A casualty directly related from anonymity. At least whoever is running the board has the gumption to allow open discussion and not ban anyone outright (cough... Bethsoft).

No. Thats not how it works. We need to made noise NOW. And I mean so much noise that they stop to consider the ramifications of not replacing the entire ending completely. Right now they are sitting comfortably on the "Meh they'll suck it up" level. We need to take it to a point where they actually apologize to the fans and not take a firm "hurr durr artistic integrity" stance.

You go ahead, I won't stop you or bash you. I think it is fast becoming a diminishing-returns exercise.

From my POV, they are humans, not gods. Perhaps they fooled some people into thinking they had semi-god abilities of actually making a brilliant series of sci fi opera for some time. I liked the ride. But they are 7 years into it, seven years of a lot of stress and hardship. I accept they were incapable of finishing ME3 like it deserved to, and just move on.

An apology - an acceptance they they made a mistake and that fans do, in fact, know what they want and that they (BW), for reasons that are known only to themselves, utterly and completely failed to deliver this - is the only way they will even bother to consider their future decisions.

I don't agree with that assessment.

I say we need to make noise. And that it should be loud enough to give giants pause.

I don't agree with this, but accept and respect those who think otherwise. Please go ahead. I'll be watching.

Eh. TW2 promised 16 endings. It has three at best. (Yet nobody calls CDPR out on that LIE)

I thought that TW2's endings, no, the entire third act, was a letdown. They are EXPANDIN it now....hmmmmm.....

TW2 promised 16 ending *states* which were in the game and they certainly had more than 3 "major endings".

Furthermore, they are adding *4 hours* of additional content in the 3rd act for free. And no matter how you put it, TW2's ending was not *broken* (as in fit with plotholes and stupidity). It answered everything that had to be answered, with consistency.

Ended in a cliffhanger, but still, take a look at this:

That is the reason they are making enhanced edition with a clearer epilogue and ending and they are doing it for free

Seriously, If we just do not get your artistic vision ending why don't you just answer all our speculative questions in a post and be done with it. This is getting rediculous with the PR spin. I do not need this level of frustration with a video game aimed at providing me with entertainment. I'll just uninstall Mass Effect 3 head canon the ending and be done with the series. There is plenty of other developers providing me with less frustrating entertainment value for my dollar.

This

I honestly want to find the person who first sent the phrase "artistic integrity/vision" floating around and slap him on the back of the head. I mean seriously.
Bioware is just unwilling to admit that they royally messed up the ending, and that they don't even understand it themselves.

I didn't believe they [Bioware/EA] had the guts to admit they were wrong with the so-called ending... and surprise, surprise... their solution is not fixing it, but adding more poo to it. Yeah, this will reeeaaally help.

It's a sad day when deaf are "listening" to their fans.

I'm happy with this.
The other 70% of the fans won't be happy, even if this answers everything in the ending.

Hopefully they'll take the players choices into account and fill the plot holes, and maybe it all wont end on such a sour note. Guess it's their own goddamn fault for making such an awesome series that it'll be a pain to wrap it all up.

Honestly, I'd gladly pay for proper ending. Adding more cars to the faulty train only makes for a bigger wreck.

But I approve! Enhanced Edition for the Witcher 2 will be for free to those who own the game.
That being said, it's also nice to see Bioware do it too with the Extended Cut apparently.

I am suprised. And for free? Double suprised, let's see how that turns out.

Boobs, torture and cleavage?

Don't forget, emphasis on the word "ploughing"

and sex cards.

Also excellent writing, non-cliché characters, interesting world and a plot and ending that doesn't suck.
Course, people who can't see past the stuff mentioned above will be naturally missing out.

And lol, there are still people throwing around the word misogynist?:wizard:

The writing is debatable honestly, I wasn't wowed by the storyline of The Wither or the Witcher 2 that much. I will agree the characters were pretty good and the world was well thought out, cleavage be damned.

From what I hear about Wither 2s ending though...not sure that is also accurate.

If they show us the consequences of our past choices, and how they play out in the post-apocalyptic Mass Effect universe, then fine. Explain the plot holes, fine. Add to Shepard's conversation with the Catalyst, fine. Give us some more closure on our squadmates and LIs, fine.

It's nice to know that Bioware believes in its own artistic integrity; building that sort of internal culture is very important for creative studios working with any media to succeed.

It's just a shame that the ending (as far as it was meant to provide closure and create speculation, as opposed to bringing disappointment and bewilderment) will remain an artistic failure despite Bioware's outright refusal to change it for the masses.

It isn't because "they didn't cater to everything we want from them" it's because they BLATANTLY LIED about what the endings would be like.

For the millionth time, we were told by Casey Hudson (and several others who have been quoted on this very site in this very forum) that the endings would be different based on our choices throughout the games. We were even specifically told that it would not be an "A, B, C" ending...right before being given an ABC ending.

I don't think that is a fair assessment. The endings are plural, they are just not exposed to the audience in a sufficiently diverging manner, they all "look" the same, but they are not.

But once again, lowered standards and disregard for anyone who cares about video games will apparently prevail...

Demanding perfect standards from others is not wise. People are people, humans. Errare humanum est, and all of that. A bit of tolerance is required, and is perhaps advisable to avoid aneurisms and stuff like that.

KOP, I know your stance on this and that TW2 is your fave game.

Can I PLEASE have a different opinion on the third Act? I love TW2. And TW1. But no, I do not love it entirely.

I'm looking forward to those four hours. As I was anticipating the free story DLC. The story DLC were letdowns. The four hours won't be, I hope.

Soooo, finally some news and it's the second to worst thing you could have done which is to attempt to "clarify" the current endings.

Firstly, you cannot clarify an ending which makes absolutely no goddamn sense, so releasing this DLC will not help the issue at all, even if it is free.

Secondly, WHO THE HELL...SERIOUSLY...HELL decided to call this the Extended Cut?!? Whoever it was should get fired quicker than a ball out of a cannon. The extended cut in movies usually comprises of incomplete parts which have been cut then completed later to add to the film in order to add more content (in other words DLC, or in the case of Javik, part of the actual game.) Adding an unwanted extension is stupid when replacing the broken part of the game should have been the priority!!!

RetakeME3, I implore you, hold the goddamn line, this is ridiculous and insulting to the entire Mass Effect franchise and BioWare fans!

Actually from a business standpoint it's pretty much genius.

They are giving people that want closure closure.  They are giving people who want freebies, freebies.  They are giving the people who wanted clarification clarification.

They are doing what is known as "divide and rule".  Tactics as old as colonism.  They are splintering your retake movement and your line is falling.  And they did it right before the PAX stand off too.

Genius from EA.

I may be a bit biased. I am a big fan of the book series even met with the writer himself during a FantasyCon here.=]

As for the endings, I believe there are MUCH more variables involved. Here take a look if you don't mind spoilers a bit:

Fans look to the future with Witcher 2 and Risen 2! We have become too dependant on Bioware. Fans have been insulted and played for fools, why wait till mid summer for more let down. This whole experience has been horrible, uncalled for and exhausting. I will do what many of these critics have told us to do, stop giving them money. Hope the rest of you fans find what your looking for. I just dont see a good outcome, and when i look at all the time spent trying to get a point across to Bioware and EA it is wasted, they belittle us, and are trying to make us look like crying kids. Yeah I put 200 some hours in the trilogy, but I also put in close to that on Biowares forums, countless internet articles, you tube videos, regarding this subject.

And what I got from this experience
1. Loss of love for mass effect, Bioware, and EA
2. Public Relations and marketing using their fans as pawns.
3. Loss of credability for critics, and reviewers.
4. A glimpse of how corrupt the Video Game market and media is.
5. Too much B.S.
6. And Bioware cant even say hey your right ending sucked, or we were rushed, or nothing. they are 100% proud (hell yeah) was quoted in the announcement.

So good luck not to bioware but to all the fans who had the courage to stand up and speak out. One day Bioware will wish they had REALLY listened and not just said that.

I do not agree with the hating.

The ending was less than ideal, but if this DLC can flesh them out more and provide closure, then I am a satisfied customer.

Asked by GI if Mass Effect 3's ending was as complex as ME2, the series' executive producer Casey Hudson said: "Yeah, and I’d say much more so, because we have the ability to build the endings out in a way that we don’t have to worry about eventually tying them back together somewhere. This story arc is coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot more different."

Hudson added that Mass Effect 3's conclusion will reflect decisions made from "who lives and who dies, civilizations that rose and fell, all the way down to individual characters."

"That becomes the state of where you left your galaxy. The endings have a lot more sophistication and variety in them," Hudson explained.

They did have to clarify that though, people read it at first as 16 true different endings, not gameworld states.

Also, what are you counting as "major endings" for TW2? Because I only count two myself (X lives, X dies). The rest is part of the "state" to me.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

You didn't really listen to the feedback. The entire ending concept and the poor writing of the entire this is just awful. You can't really expand on bad writing. Putting frosting on a steaming pile doesn't make it taste better. The whole Starchild thing you can hold up as artistic all you want, but it's a horribly done rip off of a 12 year old game the ending choices actually fit to.

I'm not really impressed by the quality of ME3 in general with its flaws, the shamelessly lazy ending, Bioware's PR responses to it, or a DLC that expands upon a badly conceived ending.

You fooled me once with DA2, you fooled me twice with ME3. The second was my own fault, but I'm going to use my money elsewhere from now on. Thank you.

Edit:  To summarize, they made a lot of false statements prior to releasing the game, they screwed the game up and their promises royally, they insulted and jerked their customers around, and now they're extending an already bad ending for the sake of Chris's feelings.

EA hath devoured you quickly, Bioware.

I'm going to go read a book.
