I'm currently on my 3rd play through of the game but I never finish the game by jumping into the light, I end my games before that final stupid insulting space magic ending. I leave myself an air of mystery to solve in my own mind.
The Extended Cut DLC won't change the current ending and I may try the free dlc but in the end if I still continue playing ME3 and I don't like the EC I'll just end my games where I leave em before the space magic begins.
Now Space Magic would be fully plausible if this was Dragon Age: Origins in space, but I currently can't ascribe to the Crucible being God who can change all life in the Galaxy faster than what was written in the bible.
If Bioware offered a DLC that wiped the old ending away and came out with a new ending pack at a later date in a year or so I would buy it.
I agree to disagree with you and you likewise with me.
But it all boils down to the fact they ran out of room in the programing when they implemented Multiplayer an so shortend Single player and took liberty's with their own story line as if they haven't even played or wrote the other 2 Mass Effects, as well as programming Kinect into the game to make it that much grander.
I love Mass Effect 3 but I won't play the ending's, I see them as lets finish this quick and put God in the mix as a child and give em their choices A,B or C and call it good. <How ever you shovel crap it's still crap when it hits the ground.>
Well, the fact is that it is still crap in the shovel too. The crap is crap no matter how it is manipulated or moved. It is always true to itself, unlike the ME3 story.

FOR NOW I go with the Indoc. theory...that's what keeps me sane. We'll see what EC brings. And if it's brutal or more BS I'll delete it from my HDD and go with Indoc. theory.
And that would satisfy you? You would have a de facto incomplete game that never got to the end...and that would be OK and preferable to you over just dropping the whole thing and forgetting it?
The game and series is destined for the also-ran bin.

No, it wouldn't actually. I would be BEYOND pissed off that my favorite game series of all time did not get a proper ending. But if that's what I have to do, then so be it. It will forever be a sore spot with me, but when all the DLC comes out for single player, and I do one last complete run from ME-ME3 at least I'll have MY version of the ending (be it indoc. theory or the EC) and I can live with that at least. Not perfect but it will do....it has to, not much is going to change with EC I think.

The "...team's artistic vision about the ending"?? Are you serious Bioware? The ending sucked!! Just admit what we all know already. You blew it; fix it--we'll forgive you. If you're going to waste the time and effort on putting out this DLC, you should give your fan base (ie your customers) WHAT THEY WANT. (It's "good business." I learned that in Business 101; someone at Bioware should take that course sometime...soon).
I agree, but they seem to believe that their pride is more important than honor or customers. I bet the reason why all of this multiplayer DLC is free, is because they know that they'd be digging themselves a deeper grave if they charged money for it now.

Back in ME1 characters on Citadel were acting like the place still has tons of mysteries. Even back then the thought of hidden levels or creatures hidden under the complex crossed my mind. Keepers are the only stuff we see, but below the living quarters there are an army of midgets running the show or something. So I wasn't exactly surprised of the Catalyst. But there wasn't any real evidence or even hints so it was just a random thought I shot down as unimportant.
Worst part is how short the confrontation with the kid is. I'm left with a dozen questions in my mind and then comes the Normandy scene which seems completely out of place.

Give the community a chance at the Artistic Integrity!

Why dont you kids wait until they release the extended cut before you **** all over it huh???????
Because it's going to suck. Well, they've made their minds up that it's going to suck. And really, what else matters? The Extended Cut could be a wonderful experience that fixes just about every problem people have with the ending, and most at this community would *still* be angry about it.
Because this community is angry about *everything*. I can't imagine spending so much time talking about things I apparently despise.

I finished Mass Effect 3 today and thought the ending was epic, satisfying and suitably large scale. I put the controller down with the feeling of a story well told and well finished.
My commiserations if you didn't find it such.

--The ending was leaked so it appears they fragmented it with a plan to release the full version (or something...)
or...
--The ending was the equivalent to an artist sitting in paint and then sitting repeately on a canvas...and then selling it for millions.
or...
--Problems with the writers.
or...
--Everything that's happened was a scheme set in motion by Biowares media dept to try and prolong its time in the spotlight. Bad move if so.

That is the frustrating thing about this forum. For how (apparently) bad the game is to some people, they sure do like to spend a hell of a lot of time complaining about it.

of those two people, only one is a writer.

That's easy. Because they loved the series/characters otherwise. The game/series didn't have to end so poorly and it COULD be fixed and much better.
The EC could end up perma-wrecking it in which case there will be a nova burst of anger and protest that flares up but then it will quiet down as players abandon it for good. The EC could slightly improve things which means that there will be a smaller flare up of ire from many but some satisfaction for others - modest improvement overall. Maybe enough to produce modest DLC sales in the future. The EC could mostly improve things, in which case there will be a small burst of ire from some, a modest to strong round of applause from others, and there will then be a promise of moderate to good future DLC sales.
Basically, until the EC is released and finally nails down an ending in no uncertain terms, the BSN will continue as it is now. The disgusted/angry wont leave until they have to (EC breaks camel's back) or some/many of them (I am one of them) will quiet down and many, though not all, will come back into the fold. Damage has already been done. It is now simply a wait-and-see game as to whether the limb needs to be amputated or if it can actually be saved.

That's exactly how I felt.
I really enjoyed the game and the ending. I thought it was appropriate and genuinely moving.
I don't really see the need for an extended cut myself.
But I seem to be in the minority, and I'm certainly not going to turn my nose up at any additional content for my favourite game! I just hope the extended cut is well received and gives those people who are disappointed some closure.
