We haven't won.

We're still stuck with the same A/B/C, Red/Green/Blue ending bull**** instead of the 16 different endings we were promised. All we're getting is an expansion on the initial endings, but it's just polishing a turd.

HOLD THE LINE.

Doesn't feel like a victory to me.

The ending stays. Astro-Boy stays. All we get is some dialogue of techno-babble to try and justify how a beam of expanding light is able to knock up everyone in the galaxy with a toaster-oven. Image IPB

People who hate the ending for the plot-hole-ridden mess that it is will still hate it without a massive rehaul/retcon.
People who like the ending won't care. They might like it slightly more, I suppose.

Swing and a miss, Bioware. Image IPB

Oh dont worry, im sure Forbes will change its mind to support this decision once it realises the mob of the retake movement is against it. They want hits from you, trust me they will say everything you guys want to hear...

"If they start saying things like “I wanted the ending CHANGED not
EXPANDED,” they’re going to get slapped with the “entitled” and “whiny”
labels they hate so much. And at this point, I would finally agree with
that classification. This is a win for fans and a concession from
Bioware, plain and simple.
"

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Prepair the line RTM. Your supporters they will be leaving you.

Not sure about that: I figured the same thing that the author of the Forbes articles did: We're been put into check.

We asked for stuff.
EA gave us stuff.
We're saying stuff's not good enough
EA: "Hey, we tried, but there's just no pleasing them."

Ofocurse, factually, RetakeME3 is compeltely correct and has every right to claim that what BiowarEA does is not what RetakeME3 asked for. But, this is politics, this is the public debate, and here, it does not matter who is factually right, but how it appears.

And, how it appears, is that we asked for something, and now we're not happy when we got it.

Forbes is just trying to dip it's hands into a multi billion dollar market. Trying to get subscription numbers up. Now that they agree with you guys they are the go to magazine/website for sophisticated gamers.

Interesting article but it makes the presumption that the Extended Cut won't end up being even stupider or an outright insult. Wait and see.

Then I'm an entitled whiner. I don't care, and nor does anyone else. Entitled whiners have a lot of entitled, whiny money to spend and it's not going BW/EA's way in the future.

They can't care less, you can't and neither can I. Mass Effect is over, there's no reason to replay it. BW made me feel sh*t about something I admired, and I'm not the only one.

I'm just going to move on and play other games, fine by me, but I will never forget what they did here.

It makes the assumption that Bioware could not do anything else but this, being in the situation where they are in. And that, I doubt.

I have officially hit the indifference stage. The bit about maintaining the artistic vision sounds very much as though we may have some closure for characters, but there will still be a star child, still only red/green/blue, and still a grandpa and a kid. In other words it still sounds like our choices didn't amount to a whole lot. I'll try it, sure, but with every other response BW has given, I get the impression my patronage doesn't matter to this company. Its a pity Forbes didn't seem to see that perspective.

'Adding to the ending' can mean anything. If they are going to make it more personalized, then maybe there will be different variations that will allow for multiple endings, even though the main decision at the end will still be red, blue and green.

All I've ever wanted is more clarification on what they meant to convey. I ending sucks, and will always suck, but at least some plot holes will be filled in.

Its fun seeing people turning on forbes like this. Maybe they will "clarify" or expand the article if you guys whine about it enough

Anyone who actually thought they were going to re-write the ending was kidding themselves. I am someone who hates the ending, and thinks it was an awfully done ending. Trying its hardest to be "intelligently philosophical" and ended up being an incredibly shallow outlook on the ME series. Yet, I never wanted them to redo the ending, because I knew this is what we were going to get.

Also, anyone who thinks this is going to fix the fundamental problems of the ending, apparently dont understand what those "fundamental problems" are. This is going to make 2 groups happy:

Those who were fine with the ending, but wouldn't mind more and those who didnt like the ending and those who only dislike it because of a lack of closure.  They have essentially said this with out saying it verbatim, not sure what there is to argue about, TBQH.

That said Forbes is convering it like they should.  They understand this is the best it is going to get.

All I can do is hope that the ending DLC will contain more than what now seems to be the case.

THough, how anyone can be as egoistic as this, to not see how thier own decicions corrupt and malform, and even outright destroy their own creation, is beyond me. As an artist, there is nothing more important than art itself, the object, the message, and everything that intertwines and surrounds it. When so many good arguments arise that make clear that what you are doing simply is not in the best interest of what you are trying to do....it's beyond me how one can ignore that.

To be fair to Forbes, there are 3 different writers on this. Paul Tassi, the reasonable one, Kain, the short-sighted hit-seeking one, and a third I don't follow.

Tassi and the 3rd one call this a victory for the fans. Kain, predictably, doesn't, but still, he's not as outraged as to the Extended Cut as a lot of people who love to read him are. Take that as you will.

Depends on how they implement their extended cut.

too little information to go off of right now. though since they aren't going to do any drastic changes, I only see the indoctrination theory being a clean way out now.
