You don’t even know how Bioware are going to expand upon these endings. When we complained about the current ME3 endings, a lot of diehard fans called us a bunch of crybabies because we didn’t get the ending we wanted. Yet we still as we liked to call it, held the line. Now I believe it is time to sit back and see what Bioware have planned for this extended ending, because we’re lucky to get this. They could have easily just said “no, screw you, that’s our ending, live with it”. Sure, they might have lost a lot of fans but they’d still have enough to keep business afloat.

You never know, it could be expanded into like an epilogue similar to what Dragon Age: Origins did. Now DA:O essentially only had one ending (save for you living or dying, or someone else killing the Archdemon, but the big picture was that it was just one ending - the Archdemon died and the Blight ended), yet it had a massive epilogue that detailed the events of what happened after the game thanks to your character. ME3’s extended ending could have something like that, and yet while it is just basically text on a screen, I still played through DA:O loads of times just to get a different epilogue each time.

So can we just be calm for a few weeks and see what this expanded ending offers before jumping to conclusions? We wanted closure, now we're getting it. If you really honestly expected them to do something like the indoctrination theory, then let this be a lesson to you. Don't put faith in theories, no matter how convincing they may be.

No we wanted an actually ending.
worthy of money and time
Closure means THEY JUST  EXPLAIN WHY THE BULLSHILL ENDING IS THE BULLSHILL ENDING

This is the most knee jerk fanbase there is. If I was someone at BW working on this DLC, and I came to these forums to get a sense of where the fans were at, I'd probably purposely go against their wishes because some of the people here are just ridiculous.

Maybe there is a responsibility that attends creativity and Art that is not being adequately factored by business management.

Explaining something that doesn't make sense in the form of DLC instead of an overall response is questionable.

Why am I being unreasonable? We already know what the new content will be like, it has been stated plainly. It will not be an alternative ending, just provide us with some answers and some closure. But that doesn't live up to what we were promised. The Star Child and Space Magic are here to stay.

See also what a columnist from Forbes thinks of this here and here.

See, the problem with your OP is that that is what we did for Mass Effect 3 before it came out. Then it leaked and people still denied that it could be that bad.

Now we're here, and being vocal, we're not likely to stop. The catasrophe of the ME3 ending has jaded us to Biowares PR bull ****. Sorry just how it is.

It seems both anti enders and pro enders (still an incrediblely horrible name) have run out of logical points to make,.not that arguing like this over a video game could ever be considered logical, and have resorted to plain name calling. Literally almost every post on this and other bioware soc forum has long sense stopped making any sense. There forums are an example of why people who don't game look at all gamers as over indulgent children. People try expressing "points" with a little civility and restraint. As for the endings not one of us regardless of what side you are on could honestly expect bioware to recode and ending be size we didn't get it, like it, or want it. Essentially bioware is giving both sides what they want more answers. However I would bet there will be just as many people will be make that same illogical argumets on how either the new content was fine or it was horrible. So no real gain will be made. And once everything is said and done it is still just a video game and should not affect our lives to this somewhat disturbing and terrifying level

You haven't read the press release properly have you? Because that is exactly what they are actually doing based on their words. The ending was a giant steaming turd, now they are adding to it and turning it into a pile of giant steaming turds, they are changing nothing about it as it stands and just adding more to that one ending in 3 colours.

The problem with stopping because they have made some concessions and goodwill gestures is that this is exactly what they want. Us to stop harming their reputation, because otherwise they will be forced to make drastic changes.

Backing down now is the worst thing we can do, we must be more civil, yes, because they have extended an olive branch, we can be more open-minded because the ending could be done well.

Yet we can't abandon the line, because all of this is uncertain.

Theres a time and a place to whine... the place is obviously BSN. The time is AFTER bioware does something wrong... not when they are trying to rectify a past mistake. We whined when we found out how **** the ending was. That was acceptable.
Whining about something we know very little about, instead of waiting for its release and seeing for yourself what it consists of, is downright stupid. Its obvious everyone is in rage mode, but seriously, a little patience guys. After the extended cut gets released, you all have every right to go crazy

My response from another thread:

Pulletlamer wrote...

Me:"Dear Bioware, I want a new ending, or an edit of the current one"

Bioware: "We appreciate your feedback. We're listening."

Bioware:"Got it. You want clarification on the current ending. Here, have this DLC that expands on the current existing ending, containing extra cinematics. We are very proud of our artistic vision of the ending and we won't change it. We appreciate your feedback, though. Like srsly"

Me: "That's not what I want"

Bioware: "You should be thankful"

Hypocrite much?

I want apples and you give me oranges. I'm unreasonable for pointing out that's not what I wanted, and I should be thankful.

^Nice reasoning there. Doesn't sound like a fallacy or anything.

I thought the whole point of announcing the DLC was to get us to fight amongst ourselves and defuse the problem so we'd go away?

No, it seems that the point of the DLC is too see what new and "interesting" to make ourselves and the gaming community look like a bunch of unintelligent troglidights who can't decide what they or how they can go about getting it.

I agree 100%.

The retake movement started over the lack of clarity, the abundant plot holes, and the lack of closure. They're now fixing this plus more. At PAX they said the extended cut will more accurately reflect our choices.

So unless Bioware under-delivers with the DLC, I can't possibly see why people are so mad.

I can't see how cutscenes, or anything else that doesn't involve gameplay and/or additional choices, can possibly make the endings rational without themselves introducing more space magic. They've simply painted themselves into a corner with the stock ending - it's simply indefensible, and I can't see how anything but a rewrite can correct it.

I'm calm, but I still have my right so say that explaining garbage doesn't make it smell less.

Garbage or not, it's the ending so it's time to just let it go and accept it.

Not that I'm disagreeing it's garbage, but I think this is about as good as it's going to get.

Sorry Bioware preacher, but I reserve myself the right to not adopt your dogmas.

Because they're still planning it? If they think we'll accept it, they'll just go ahead and do it. If we convince them that what they're describing won't help, they'll change their plans.

I'm perfectly fine with what they're doing. It's all I wanted and it's bonus they're doing it for free, since all those children would have screamed bloody murder if they made it like 10 bucks.
IMO it should have cost money.
