Ok.. Other than this one major FAIL Bioware has a pretty good track record so I for one am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Particularly if these planned Epilogues are linked with decisions made in ME 1, 2, and 3. I don't care that Shepard dies, but I do want the decisions he's made to have some lasting effect.

And for those who say "adding in cut scenes wont have an effect?" Inserting in a 20 second cut scene would solve massive problems for me:

Scene: Control panel on the Citadel
Anderson, looking over Catalyst control panel.

Anderson: Joker the commander on his way. It looks like I can send a self destruct command to the Reapers from here, but that will also transmit to the mass relays.

Joker (insert joke) Orders sir?

Anderson: Spread the word. Tell the aliens to head for the relays! Mission accomplished. And Joker that means you too. I want you take the Normandy to New Eden, with the relays down they'll need a ship.

Joker: But the commander?

Anderson: You have your orders, get the Normandy out of here!

Suddenly I get an ending where all my friends don't abandon me, chicken out, and run away in the middle of a battle to save the universe. Instead I will have a crash sequence that makes sense. Thats all I ask.

I am at a loss for words.
Did Bioware just took a dump on me, twice?
That cannot be, because I have given it my love and support and money and respect.

What is happening?
Is Bioware breaking up with me?

i still have hope. without hope, i might as well be a machine.

i need 2 things to happen for me to feel good about mass effect 3:

the first is a suicide mission to end all suicide missions. similar to collector base in me2 but on a whole new scale. i need to have tears in my eyes and a grin on my face while i play it. this is a tall order but bioware has done it before, i have faith they could do it again. i did just read somewhere on here that bioware won't be adding more endgame

the second is an additonal/extended space/land battle to end all battles. the 3 minute SWORD battlle was great but felt like it was cut off. i also need to have a grin on my face and tears of joy while watching it. i need those grisam academy students to make those barriers. i need the rachni to give wrex and his platoons infantry support. i need the geth to give the quarians air support. i need my squad to come in and rescue me from harbinger after i break free from harbinger's mind control and then watch all my war assets and desicsions go to work. and last but not least, i need some sort of final faceoff/showdown with harbinger.

If this was artistic, I wouldn't get three endings that had the exact same cutscenes are they going to update their view of what artistic means, is there a message behind control, synthesis, and destroy all being the same? Did I miss the deeper meaning?

Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?

No. BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned

Well Guess I will not be buying any more bioware games, that kind of aritistic vision - lieing and trolling is not what I want to pay for.

I just don't understand why these guys even bothered?  I wanted closure too but this QnA tells me I'm probably not getting the closure I want, my LI will never see her shep again and be separated from her home world.  Why does bioware hate my LI

Wait till...
A new game comes out and ME3 in the dust
Wait till Bioware becomes the new Origin

Artistic vision doesn't need people lying about what the ending will deliver.

Let me just clarify my opinions, I'm flattered bioware listens to me,

But I feel pissed because this basically says you'll still get endings that stink but we need the PR to be a bit better for future pay content.

Just elaborate on what type of closure this is, Bioware!!!

All I wanted was some additional closure to Shepard's story and it sounds like that's what we will be getting. I can't argue with that and I thank Bioware for listening and acting. I mean come on people did you really expected a brand new ending I know I sure didn't.

I'm going to wait and see... but I'm not optimistic. Bioware will really have to work some magic with these new scenes to in order to win me over again.

As a customer you are not getting anything for free. A fix for something broken or that you dislike its called a patch.
Its something that everyone is expecting the developers to do; they are not doing us a favor.

Why are you releasing the Extended Cut DLC?

  • Though we remain committed and are proud of the artistic choices we made in the main game, we are aware that there are some fans who would like more closure to Mass Effect 3. The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game, rather to offer fans additional context and answers to the end of Commander Shepard’s story.

Really? Are you kidding me?

I think EVERYONE wants more closure. What "some fans" want is an ending that just makes sense. How can EA/BioWare be so...myopic? Why? Is it really "all about the Benjamins?" I really hope not.

Because I guarantee that they will announce more DLC at PAX East. And that should show you who and what EA/BioWare cares about.

What's hilarious is that people haven't even seen nor have any idea what they're planning on doing and you're already calling it crap.

I mean, it's free, what do you have to lose by withholding judgment. You claim Bioware can't fix the ending based on the conclusions you have drawn. But as we didn't write the story, we have no way of telling whether or not they CAN fix it.

Sheesh, let's calm down a little.

Bioware's listening = "we're sorry you feel that way" if you disagree with them.

Instead of = "You're right, maybe we screwed up and should re-evaluate how we vet content before release."

World of difference between the two attitudes. They've made it clear that "listening and responding to fans" only applies to small things like the Mako or planet scanning. Everything else is a waterslide with a set destination. You're input is not wanted, appreciated, or listened to.

Because you're asking them to "admit" to a mistake that only you think they made.

Here's food for thought:  Just because a large number of people believe something, doesn't make it true.

Ha! Haha, hahahaha... Hahahahahahahahaha... *sheds tear*

Really, you guys are awesome. Whether it's EA or not, this announcement made my day, confirming the impressions I had been getting from you. You can't even see what you did wrong, you just want us to go away. Well, I think you've achieved that. From now on I'll be buying Biotronic Arts games after they've dropped in price, likely when they're sitting in the bargain bin a couple months after their releases. Hell, maybe I'll buy them used. That makes sense to me. You obviously don't really care about your fans, so why should I care about you?

I'll take my second copy of Mass Effect and bury it next to my old copies of Red Alert. BioWare deserves a decent memorial to what they had accomplished before being indoctrinated and consumed. EA, you, my friends, have managed to increase my extraordinary dislike of your company to something immense. After destroying everything I knew and loved about Westwood and the Command and Conquer franchise, you then go and destroy everything I knew and loved about BioWare. I had been thinking this would happen since the whole DA2 debacle, but everything that's gone on since then only confirms it.

You, EA, completely deserve that Golden Poo award.

Every press release Bioware makes is so condescending, it's obviously a PR move to remove any controversy from the PAX panels, and redirect the announcement that they were voted the worse company in America. I'll wait until it releases, but I have pretty low hopes that Bioware will actually deliver something worthy of their fans.

Well this is disappointing, and I have no interest in downloading it. It's like if George Lucas announced that the Phantom Menace would be released with an extra 5 minutes of content but nothing would be cut; it wouldn't make it better, just longer. And apparently the word "artistic" is now synonymous with "bad", so I guess the Twilight books are now precious art.

No surprise here. We're living in a capitalist culture that doesn't care about integrity of any kind. Except that of money. So, no matter how strong we held the line it was in vain.
