I am running through a second playthrough.
And it just struck me how EDI lines up an ending (and continuation):
There's a conversation i the game somewhere where she goes on about bubbles, and how physics maybe exist as they are in only one bubble, and how one could end up in a bubble where 1+1 actually equals 3. 

If you look at that sequence, and note it does not necessarily crash with IT, it'd make perfect ME4 sense to have the relays blow up with such force,  the Normandy/galaxy get blown into an alternate universe  - or bubble. 

It could lay the groundwork for a new branch of the franchise, and could help tidy those oh, oh so persistently pesky plotholes...
Who knows, maybe the jungle planet caters to dextros and levos alike ;-)
