I think aside from people on this forums nobody cares about game enough to worry about ending. That's my theory.

Very likely. Most people are to busy with more important things to worry to much on whether a game ending was satisfying.

The amount of vitriol being spat out on these forums is dissapointing. When the Retake ME thing started people for the most part were being calm and outlining their problems of the ending politely and when a Bioware employee did respond in a thread the Retakers would reply in a friendly manner. Now that has shifted almost to alot of cynical shrieking.

I'll give the ME team a chance, see what this new DLC adds to the current endings. Maybe it will resolve some of the questions I have, or maybe not. Will see.

The price has fallen hard? On Amazon.com from 59.99 to 49.99 after a couple of weeks? Kingdoms of Amalur is a few weeks older and is down from 59.99 to 39.99.
This is completely norma!

Call of Duty: MW3, released Nov. 8; price: 59.99 today, April 6, price: 59.99, on the steam store it didn't even go on sale.

It's 34,99. Liar.

Does this mean there won't be anymore paid dlc's for mass effect 3? Or will there just be dlc for content prior to the end of the game?

Nope, but aside from the 'retakers' nobody was so bothered by it to demand it changed. Amirite?

Let me tell you one of the most basic truths of customer relations:

For every disatisfied customer that bothers to complain, there is 26 other who don't.

So this makes 1.89 million disappointed customers.

I am happy over BioWare's decision with a "Extended Cut". It may sound egoistic, but this is exactly what I wanted. More clarity and closure. This summer I will finally have a real ending to Mass Effect 3, providing a epic conclusion to all the choices I have made throughout the 3 games, whether it is followed by red green or blue explosions. I trust the team with this.

I'm sure there will be paid DLC which will be set during Mass Effect 3 and not at it's end. This extended cut is just a free addition because of fan reaction to the ending.

I'm not going to threaten to never buy Bioware products again, but I will commit to not buying dlc for Mass Effect 3 until they offer some alternative endings. I certainly would have bought them on day one otherwise. Extending and explaining the current train-crash of an ending for free, is not sufficient.

Nuff said.

I do have one question: How can the team that gave us the Suicide Mission, Tuchanka, and Rannoch look at that ending and say, "Yeah, that's good."

Easy. The team never said that. The team never wrote it. It was lead writer only.

And none of them looked at it? None of them had the nerve to tell him, "Sorry, but this garbage."

One man may be primarily responsible, but it's still a collaborative failure.

Frankly Activision likes to keep their prices up. Isn't even World at War still $50 on Xbox Marketplace?

Disappointed with the ending, not the game.

And that's making a lot of assumptions - that there's indeed that many 'retakers' (the poll had lots of people voting multiple times), that the rule about customers complaining still goes when 'complaining' is an internet browser away (this lowers the amount of effort it takes to complain spectacularly).

Mass Effect 3 sold spectacularly. You know the next thing BioWare makes will sell spectacularly too.

If BioWare were really that worried about *losing all their customes* as you seem to imply, why don't they fully bend over and let the 'fans' have their way with them and create an ending with rainbows, unicorns and lots and lots of exposition. And Tali naked.

This announcement somehow made me lose hope in getting a satisfying experience out of ME. This might actually be the first game that really hurt me and made me throw it in the trash rather than sell it on ebay because I wouldn't want it to hurt anybody else.

Mass Effect 3 isn't available on steam, now is it? So how can you compare it? We were talking about Amazon for a reason.
Geez, what an idiot.

P.s. On origin Mass Effect 3 for PC is still at its original price point of 49.99

oh btw does anyone know if the extended cut will have different epilogue and cut scenes depending on your choices?? I don't think the mini faq was very clear about this... Or is there going to be on generic clarification for everyone?

frankly, i HATED the ending, and I found it depressing.
AND making a depressing ending longer is NOT going to make the BAD ending any better.
I have found it hard to play ME3 and I have basically given up and I have had little interest in playing ME1 and 2 knowing how BADLY ME 3 ended.
I am not happy that BW gave us the finger on having a good ending.

Wow, you don't even comprehend what everyone is complaining about and yet you have the nerve to call others "intellectually handicapped"?

Oh no, I understand quite well why this minority is complaining, that's why I'm calling them intellectually handicapped.

Anyway, enjoy your CliffsNotes DLC. (if I want to use a kind term for it)

This needs to be explained. If it's just one same video it's not helping at all.

But I doubt it as there can be so many variables, unless Bioware really goes for "everyone died - the end"

Also, BioWare's team is apparently agreed that the ending is great; just some rather vocal people didn't get it.
That's why they're releasing the Idiot DLC. To explain it to you. Patiently, like.

Ouch, you guys got burned.

That is only the party line we have heard...
Weekes was forced to redact his opinion of the ending and the circumstances around it...

You are right, we 'got burned' by the ending...  It is clear there are many problems with the ending;

1- The Crucible itself
Every 50,000 years each cycle adds to the plans of this.... thing!?  The odds of this are so remote that one slip up in the millions of years this cycle has been going on would lose everything on it...  Considering that no expert has any clue of what it is supposed to do makes it doubley unlikely that anyone would even TRY to make it, let alone plan it...

2- The star child contradicts itself twice AND ret con's ME1.
It states that; "The created will always rebel against the creators."  IFF this star child made the reapers, why aren't the reapers rebelling against him?  This doesn't even take into account EDI or the Geth.  Through-out ALL the lore of Mass Effect the Geth only acted in self-defense.  It requires the intervention of the reapers themselves to make the geth fight organics (Heretics).

The conversation with Soverign establishes that each Reaper is like a nation, independent, the Star Child controlling them destroys this...  It also reveals a weakness, instead of choosing RGB, Shepard can just get on the comms with Hackett and tell him to blow up the Citadel (the reaper controller)...

3- Ret Con Mass Relay destruction
In the Arrival DLC it's stated the destruction of a mass relay will destroy a star system, akin to a super nova.  Destroying the relays will effectively wipe out the homeworlds of every major species...  Obviously we'll have to say that these are "different" explosions...

4- Guarding Organics against Synthetics
Again ignoring EDI / Geth it has already been established that the organics are capable of protecting themselves against synthetics...  The moon base AI (lol @ those that know), The Geth can be pushed back, even the Quarians were about to wipe them out, it required the intervention of a Reaper to turn the tide.  The organics have also already established laws against AI's and are capable of policing themselves...  No Reapers needed...

5- Space Magic...
The Red and Blue Choices can be explained...  maybe, I can buy that...  (Though the Blue Choice kinda validates the secondary antagonist's view point and it rips-off the game "Prey")

But the Green Choice... Is sensless.  Galactic personal genetic/synthetic re-engineering of EVERYTHING!?  Plants become part synthetic, Joker's Hat is part synthetic....

Does this include ships?  Quarian Suits?  Omni-Tools?  Rocks!?
Lets assume that was not intended and it's only humanoid sentient life; (quarians, turians, humans, Geth? etc.)

This means that the beam shot from the Citadel / Relays would have to selectively change parts of every organic on a personal level, keeping each person unique but adding in synthetic cells?  This is Impossible, even in the Mass Effect universe...

6- Joker...
Ok, you get shot by Harbinger's Lazor...  Joker does a fly by and picks up your squad mates.  This method ret-cons ME2 logistics stating the SR-2 Normandy is too large to do this effectively, therefore we have the Kodiak shuttles.  Even if STEEEEVE dies Joker still does the pick-up...  (why didn't we do a fly by in the first place and just do a mako drop into the conduit?  He's done it before...)

Anyway Joker picks up the crew, at this point in events you will have opened the Citadel by now and the Crucible will be on it's way to docking.  Ok, makes a little sense so far....

Crucible activates, massive RGB explosion occurs, Joker gets scared of it and goes to FTL.  We are now establishing the RGB explosion is FT-FTL cause it catches the Normandy.  This is 'kind of' ok so far but the consequences of your RGB take on...

IF u chose Red, they are dead, Red is stated to destroy higher technologies, mainly space faring tech...
IF u chose Blue or Green they *might* be saved, if you have any Dextro's left then there will be a 50% chance that only Garrus / Tali survive...

Now in ALL cases the galactic fleet is stranded in Sol (assuming they didn't chicken out) and we are assuming the RGB explosion got every reaper in the galaxy (again unlikely).

There are MANY other problems but they are relatively minor compared to the ones I noted.

The 'Free Epilogue DLC' will have to address EVERYONE of these concerns raised (maybe not the Crucible plans, but that is still a far-fetched plot device...)
