Yeah, because the fact that it's free couldn't possibly be raising any red flags. If it was worth having, they'd be charging us for it. The fact that they aren't speaks volumes. I say it's a farce, an attempt to placate the mob and save face. Which it is.
So... you'd be complaining less if Bioware was charging for this DLC? I find that a little difficult to believe.

I can believe it. But I also believe we'd have a million other people complaining far more, since we're now moving into the "pay extra for the ending" territory.

I'll tell them the same thing - you didn't sign contract with bioware to make a game you'll like, preorder or not. You purchased (in advance) the game they were already making according to their own ideas, "expecting" to get something specific - kinda like a lottery. Of course, if somebody DID actually sign contract, then this matter should be resolved using legal means - using original contract and game design document.ile_1979 wrote...
Tell that to the people that preordered (and didn't like it), i'm pretty sure they will regard it as a comissioned work. Some were lucky and waited for the game to come out. Some (and i was almost one of them) weren't so lucky.
The real problem is that since the game uses Origin, you can't return or resell it if you REALLY didn't like it. So people that didn't like the game are stuck with it. And that's different issue.
From Origin faq:
EA does not offer refunds on any products downloaded through Origin. EA reserves the right to offer compensation for downloadable purchases under exceptional circumstances at its sole discretion.

Wow, someone actually found that and read it? I thank you good sir XD (although looking back it seems as if I could have done better... much better). And it wasn't really an 'article' in the traditional sense - just an extended opinion.
But since it doesn't have much to do with the Extended Cut, I'm going to stay on topic and say I have high hopes for this DLC. If it does not turn out well then something is definitely wrong!

You're absolutely correct. Bioware has no obligation to make a game that their customers will enjoy. They can stick to their guns and not touch a thing and life moves on.
From a business point of view however, it makes financial sense to sooth the unruly mob, whether it's a vocal minority or much larger. While we don't know the size of the discontent, they do. They know how many people are playing the game today, two months out, vs. how many played at two months out for ME2. They know how many people completed multiple playthroughs and how long it took them, etc.
From reading all the information put out while the game was being made and comparing it to the end result, something must have happened to cause such a seismic shift. How does one get from branching storylines that some users may never even see to an entirely linear game that does a good job creating the illusion of choice? I'm not talking about the end, but the whole game. What happened to cause ME3 to lose its Mass Effectness? Some of the mission writing was great, why did the overall world get so much smaller and less interesting?

Yes. A free DLC is a horrid thing to do.
HORRID!
Yeah, because the fact that it's free couldn't possibly be raising any red flags. If it was worth having, they'd be charging us for it. The fact that they aren't speaks volumes. I say it's a farce, an attempt to placate the mob and save face. Which it is.
I could be wrong, but the fans will be more than happy to inform everyone whether its a worthless pile of garbage, and I won't be touching it until they do.
I would think that it's free because we held their ass to the fire saying how we hated the ending to the game. They're providing this DLC to provide "closure" as they call it. If they charged us for this DLC I think fans would be even more pissed off. "Oh, you don't like the ending? Ok, here's an extended cut of it to clarify things and by the way, we're going to charge you such and such amount for it." We've been vocal and we have a loaded gun to their head so to speak. Of course they are going to make this free. They have no other choice. To not make it free would be a publicity nightmare for them. Either way...free or not free, Bioware has screwed up and my faith in this DLC attempt is very low indeed. In my opionion, they're dead in the water no matter what they do. Their credibiltiy is destroyed.

Just like you, I need to be good to my values and my word. I said if you didn't fix the ending, I will never buy another EA or BioWare game again.
People told me to wait, be calm, be patient. I did, and I hoped the ending to possibly my favorite series ever would have a second chance at a reasonable finish.
So here is the precipice, you've gone beyond it. If you want to climb a 10,000 ft. horizontal cliff without any gear, we can talk but until then neither you, nor your parent company, will get a dime from my pocket.
Now I'm gonna go play a nice, wholesome game that didn't have a plot to utterly **** up. Hello TF2, how I've missed you.

For me...I don't need to understand everything about the Reapers. Well, I still have trouble with them even allowing an organic to choose anything for their fate.... But if we get a good actual couple of scenes on the Garden Planet, that show and explain this even of a very gut level, through some of our friends/love interest eyes... that could go a long way for me.

Bioware, you can clarify the endings all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that they are the same 3 endings with different colors.

Not crying about this. It was their franchise to ****** into the wind with. I was just trying to help them continue to keep their fans with an IQ above 80.
