Ok, that's it.

Call me "an eternally unhappy, impossible to please, entitled fanboy" but the extended cut is not what I've been hoping for... I think the description they provided makes it clear enough that there is nothing there for me to wait for. Current endings possess bargain bin quality of writing, few extra cutscenes won't fix those enormous plotholes.

Thank you for all these years and games Bioware, but it's time for us to part our ways. I'm taking my money elsewhere, I think I like CD Project's "artistic vision" better.

Boobs, torture and cleavage?

I take it you prefer Miranda's bum zoom ins, Diana Aller's cleavage and a universe where everyone is bisexual and fancies your character? You seem to have a very limited view of The Witcher series, I recommend reading the books it's based on.

It was a joke, get over yourself.

And honestly, the book series is better than the games, but it is still schlocky in its presentation. It was also filled with bad humor in my opinion.

Sounds worthless. Our choices still won't matter.

Have you seen what your past choices result in during the game, and not just the very end?  Besides, this DLC is an opportunity for them to show the ways in which the final choice differs, not how they're all the same.

Exactly. The endings are indeed different, we are just shown so very little snippets of them that we can't really tell one from another. The universe is potentially astonishingly different in each ending, depending upon your own past choices.

They can still pull an astonishing "coat" that can dress up very nicely the present endings, and "hide" the major problems of the ending. The other games also had plot issues and inconsistencies (You kill Saren and a whole 2km "civilization-in-one-ship" mega-reaper is "disabled"? etc), but they were hidden with the great flow and feel of the game.

Er... not everyone is bisexual AT ALL.

Jack, Miranda, Thane, Garrus, Tali, Jacob....all straight.

Bi: Diana, Kaidan, Ash, Liara (I guess)

Gay: Traynor and Cortez

And seriously, TW is way more boobtastic than ME ever was. Look at Triss' outfits!!

If I were to do this DLC I'd give my best to redeem my reputation. Just cutscenes and epilogues aren't satisfactory. They should add at least a little gameplay. It would be interesting to see what happened to Shepard's other companions, but not just through cutscene. Who here wouldn't like to play with the squads Shepard didn't take on the final battle? Because they sure as hell weren't just sitting around and it worked on DA:O.

Alsom this could be a chance to BW try and redeem itself for what it did to the ME2 characters. The characters from ME2 could be a part of the hammer and would be great to also have gameplay involving them.

But Bioware (read rEAper) is taking the easy way out just to get a few points with some angry fans.

This is exactly what I wanted, though the ending was beautiful I would have wanted more closure and expanded endings. This DLC, which is free , will certainly satisfy me. Looking forward to it!

**** you and your entitlement complex. It's what some people wanted, including me.

And me as well. It's EXACTLY what I wanted.

Personally. I'll withhold judgment until all DLC is released but all this uproar is starting to remind me of the backlash of Highlander 2: The Quickening.

"Highlander II: The Quickening is the most hilariously incomprehensible movie I've seen in many a long day—a movie almost awesome in its badness. Wherever science fiction fans gather, in decades and generations to come, this film will be remembered in hushed tones as one of the immortal low points of the genre." - Roger Ebert

It'd be pretty funny if they followed the same path as Highlander 2; maybe in 5-10 years, they'll re-release the game as the "Renegade Edition" with an altered story.

I'm glad a lot of people are happy about this. I'm not one of them.

I won't be downloading this at all because it isn't what I wanted or what I think the ending of Mass Effect deserves. I expected this however. They lied all throughout development, they are continuing to lie now, so when they claimed they were "listening," I didn't believe a word of it.

So....you are judging content you know nothing about yet?

Ok.

I know exactly the same you do. 1) There will be no new endings. 2) There will only be more cutscenes. I can extrapolate that there will be no new dialogue.

Both of those things are what I didn't want, so I think I have enough information to make a judgement.

While I appreciate the Extended Cut, I still don't understand BioWare's clinging

Did you not release DLC for ME2? Didn't they expand the Mass Effect saga
without violating this so-called "artistic integrity"?
Implementing new endings with the DLC would take nothing away from the
game.

Well said. DLC added two squadmates to ME2. This took nothing away from the artistic integrity of the work done on the original ten squadmates. Thus, adding extra endings to ME3 with DLC would not alter whatever artistic integrity is, or is not, to be found in the existing ending(s). Bioware's own track record proves this.

Dunno. I don't like the misogyny displayed in the Witcher franchise. Or their poor Import system. Or their lame DLC. Or their set in stone protagonist who doesn't give a damn about anything.

I see your points, however the misogyny, while clearly despicable in the real world, fits the dark fantasy setting more than idealistic, egalitarian view on gender. The topics of intolerance and discrimination were important in Dragon Age, but Bioware decided not to touch the more controversial, closer to the real world aspects of it, which The Witcher series does. Of course it's everyone's personal choice whether they like such topics to be discussed in games they play.

Protagonist is consistent with his portrayal in the books the series is based on, which I highly recommend, they offer a closer insight into his personality too. As for the DLC or import - give them some time, they are a relatively new company and are roughly at the stage where Bioware was after the release of KOTOR. I hope they will learn from both Bioware's successes and mistakes.

What EXACTLY did you find beautiful about the ending? Seriously. I just can't bring myself to understand how anyone can like this atrocity. Like. HOW are you doing it? I would have to shut down major parts of my brain to overlook all the blatantly obvious plot holes, inconsistencies and badly edited "colorful" cutscenes.

Wow how quick the winds change .. I say wait and see, this is just an ANNOUNCEMENT .. not actual DLC. It's a PR Plot, they needed to make themselves look good at this point. Ever notice this came on the cusp of EA being named worst company according to a Consumerist poll. Even to a point of Forbes Magazine is joking on them. This changes nothing, it all PR magic to get you to back off, forget think everything is ok. WRONG!!!

You want to believe Indoctrination, good news everyone your falling for it. If you take this as "good news"

My opinon hasnt changed

BW: What? Omg1!1 We even gave it for free. ENTITLED GAMERS.
Fans What the hell man. We told you this from day one.
BW: Whinny entitle gamers!

The next day

Kotaku: Will nothing ever suffice for gamers?
IGN: Gamer entitlement, a sever hazard for industry?
Gamespot: Have gamers gone too far.

Forbes: Gamers call bullcrap like it is.

Perhaps. But what is done is done. They won't move their stance here. Go ahead and make noise, I don't think it will work.

I do think, however, that this major feedback can potentially wake BioWare up and prevent them from pulling those kinds of fast ones in future games. Any time someone proposes this kind of sh*t, someone will say "oh you're pulling a mass effect ending?"

No. Thats not how it works. We need to made noise NOW. And I mean so much noise that they stop to consider the ramifications of not replacing the entire ending completely. Right now they are sitting comfortably on the "Meh they'll suck it up" level. We need to take it to a point where they actually apologize to the fans and not take a firm "hurr durr artistic integrity" stance.

An apology - an acceptance they they made a mistake and that fans do, in fact, know what they want and that they (BW), for reasons that are known only to themselves, utterly and completely failed to deliver this - is the only way they will even bother to consider their future decisions.

I say we need to make noise. And that it should be loud enough to give giants pause.

The Extended Cut announcement is genius. Evil genius.

Everything about the announced Final Cut DLC is simultaneously horrble and brilliant.

The content of the announcement will fracture the fanbase, enabling Bioware to divide and conquer. By making it free, the people who were demanding only that it be free are satisfied. By providing closure, the people who only wanted closure will be satisfied. By doubling down and standing by the existing ending, the people who argued on the side of "artistic integrity" will be reinforced.

This will pit all of the above against the most important group: the ones who said that the ending is terrible, for reasons which have been already established in countless epic forum posts and video deconstructions. (And make no mistake, the ending is terrible, and clarifying it is like polishing a coprolite.) Those who insist that the ending is terrible will be increasingly marginalized.

The timing of the announcement is tactically smart as well. By doing it the day before PAX, they have destroyed the ability of the fanbase to show a united front at PAX. The waters are sufficiently muddied that they have a decent chance of making it through PAX without any ugly incidents. Anyone who stands up and says "but the ending is terrible" will be shouted down in a chorus of "but the extended cut will be free" and "they are clarifying it for us" and "you are not respecting their artistic integrity." All the panelists need to do is sit back and smile, and let the shattered fanbase do their work for them.

They didn't even set a date for release. Just sometime "planned for this
summer, no specific date has been announced at this point."

Plans
change with bioware. Release dates are put off. They probably are just spinning again. Hopeing to
settle people down and the complaints will go away.
