^ By my interpretation. It won't kill me if they don't go with it whereas some who don't may go ape**** if they do go with it.
It'll ****** people off either way and this is why some folks were against the clarification thing because it may do more harm than good.
You've seen the replies to emphasize it from both parties.
I think that's probably true, which is my best guess as to why Bio doesn't want to clarify IT's status before the EC ships. All that would do is hurt one side without delivering any real benefit to the other.
Matter of when isn't even considered though. Look at all who called: DEM, McGuffins, Space Magic - long before the game came out and while they're right, they're still upset and with good reason. Given all of that if IT isn't the reason this stuff happened, which is where the "bad writing" is coming from!
The Reapers are a clearly malignant race of sentients; however, they're not? Somebody is being played and honestly no way could the writing be that ridiculous. If IT comes out to be true, but the same dumbing down of the Reapers still happens - I'm definitely inclined to believe it was bad writing. Yet, I think BW is too smart to do such a thing!
IOW, we're really kicking and screaming because we've been had!! And that's not a bad thing!
I may be grasping at straws here, but I do think this is what happened! They played us and we're mad though that was the intention!
"We want the player to feel what Shepard does!" I reckon s/he'd be pissed after being played if s/he fell for it - which means some players fell for it, too! (And it's evident given some of the responses).
I bet this is what the EC will show/tell us, but to those who got it, won't be pissed - compared to those you didn't or didn't want to.
A comedian doesn't explain his or her jokes as a magician doesn't reveal his or her tricks to do the trick, The audience must pick up on them. You can explain a few things alluding to the trick or punchline, but you don't reveal them until the timing is right - even if some of them have caught on.
The timing was perfect in this case, but most should have caught on - but "you don't know until it's too late!"
They IT up to a T - and riling folks up was a pretty nice bonus!!
Yes, this seems ironic that I believe in the IT, but don't believe in magic; however, IT is a pretty clever magic trick! Yet, they left us privy to all the details (codex, in-game visuals, dialogue, etc.) so it really wasn't a trick at all.
Like if you actually took Starchild to heart! Most know he is clearly lying! If you spent disproving the other villians previously (and in real-time), why should he be any different?
On delivering benefits, well, I think all of us know that you can't please everybody; however, the problem is when you try because it becomes worse. I doubt they're oblivious to that fact though regarding the quote about the ending. Even inside the fanbase, everyone wants something different and that's hard enough, but that base and outside of it?
So, yeah, EC the olive branch is a good idea. How good of an idea is it? is the question. It still probably won't help either since most people have already made up their minds on the matter.
