Shepard dies, the Reapers win.
2. Synergy: READ: Shepard is indoctrinated(he lives kinda) Reapers win
3. Destroy: READ: Shepard lives, Reapers die.

Before some of you get all nasty with me, this was an attempt at levity.
"Do you hear that humming?"

Glad that it's free. If it plugs the major plot holes, that's even better.

I believe that every "end" to shepards story should be unique depending on how they went through the game. My canon "Good-Guy Shepard" should have a noticeably different ending than my "Ditzy-blonde-who-kills-everyone Shepard". While I can accept that they have the 3 main "core" endings, there should be something in the extended cut to differentiate the 2. As of right now, both of them have the same options provided the EMS is high enough (which isn't hard if you're planet scanning AND playing MP). It truly felt like there was no pay off for uniting the galaxy (and saving squadmates throughout the series).

It's a good start, and I'm very happy to see they decided to make it free. (And while we don't have a fixed date yet, summer isn't bad, they do need a few months to work on it at least.) I'll withhold final judgement until I've downloaded it and seen it of course, but if it fills in some of the gaping plot holes, adds some scenes that makes it feel like your choices actually mattered and generally smooth out the rough edges I can accept it. IT probably still won't be the epic ending the story deserved, but I'll be able to accept it.

No.  We said we wanted a better ending and not just clarification. This appears to JUST be clarification, so of course it isn't good enough, and our position hasn't changed since the beginning

I can't believe they're throwing out words like 'artistic integrity' and weren't expecting to get criticised. What world do they live in that hiding behind those words means 'nothing you have to say matters because it's art so we're right and you're a huge moron for not getting it'. If you have to explain the meaning, there was no meaning in the first place, and even then, art is made for criticism.

i will think "W...Censored T.....Cesnsored... Censored again"
but whan the dlc is 500 megabyte or higher big, THEN i would download these dlc.

As I said in another thread in response to this:

She doesn't know what is going to be in the DLC.  Hasn't everyone heard
the saying "anything is possible?"  Well if Shep is POSSIBLY alive, then
Shep could POSSIBLY reunite with his love interest. They could POSSIBLY
build the mass relays, even if it takes 10,000 years and is 0.00001%
likely.  Hell, it's POSSIBLE that we will eventually be able to make
mass relays in real life, just very, very improbable.  These statements
are all just speculation, folks.

If the DLC reasonable explains how Glowboy isn't a deus ex machina who ends the game by essentially just forcing you to make a choice of three buttons to push while having absolutely no reason to trust Glowboy on any of them, I'll be happy.

If the DLC explains Miranda's clothes on the Citadel when she's supposedly in hiding aren't just the company either pandering or avoiding having to use resources to depict her as someone who actually doesn't want to be noticed at that moment, I will accept the company has artistic integrity.

This is good news.  Not the whole "change the ending" thing I'm sure some people were looking for, but hey, it's free, and I'm sure it will help fill a few holes in.

Hope it turns out great :)
