No actually sadly it isn't.....I had hope. You don't like the
ending...Fine. Why should they change it cause you don't like it? How do
you think you are entitled to more than what they give you?

I'm entitled now? Entitlement is expecting something for nothing. That's not the case at all. We were promised one thing and given another.

What if you bought a house, and the contractor built it, but it wasn't what they told you it would be when you purchased it? That's the same situation as this.

No you wernt. you were promised nothing more than a game with a story in it. Nothing more.

Actually... we were promised a great deal of things.
Here's one of them.

Yeah, bioware just lost A LOT of fans. Out of all the happily ever after endings that has happened in my life THIS is one of the things I actually WANT happily ever after. ****ING MUTANT BABIES WITH GARRUS! So me convincing the geth and quarians to fight with each other was a total waste of time. Bull****.

This guy. Speaks truth.

Yep, I agree too

Me as well. I was heartbroken when Kaidan said he couldn't afford to lose me a second time, and I already knew I was going to die... Some things confuse me, others give me hope, and BioWare keeps contradicting itself when it gives out announcements. They need to get their heads working and keep their stories straight.

I have to say I'm impressed by this, although  arguably if it was paid DLC people would backlash even more, and although it will cost a significant amount to produce the additional content, it would be pocket change compared to what could be lost to bad press. So it is a logical choice, I am glad it is only an expansion, not a rewrite, additional answers would be greatly welcomed.

Imagine how irritating/horryfying it would be to first play through the entire game again and then to encounter the creator of the starchild, after your conversation with the starchild. "I created the spacebrat as a galaxyspanning practical joke.... Or as a means of trolling all ME-fans".

Did we ever get an explanation as to why the reaper in ME2 looked like a human?
If a every reaper functions as a method of preserving advanced organic civilizations, then does that mean Shepard has exterminated three civilizations? I assume its also quite normal for the reapers to lose a few in combat. Not exactly the most effective/safe way of preserving something hehe.

We'll see what happens. Going to keep an open mind about this. However its hard to take them on their integrity because of what could easily argued to be outright lies to their fan base before. "You won't have an A B C ending." We got an ABC ending. This is just one example but some have tweeted about how the team members on the ship "isn't space magic" and that they couldn't explain it without "spoilers." Its just very hard to trust what they say anymore. I've been following and loving Bioware games since at least KOTOR. Yet I agree with what AndroLeonidas and Estelindis about what this will likely be.

Sadly, I tend to logically agree with the projected outcomes of Daniel_N7 and MrCry0 that this is most likely the end of the ride for the vast majority of Bioware's core fans.

And it just popped in my head that the phrase "Pride before the Fall" will be center to what plays out here.

This is just a waste of time. There is no point in making a DLC in the way that you described it to be.
The fact that we didn't get to see nearly enough of what happend after the final "choice" we made was just one small pebble on the enormous Mountain of disappoint you left at the end of ME3.

As many has said before me, I have now lost all faith in this, and if this DLC is coming out as planned, it won't make difference what so ever.
Huge cred to all involved in making the mass effect universe (and not involved in the choices of the ending). I hope you all realize that this is the reason so many are upset about this. It's because they're such great games. You've given such an experience with them that we cannot bare to have it end the way it did.
You did actually make one of the greatest series of games ever seen. Until that ending. And it will haunt many players for the rest of your time as a developer.

I actually think this will hurt the bioware fan base. I'm not a DA player myself, but from what i've read they've managed to ****** those guys quite alot aswell.
Fool me once...

Artistic integrety really does not apply in this situation. You make games for an audience. A paying audience (quite alot too). If you decide to paint a painting, just for the fun of it(with no intention of selling it at first), and then decide to sell it, then i agree, the buyer has no right to demand you changing it. When you make a sequal for a game that has already sold over 2 million copies, and beforehand make promises as you have, we, as buyers, do.
And for those calling us entitled; we aren't. This is not a valid point of argue on your part.
If we had DEMANDED that shepard have a pink gummibear on his/her shoulder through out the game, updating us live on the football scores, then that would merit being called entitled. This does not. It does not even come close.

Had I known that you wouldn't take this ending seriously i would never have bought the game, or spent so much time on building my character in the previous games.
This DLC is just another slap in the face, that you seem to think so little of us. That this would pacify us in spite of the void you left us with.

If this is the way you want to play it, then i guess many of us have no choice. You clearly know what we feel is wrong. You have read many of our posts (which would be good thing, but it doesnt seem to make any difference, so it doesnt really count for much) and still you choose this.
For me, the mass effect universe stopped with ME2. This is the true ending. I would rather have it end there, having defeated the collectors, and preparing for a fight with the reapers that never was.
Well known games reviewer TotalBiscuit decided he couldnt even play this game, because of the deal with the From ashes DLC release. I don't blame him for it, but i reasoned that this series is so freaking amazing, that i didn't actually mind paying €20 extra for CE, and getting that in the process. Even if it was a cheap trick. It was supposed to be that good. I personally have never been more excited about a game release.

With this "answer" Bioware has given us today, once again i feel the wind knocked out of me, and this was the last game from Bioware that i will play.

Nothing to add, all you say is true.

True. I should. I'm just kind of tired of the final battle after re-doing it to see the three endings. Maybe by the summer I won't be so bored with them. Was kinda hoping for a "You already beat the game, so here are the extra scenes!" option, but that might be asking for too much.

Probably yes, although if not, I guarantee you they will be on youtube if you did something like sold the game, so don't worry, they will be available publicly, especially for a big title like this. But if you have the game, just load your save and run the final mission again or what have you.

I don't know why everyone is surprised by this announcement. It is the same thing they have been saying the whole time. They never promised new endings. Dr. Ray's announcement a few weeks ago said that they would provide more closure and answers. Whether you like this 'Extended Cut' announcement or not, at least Bioware can't be accused of lying because they never said anything other than what they said today.

Oh, and on top of that: if you want to respect the team's artistic integrity whilst pleasing the fans, there's a very simple way to do that: add alternate endings, but make it clear that the alternates are not canon and will not be reflected in the future development of the ME universe.

That way, the team's chosen ending is elevated head and shoulders above the others by virtue of being canonical, whereas people who really don't think it fits their Shepards can go for an alternate.

That would be great if they had any plans to expand the development of the ME universe.
All the evidence suggests they wanted to sell out some DLC with it or whatnot, maybe earn money of the Multiplayer "packs" system, and then announce the complete end of the franchise on a cliffhanger. Since that didn't become possible, they decided they'd expand on their endings.

Maybe their artistic team just refuses to make alternate endings? Ever since ME3 started and the amount of dialogue Shepard could have, as well as all of that novel stuff was included, "player choice" has become irrelevant to them. It's their "artistic vision" now, maybe they refuse to budge even if the whole company is going bankrupt because of them?

Writers. I mean seriously. What do you expect? J.K.Rowling wasn't exactly different.

It's EA..this is what I expect
EA: Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the game is made. Mass Effect the T-shirt. Mass Effect the lunchbox. Mass Effect the coloring book. Mass Effect... the flamethrower! Kids love it. And my favorite, Mass Effect the Doll -- me!

And dont forget Mass Effect 4: the search for more money!

Very fitting that this is announced the day after EA is named the worst company in America. And wasn't an announcement first originally planned for tomorrow?

I am sure they became one of the largest game companies ion the world by
making crappy games..........Because it makes money means it is opposite
of a bad company...

No, they find companies that make good games and have a good fan following, buy those companies and start churning out sequels until the company loses it's fanbase. Then they give it a bullet to the head like Origin Systems, Bullfrog, Maxis, Westwood, Mythic, just to name a few...

Pretty much.  They just stamp their little EA label on whatever they can put it on.

This seems to me like EA wants some goodwill in their name, and what better way than to speed up this announcement right after the award they received yesterday?

Have to agree...can't believe they killed Westwood. It seems the only thing that is keeping EA even alive anymore is the sports franchise that they monoploized.

After all this I am through with Bioware and EA , Bioware ruined the only franchise I cared about and EA wants to slap an online pass on everything even single player games to squeeze more money out of people.

Heck I am more intersted in Vin Diesels new video game than either of these companies new releases now.

I'm having a bad feeling about this as they say the endings will not be changed.

This bodes ill off Dragon Age 3 wonder if their gonna slap a crappy ending on that when it releases and then come up with a clarity & closure dlc to make up for it.

Well I boycotted all games from NCsoft for the closure of Tabula Rasa, so I may end up doing the same with Bioware and closing my Star Wars The Old Republic account down and not buy another game until I hear from fans that Bioware has changed.

I'd rather not since I've enjoyed all of their games and it's so hard to not play ME3 since its a good game I just stop playing my character just before we do the push to the citadel and form my own ending.
