I'm still missing the part about "unethical". From what I understand about this glitch, it's just that; A "glitch".

Every game I play, I try to exploit every aspect of the game. I'm looking how to do things "better", "faster", more "efficiently". What makes a glitch difficult to define as cheating is that it's written into the very mechanics of the game, thus the whole "if I can do it, it's fine". There's no "modding" or "hacking" or "lag switching" going on. Just people playing the game as they're allowed to do so. Looking at all these little glitches, like the vanguard glitch, or the silver cerberus glitch where the troopers won't fall down from the ceiling in the refinery map; It's just code that's slipped through the cracks.

Discussions like this are good though. 100's of Thousands of players pushing the game to the limit, constantly trying to break it, and then reporting it here, helps a better patch to be made.

As to my feelings on it [shrugs], sounds like an awfully boring way to bone up your weapons for a non-competitive multiplayer game type where your advantage is simply allowing you to support your squad better. Sure, I'll have some gun envy when I meet the dude with the Crusader X but, eventually, if you actually plan on playing this game type long enough to get there, you will.

Seriously though... this is a very simple multiplayer game type. I mean, Halo Reach had this and more. It's still new so, it's got its following but, the next game is going to come out and this will just... phase away.

For example, the room in firebase white, with salarian engineers and quarrian infultrators on gold geth is an example of exploitation.

No that is not exploitation. That is called tactics.

It is clear you don't under stand how this particular glitch happens. I didn't want to know but I found out about it reading it on this forum, thankfully it was removed. Sadly, this sploit is super easy to do and requires no external programs to accomplish. This is something that requires a set up and multiple people to gain mad unintended amounts of creds and that my friend is a true exploit. This is not simply using game mechanics, but an honest to god glitch. I am really suprised they have not hot fixed this, which simply tells me BW don't care. /boggle

edit. you would think this be a top priority issue due to fact that it's effecting their store in which you can use RL money. EA hates losing money, so where's the fix?

Not sure BW can penalize them unless they get reported.

To me, it feels as such. It's one of the easiest ways to complete a Gold, I've found. Yeah, it's tactics, but its an exploitation of the AI's pathfinding in that they all funnel through to those to points of entrence. I'll admit it requires maybe a bit less finagling of the system but, an exploit all the same to me. And, just like the other one, it gets a bit tedious.

Sure, don't permaban them, just take away all their equipment and unlocks and reset them to level one.

Why on Earth would you not agree with a permaban? If a player is pro-actively searching for ways to exploit loopholes in games, then the chances are they do the exact same thing with any other game they play.

Ergo, they are cheaters. Cheaters don't deserve the right to play online and enjoy the MP experience in any way, shape or form. Simple.

I agree with this, as long as the banhammer is applied to the obvious repeat offenders, not just those who joined a game and didn't realize it was a round 10 exploit team until they were already involved.

im not sure about a full on ban but reseting all stats and weapons along with no resurgence dlc for repeat offendors sounds like a fitting punishment.

This glitch still requires you to play for hours and hours (which is what they want anyway) and theres still a good chance you wont get any n7s. People are still going to be tempted into buying spec packs as it only takes one person to spend a stupid amount on. It's not hurting anyone only people who are too high up on their horse to realize its all in good fun for a co-op game. Heck the people doing this are probably the ones carrying all the noobs that quickmatch gold.

What I WOULD like to see, however, is an official statement from BW and/or EA about it. My friend seems to think they're ignoring it inorder not to draw attention to it but, it's clearly plastered all over youtube and the forums. When I used to Admin and Mod MekWars servers back in the day, we had a clear policy against bug exploitation but those bugs had to first be found, defined and then clearly declared off limits. Anyone know if BW/EA has come out with any comments on the topic?

And if it IS an issue for them, as it's been said, it should be high priority during then next patch update. I don't like the idea of people being "banned" or otherwised punished for playing the game as it's coded.

noone will be banned... too many people did it... same thing with the battlefield 3 edo bot glitch... if it was a mod then people will be banned... but because it's a glitch and too many ea customers did it all that will happen is a patch... so quit your whining and wait for the patch... it will happen sooner or later.

Not exactly, it takes at least 2 people and it's a max of 45,000 credits in 4 minutes including loading times. Assuming you make it to the max of 45,000 each 4 minutes run it's about 1 mil in just under 90 minutes. (Which doesn't include the roughly 15 minutes start up time.) However it's done on Gold and to accomplish it people need to be able to get the objects done on wave 10, which not everyone is capable of doing.

so players should be punished for exploiting bioware's laziness in code development? the way i see it exploiting a glitch is just as minimal of a thing as the people who openly post threads about "farming geth on firebase white" which in my opinion is just as lame and low as glitch-exploiting. with a super-crappy RNG pack layout people are going to go for every extra pack they can get their grubby little hands on, wether it be from farming, using ms points, or exploiting glitches. you should be more angry at bioware for releasing a game that wasn't nearly ready to be shipped out yet instead...

I hate this, I was playing with some people and I didn't know thats what we were doing, and then they switch to gold and I was just like okay, I'll try out gold, I've never done it before, and then we end up doing this. I was quite upset, I've always played games to play them fairly and have fun earning the stuff, in my opinion, it's more fun that way, even if it's annoying and hard! I think mass effect needs a way to report players in game, as noone pays attention to the xbox ones

I was politely asked to when I joined a gold match today if I would like to participate. It was very very tempting but I am deathly afraid of being banned from playing ME3 online, and future ME games so I had to decline. Then left and attempted to join another gold game. Which happened to be on FB White, in that nice defensible position, and my teammates never left it, even when we had to do those timed objectives. So we lost on wave 6 against geth. Ugh.

^exactly this. It's way more fun to just play the game and earn stuff. You feel better after you unlock it, and it makes the game last a lot longer, so you actually make the $60 dollars worth it

According to the video that I found at the cheating forum, unless they are reported directly to EA/Xbox Live/PS3 services for cheating/exploiting, there is really nothing much that bioware/ea can do with the online feedback turned off.

It sucks, especially since I spent points to buy crates and will probably do so after the dlc.

Dead Mass Effect and BioWare staff. I have seen enough and now I am truly angry. (not at you, but at players) I have spent so much time playing your game and earned credits for multiplayer fairly. Today while I was playing the whole day, I have met over 12 players that had been doing the credit exploit/glitch to earn credits. I wanted to play Gold challange fairly, then I kept meeting noobs. They would get at average of 40000 Credits per 4 minutes.

I asked them and they told me that they had been doing such action for weeks and did not get caught. The told me "it's totally safe and also remember to turn off your online feedback" They even told me the millions of credits they made and how many Premium Specter Packs they already bought (one of them bought like 100 Premium Specter Packs already)

As a fan and a player who literary epent days playing and did use some real money (around 100 US) , I find this extremely unfair. I am just here to tell you that you must fix this and give out and online warning to all players. (like the update news on Oparations) Players who had been doing this think that BioWare is going to igonore this and that you deserver to be looked down. I don't know if you are aware of this. I joined the Forums recently, so I still don't know much of what is going on here.

I posted this for awareness, and I would also like to know your opinion and feedback. This is part of the multiplayer discusion, and it's serious.

Sincerely with Respect

Wow 100 bucks... insane.

In any case, once I saw the option to buy packs with real money I stopped caring about idiots that did. I still don't care. Give me a better ending, and I might start to care. A little. Okay I have nothing constructive to contribute so I'll just shut it.

I think they need to create a more sensible store before they go fixing the credit glitch. The reason people resort to the credit glitch, or Geth/White/Gold farming, is because the store is just that bad.

For the ones that argue that it's not a cheat because it's a repeatable bug written into the game. The matches are INTENDED to be 11 rounds including the extraction. Breaking that intent in the game design is cheating. Like some games that have seams in the walls that you can glitch into so you can shoot out but can't be shot.
