Forgive the laziness (i.e., not reading 45 pages of a thread) in case this has been answered already, but: will we need to beat the game again in order to see the new cut scenes?

You should have an automatic save just before the (far to short - in my taste) battle for earth, so you'll only have the Huskateers and Marauder Shields up against you... hm... and a few brutes and Banshees, and more Marauders (also with shields, but not as heroical as Marauder Shields)... a few Cannibals might drop in also. ;)

True. I should. I'm just kind of tired of the final battle after re-doing it to see the three endings. Maybe by the summer I won't be so bored with them. Was kinda hoping for a "You already beat the game, so here are the extra scenes!" option, but that might be asking for too much.

Hehe, I was hoping for even more, but in the end, I don't really mind taking the difficulty down from insanity to easy to get an ending I can actually understand. Beat the game on insanity anyways... nothing left to prove, just need to understand what I actually did...:lol: :pinched:

Haha, I feel incredibly dim for not having thought about this before. (Lack of) Challenege Accepted!

My distinct impression is that this is a very off-key strategy, I do not think there is any way to salvage the current ending save for a drastic re-write. Clarity is most definitely not what it is lacking, the ending is a complete tonal, plot, and lore non-sequitur. Any ending with bluestarkid and the three magical "pathways" is going to be crippled and feel like reliving a horrid nightmare. In any case, I will not be playing the DLC or anything at all until I hear word from others that it addresses a good amount of the concerns of the current ending. I truthfully do not see that happening with an "extended cut."

EA/Bioware think they are so clever saving a few dollars to not create a new ending.  Guess what, deleting Origin (ME3 was the only reason I installed it) & will not be purchasing another title from you.

Smart move.
you were not promised anything but what you got.
All the sneak peaks, articles, interviews, photos and videos painted this game in a different light. Ending included. So to say we were not promised anything except what we got is making your original point invalid by admiting we were promised something......

Which by the way was not what we got. When you make a product for sale to the general public, based on the publics interest and demand, its probably not a good sales tactic to give them the exactg opposite of what they want. That is a recipie for disaster, and so is calling consumers who buy a product entitled.

I only played ME2 because of good press. I enjoyed the game and played it multiple times. The first release day game I ever bought was ME3. That game was a lot of fun, but the ending was like..."what? I don't know what happened"

I believed in IT. In preparation of the real ending I was going to go through all of the games and buy all of their DLC leading up to the big release and "haha jokes on us, you were indoctrinated"

After this announcement I lost all interest in Mass Effect. Any interest in Bioware games and RPG's is gone. Back to the Modern Warfare merry-go-round!

Goodbye Bioware...you crazy! I have lots of money but little time, I ain't waistin it on you.

Very fitting that this is announced the day after EA is named the worst company in America. And wasn't an announcement first originally planned for tomorrow?

I am sure they became one of the largest game companies ion the world by
making crappy games..........Because it makes money means it is opposite
of a bad company...

No, they find companies that make good games and have a good fan following, buy those companies and start churning out sequels until the company loses it's fanbase. Then they give it a bullet to the head like Origin Systems, Bullfrog, Maxis, Westwood, Mythic, just to name a few...

Pretty much.  They just stamp their little EA label on whatever they can put it on.

This seems to me like EA wants some goodwill in their name, and what better way than to speed up this announcement right after the award they received yesterday?

Have to agree...can't believe they killed Westwood. It seems the only thing that is keeping EA even alive anymore is the sports franchise that they monoploized.

After all this I am through with Bioware and EA , Bioware ruined the only franchise I cared about and EA wants to slap an online pass on everything even single player games to squeeze more money out of people.

Heck I am more intersted in Vin Diesels new video game than either of these companies new releases now.

Cause no one buys things like the Sims and dead space and star wars and battlefield and sim city and need for speed and ect. ect. ect. ect. ect.

I'd rather not since I've enjoyed all of their games and it's so hard to not play ME3 since its a good game I just stop playing my character just before we do the push to the citadel and form my own ending.

I'll join you after I see how this DLC turns out. *reserves a spot on the boat to 'make up your own ending for ME3'-land*

Good I hope we get more information. I may be happy with this though I still think the Catalyst needs to go away. The catalyst is a big part of what makes the ending so terrible. We have spent 5 years (3 years ME time) fighting the Reapers only to discover that they are not the real problem but rather an AI that we have no idea where it came from or who created it and I still do not know who created the Reapers or what the point of the Keepers are. And I still want to know what was up with the sun on Haestrom. This DLC better be damn good.

I was quite pleased to hear that they are extending the endings!

I really wanted to know why my LI was part of my squad when I charged the beam to get to the Citadel, then I finish the game and find her on the Normandy - I would really like to know how the hell she ended up there and why she left my Shep to die!

Sounds like exposition, I don't really approve of the wait but I'll put up with it.

Still unhappy though.

This is just a waste of time. There is no point in making a DLC in the way that you described it to be.
The fact that we didn't get to see nearly enough of what happend after the final "choice" we made was just one small pebble on the enormous Mountain of disappoint you left at the end of ME3.

As many has said before me, I have now lost all faith in this, and if this DLC is coming out as planned, it won't make difference what so ever.
Huge cred to all involved in making the mass effect universe (and not involved in the choices of the ending). I hope you all realize that this is the reason so many are upset about this. It's because they're such great games. You've given such an experience with them that we cannot bare to have it end the way it did.
You did actually make one of the greatest series of games ever seen. Until that ending. And it will haunt many players for the rest of your time as a developer.

I actually think this will hurt the bioware fan base. I'm not a DA player myself, but from what i've read they've managed to ****** those guys quite alot aswell.
Fool me once...

Artistic integrety really does not apply in this situation. You make games for an audience. A paying audience (quite alot too). If you decide to paint a painting, just for the fun of it(with no intention of selling it at first), and then decide to sell it, then i agree, the buyer has no right to demand you changing it. When you make a sequal for a game that has already sold over 2 million copies, and beforehand make promises as you have, we, as buyers, do.
And for those calling us entitled; we aren't. This is not a valid point of argue on your part.
If we had DEMANDED that shepard have a pink gummibear on his/her shoulder through out the game, updating us live on the football scores, then that would merit being called entitled. This does not. It does not even come close.

Had I known that you wouldn't take this ending seriously i would never have bought the game, or spent so much time on building my character in the previous games.
This DLC is just another slap in the face, that you seem to think so little of us. That this would pacify us in spite of the void you left us with.

If this is the way you want to play it, then i guess many of us have no choice. You clearly know what we feel is wrong. You have read many of our posts (which would be good thing, but it doesnt seem to make any difference, so it doesnt really count for much) and still you choose this.
For me, the mass effect universe stopped with ME2. This is the true ending. I would rather have it end there, having defeated the collectors, and preparing for a fight with the reapers that never was.
Well known games reviewer TotalBiscuit decided he couldnt even play this game, because of the deal with the From ashes DLC release. I don't blame him for it, but i reasoned that this series is so freaking amazing, that i didn't actually mind paying €20 extra for CE, and getting that in the process. Even if it was a cheap trick. It was supposed to be that good. I personally have never been more excited about a game release.

With this "answer" Bioware has given us today, once again i feel the wind knocked out of me, and this was the last game from Bioware that i will play.

Nothing to add, all you say is true.

I wouldn't have included the "slap in the face" comments, but yeah.  If this is all Bioware is going to do, then just don't bother.

Although I can't say they are blameless, I feel that this could very much signal the death-knell for BioWare no matter what happens. EA, with their usual kind-heartedness, will quite happily drop BioWare faster than you or I would drop underpants filled with rabid scorpions that had been dipped in vindaloo.

Bad ending or no, I don't want to see many talented people end up on the dole and another great name consigned to the scrap-heap just because of this mistake. They have the chance to fix this and I hope for everyone's sake they do it; not just for me and everyone else who feel a new ending is the only way forward but for everyone who works at BioWare and, like us all, have rents / mortgages to pay and mouths to feed.

They have the talent to make games that blow our minds...Mass Effect on the whole was a trilogy I will never forget and I have never poured so much time and emotion into a title like I have these. It's just a shame that, for whatever reason, they dropped the ball at the very end.

Actually, I reckon that the ball was knocked out of their hands by someone who cared more about profit than customer satisfaction. Sadly this narrow-minded view backfired badly but I am not kidding myself that they wont hesitate to cut and run, leaving BioWare to carry the can. Yes they helped to make the bed and so must lie in it but it's still wrong to let it end like that.

Make the endings you promised us BioWare. If not for us then for yourselves and those who rely and depend on you.

So how long should the extended cuts be?
I'm hoping for a meaty chunk of scenes because if I have to wait till summer for 10 or 15 minutes of cutscenes then that will just break my heart.:(
I'm with the others when it comes to having additional endings(3 more maybe?) and some clarification on what you guys already did, so the stuff that's planned up better clear a lot of things.A LOT!:)

For the next ME arc(I'm hoping) go back to what people fell in love with in the first place and stop listening to people that want a FPS-all action game out of a RPG. ME3 doesn't feel like a ME game to me.I miss everything about ME1, that's the ME game I would love to see again in the future.

Fingers crossed.

Sims is for casuals....seeing as how Bioware went the casual way I can agree with you there.
Dead Space 2 had a tacked on multiplayer because of EA ..same as ME3 and will be dead in a few months LIKE deadspaces. Also lots of backlash for DS2 as well...so yeah.
Star Wars...what what is coming out that is so special? Kinect starwars REALLY! You are using that game as an argument hahahahaha.
Battlefield ...well most fans are irritated at "Origin," So not as many people play as you think.
Need for Speed....I am not even going to say anything after "The Run."

I've never seen such a rabid defense for such a horrible company before. I think you need to rethink who you are defending and see how much destruction they do on a video game than defending them.

That may not make you a troll, but continuing to antagonize and insult and make baseless statements that evidence points to the contrary, that does make you a troll. So you can stop now, you aren't impressing anyone. Don't knock yourself out over a witty retort either.
