Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut

Bad: We're still stuck with the character breaking A, B, or C ending we got.
Note to BioWare: If you really cared about "artistic integrity", you would never have included that "Buy More Stuff" pop-up ad at the ending, but you did, so stop talking about "artistic integrity". You have none.

I never thought id say this, but that is true entitlement right there.
I wanted a new ending, now it is clear it wont happen have asked for my Origins account to be permabanned as the only protest I have left. Still waiting for an answer. (obviously)

Not sure how I feel about this...
I would have liked them to keep the current endings and then add another few as well to give us a greater diversity. Seeings all the endings were pretty linear and were all practicality the same thing.
Guess it's better than nothing..

An official press release went out today announcing how we are re-prioritizing the Mass Effect 3 post release content schedule to provide a more fleshed out experience for our fans. For many of you the "Extended Cut" will help answer some questions and give closure to this chapter of the Mass Effect story. Oh and it's at no cost to you - the fan.
Here is a mini FAQ to help you understand what the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut is and isn't:
What can fans expect from the Extended Cut DLC?
For fans who want more closure in Mass Effect 3, the DLC will offer extended scenes that provide additional context and deeper insight to the conclusion of Commander Shepard's journey.
Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?
No. BioWare strongly believes in the team's artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.
What is BioWare adding to the ending with the Extended Cut DLC?
BioWare will expanding on the ending to Mass Effect 3 by creating additional cinematics and epilogue scenes to the existing ending sequences. The goal of these new scenes is to provide additional clarity and closure to Mass Effect 3.
When will the Extended Cut DLC be available?
Currently the Extended Cut DLC is planned for this summer, no specific date has been announced at this point.
Why are you releasing the Extended Cut DLC?
Though we remain committed and are proud of the artistic choices we made in the main game, we are aware that there are some fans who would like more closure to Mass Effect 3. The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game, rather to offer fans additional context and answers to the end of Commander Shepard's story.
So there you have it. Are we proud of the game we made and the team that made it? Hell yes. Are we going to change the ending of the game? No. Do we appreciate the passion and listen to the feedback delivered to us by our fans? Very much so and we are responding.
Be good to each other and Summer is coming...
Sorry but bioware, screw your artistic integrity. If I duck taped a crayon on my dogs paw it could have made something better than that ending.
You are capable of releasing hours-long DLC content but you won't change a measly 30 minutes to the ending? your out of touch with reality. I hope your company DIVE BOMBS.

Geez, we get a free DLC and all people do is complaining? Check out the DLC's content. If it's not sufficient, you can still complain then. Give Bioware a (tentative) break for now and wait for PAX/answers/the DLC itself.
Nothing will change. Another asspull from StarChild ? How is that any better ?

This is pathetic. How many times do we have to say it?! We don't just want closure, we want an ending that doesn't ask us to pick a color.
So you hated ME2 as well, I take it? Never mind that ME3's endings aren't about picking a color.

Again with the "we." Some people only want closure; others want a different ending; others want IT to be true; others don't care. There are many "we" and Bioware will inevitably disappoint some.

When you pay for a product, yes, you're entitled to get the product advertised.
They literally told us the ending woudln't be "Pick A, B or C" and that's exactly what it was.
This isn't complicated.

I will play it. If it sucks,. I'll complain.

No, this is not what we wanted, we don't want clarification to you're forced space magic, we don't want that starchild, and we don't want palette swap endings. We want actual distinct and differing endings, not clarification to what was already a terrible ending. Yes things need to be clarified from that ending but more importantly that ending should be changed completely. I believe I can speak for the majority of people who want the ending changed when I say that the current endings that you want to keep due to "artistic integrity" do not do the series or our character justice. To force us into the same ending regardless of our actions is inexcusable. On a much brighter note however, at least it is free, i guess that's something to be glad about
They've just said they won't do that. Explicitly.
They've also stated they've listened.
Conclusion - they've listened, found they can't do anything to please us, compromised with their art team and done what the art team wants in a hope that maybe the fans would like it.
Which they won't. But it looks like they won't - maybe they can't - do what we want.
I think I'll start blaming the writers instead of the company. They just got greedy. This isn't about money, its about character ownership. The players have become very attached to their Shepards and the characters, do you really expect the writers didn't too? Except the writers then decided to botch choice completely to finish the ME franchise of with complete destruction of the franchise, because, and here it comes:
Whats more expressionate than Art? Vandalism of Art!
Maybe its not about money. Maybe its about seeing their own works burn... aw, the power! The Power! To create and to destroy!
I think their power went to their heads a bit.

I remember the big thing I got dissapointed with was that the changes were brief. Citadel surviving, shepard surviving, edi surviving, earth destroyed, reapers surviving, the nature of each of the 3 choices (control, synthesis, destroy) and the impact it meant for everything...all those things felt like things we should have gotten more follow through for. The explanation for why the ship was leaving, witnessing the impact on the armies of hammer and sword on the reaper forces, the epilogue of those armies, the fate of the major characters and even minor characters in the game. These are what we ALL want from the ending. Some people want other things, but that is basically what EVERYONE can agree they needed from it.

However, friendly advice. Tell the guys who are writing all the public statements to drop the Artistic vision line. It just makes people even angrier. It's a simply ridiculous excuse.
Honestly, I'd rather you just tell it to me straight. "We are not changing the endings because we feel the effort is not worht it." Would I disagree? Yes, but I'd at least respect the fact that you gave it to us straight.

Nope. Bioware is dead to me. A puppet wearing a friend's face, that has EA's hand shoved up it's back, controlling it's every move. No more money from me. ME3 was a last ditch hope that they'd redeem themselves. They failed, failed more, and then when they had a chance to fix it, failed even harder. They shouldn't be proud of this game. They should be ashamed of it.
Then take your toys and leave?

Generally when someone has lost trust, and lost respect, you don't keep giving them chances to screw up further.
Sorry. Guilty until proven innocent, in this case.

Oh, its more complicated than you think. Considering this is a liscenced product under the EULA, tehcnicaly you own no product advertised in a legal sense.
So technically, you are not entitled to anything. That said, they are giving you changes when they didn't have to. If your only problem with the damn ending is the choice of what to do like that, then don't play the ****ing game and just stop, because that was never going to change.
And everyone knew that.

I dont see how "we believe in the ending we made" as being the straight answer. Just because some people dont like it doesnt mean it lacks artistic integrity. The brevity of the ending did it no favors, though.
