Ugh, I loved DA:O but I hate this game. I'm in the middle of Act 1 gathering money. Ie, doing boring and repetive side-quests. The combat is atrocious.
Does the game get more fun later on, or not? If it doesn't I'll just uninstall it and read about the plot on dragon age wikia.
Does Dragon age 2 get fun?

I'd say you are not likely to find the continuation any more fun. What you see is what you get.

yeah if you're not having fun now you it probably won't get better, but since you're already playing why not see the DeepRoads and finish Act 1. At least you will then see one of the HighLights of the game.

Yea, won't be much bother, the Deep Roads are just three rooms, ...or such.
(To really get the vitriol-glands flowing, slug through to the end of the game.)

This is inaccurate there's quite a few rooms. It just isn't as large as DAO. Maybe he's thinking of just part of a thaig.

If you bought the game you might as well pass it and save your save file for DA:3, maybe after you complete the game you might get in to it. My first play-through I was really pissed but I got over it. If you borrowed it than whatever.

It's actually, the same. Battles battles and battles. Dialogues don't matter and fetch quests are the majority. And the worst thing - you'll be forced to do it at the same uncanging locations until the very end.

I would say give it more of a chance and finish it to at least get your moneys worth, there are some fun things. But all in all no it doesnt really get any more fun.

Acts 2 and 3 have less... I hate to say it but... drudgery. So much of Act 1 felt like messing about waiting for something important to happen.
Yes, I know you are supposed to be a near-beggar trying to raise cash, but I only appreciate that on re-plays, which suggests it was not presented very well. Perhaps another hangover gift from the "You are hero of the world" DA:O.
So, the question is what do you feel is wrong?
If it is the combat then give it until some point in Act 2 to see if the expanding repertoire of talents and spells adds anything. Try upping the difficulty to give the game some edge. Really the combat isn't so different from DA:O, the animations are faster and enemy waves are annoying, but once you ignore the animations and look at the numbers it is quite similar. You have a lot more options in Tactics this time around, and the Cross class Combos you start to unlock during Act 2 add a lot.
If it is the sidequests... As I said, the next two Acts have fewer. Also, they tend to have meaning, in that the reason for doing it is more than a half baked codex entry and often they have to do with your companions. Don't expect much difference in the actual quests themselves (map repeating...*sigh*), but the reasons behind them do get stronger.
Also, don't go in the with the DA:O mindset of "all companions must like me". Having them dislike you is very much an integrated part of the game, and adds some compelling dialogue options and quests, which keep things spicy. In DA:O, hostile companions attack or leave you. No motivation to do anything other than please them. In DA2, they get different stat bonuses and dialogue for being 'rivals', and treat you very differently. Plenty of motivation to play as 'you would' and have them think of you as they would.
DA2 is not for all DA:O fans. It is a very different game... and I can totally accept not liking it. But give it a chance, and you will see the skeleton of a giant of a game. Nowhere near finished, but the pure potential the frame implies is magnificent in itself

When I played it the first time, I felt like I was waiting for the good stuff to kick in then I got to the ending where it really ramped up the pace and I was like sweet now you're talking... then it ended, seemingly abruptly and I was really pissed off... I guess I felt like the storyline slowly built up to a crescendo, only to cut out suddenly leaving me wondering what on Earth just happened.
But I've played it a few times since and once I accepted that it's nothing like DA:O I enjoyed it more for it's characters than the storyline.

It's ok but not DA:O fun. Act 2 is better than Act 1 and Act 3 was ok. Boss fight at the end of Act 2 is pretty fun. I have played quite a few time getting rival with different companions and useing different classes. I like DA:O better but still was fun. But it all comes down to what you are going to enjoy not anyone else. Have fun, be kind and hugs.

No, I don't think so. If you don't like it after hours of gameplay, I don't think it really changes much. If you don't like it so far, I don't think you will find it getting better.

Act 2 is the best. There is a huge build to the finale and along the way Aveline gives perhaps the funniest companion quests ever. Plus dialogue choice and certain decisions factor into keeping a party member.

If you don't like Act 2 then stop there. There's more to the story and personal quests for your companions, but the combat will be the same.

Sorry, doesn't get any better from here. The rest of the game is just more of the same (until act 3 where it gets worse). You might want to play through act 2 at least for some qunari lore if you are interested in that, but that would be all.

DA2 is a different game and not as good as DAO imho - BUT once I got over that this was not DAO - I really had fun with it.
I loved the characters, the banter. Loved being a mage and a rogue! And I loved the moral dilemmas it highlighted....
