Guess I'll just get my closure here: shannon.users.sonic.net/masseffect/

At least the above offers decent closure that I can deal with.  I don't have much faith in Bioware putting out a better epilogue than the above.

Hey, that gave a better ending than we got (or will get).  Too bad in my ending all synthetic life had to die, never did understand that one.

You know for all the people on the forums who say they are done, returning the game, never playing again... 99% of them are going right back to playing after they post here :)

It sounds, to me, like the old ending was poorly written and nonsensical, whereas the new ending will merely be nonsensical.

That's... an improvement?

How much money did you all waste on the retake movement? I'm just curious, because I know it was taking donations. I hope it was a lot, that would crack me right up.

The movement itself wasn't taking donations, Child's Play was. To say to people that they wasted money by donating to children's hospitals while supporting a movement is just heartless.

Remember all the great studios EA bought out and where they are now.

Prediction: in 5 years, that will be Bioware. Congrats Casey, Mac and the Doctors.

Well, that's that. I'm glad we finally got an answer. But alas, these 'clarifications' change nothing and the ****** poor endings will always remain. I guess it was a good run while it lasted, but I'm officially through with the Mass Effect franchise. Best of luck to those who stay. And thank you BioWare for the great experiences you gave me. It's just a shame it had to end this way.

Awesome!! Thank you Bioware for putting up a FAQ on the upcoming DLC. I can move on now instead of waiting for summer only to get dissapointed again. Death of the Mass Effect franchise now complete. I should go. Take care everyone.

"BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise."

They have received far more criticism for their 'endings' from long time fans than positive reviews, and they "strongly believe in the team's artistic vision for the end"? If I had a loyal fan base that told me something I did was absolute garbage, I would try to make it better, not tell them that they are wrong and give them 10 more minutes of garbage video. I do not care how much footage they cram in of Garrus or Tali standing on a uninhabited paradise planet, (which in a galaxy fighting for colony planets I found really wrong) or whatever patch they put on one of the gaping plot holes in this sinking ship of a story, it will not be enough. Point is, Bioware lied to us about the endings, got rushed by EA to finish, threw one ending in with poorly photo-shopped explosions and stock photos, gave Buzz Aldren a Klondike bar to read a few bad lines, and expected the fans to shut up and enjoy it. I bought the collectors edition of ME3, what had been my favorite video game series, but now I will not buy anything with the word Bioware on it ever again. Messing up with the ending is one thing, but their treatment of their fans criticism is not responsible or professional.

tl,dr analogy version:
If you went to a fast food restaurant and got a horrible burger with cat poo on it, they would apologize and give you a free burger, without any cat poo. Bioware would tell us to enjoy the damn cat poo, and release an explanation for the cat poo in a few months, while refusing to remove the cat poo from your burger. Meanwhile, they would defend their artistic choice of adding cat poo to your food, and charge you $10 more for lettuce and onions.

Wasted ? It went for charity. Poor little moron, get a life and next time, ask for some empathy.

Uwe Boll has 'artistic vision'. It's ok to have that, but to be oblivious to the mess you made in the toilet bowl is unforgivable.

I'm not returning the game, I can't.  And I'll keep playing Multiplayer, which I'm enjoying.  What I have always said is that if they don't fix this, I won't preorder any of their games, or buy the Collectors editions, or buy them at full price, but only at bargain bin prices and then only if they get good word of mouth from the fans.

And that, you can take to the bank.

I have to admit, I'm confused by the artistic integrity angle. How is it preserving artistic integrity to have organics vs. synthetics as only a minor story element until the closing few minutes, and to insist on the dichotomy without comment even if Shepard's brought EDI along and has brokered a peace between geth and quarian?

Exactly.

The artistic integrity argument only holds water if there was actually some artistic integrity to begin with.  An ending that breaks common and basic creative writing laws, doesn't even include any dialogue and then slaps a "buy DLC" ad onto the end of it doesn't have too much integrity to begin with.

I'll see how this DLC goes. But, I wasn't looking for "Clarification", I was looking for a completely different ending, or perhaps an extension of the ending, IE the ending we see is a dream/hallucination/attempted indoctrination.

Clarification is not what is needed, it's brand new re-write of the endings. And for those who disagree with me, I know you enjoyed the ending. But I didn't. And the current ending is an embarrassment to not only modern story telling, but also of the entire gaming industry.

I've been waiting for an announcement about their intended course of action before submitting my review(s) to sites like amazon/metacritic/etc. Now that wait is over.

Bioware won't be satisfied with what I'm going to submit, but I'm going to stand by my artistic vision.

But yea, ME was oh so close but in the end failed.

I think there should be a law that if you blatantly advertise for dlc during the ending of your game, you should be disqualified from ever using the phrase "artistic vision" to describe that ending.

It's not rainbow and sunshines, but Game of Thrones is truly creative and artistic, unlike a game we all know and loved.

Game of Thrones is a major win on every level, it's just that it is expected to be dark a gloomy. Unlike Mass Effect, where you could get a sort of rainbow ending (Suicide Mission, Geth vs Quarians etc.). Until the ending, that is.
