Well that's it. I'll take the free DLC just so I get a finished product, but my interest in any future paid DLCs has vaporized.

Well, so much for Mass Effect and Bioware.

It was fun while it lasted.

Seriously what a bunch of whiny, self entitled cretins you all are.

Bioware have given you SOMETHING, this is unprecedented. The ending of the game, love it, hate it, think it's broken WHATEVER! It's what they chose, this is THEIR STORY not yours, we had choices, we made some influence on it, but ultimately the story was always theirs to tell.

You didn't like it? fine, they're attempting to help as best they can, but you can't expect them to completely change it just to make everyone happy. That's pure madness people. They've stood up and taken notice, be proud of that.

Just because you don't like something doesn't make it NOT ART, in fact art is often is defined as something which creates a divisive emotional response, something this ending has clearly done. I don't like Picasso's Cubism period, I think it looks like crap and is a waste of his previously shown talents. That doesn't mean I'd go and tell him to stop expressing things the way he thinks best, I don't have to like it. I can choose to ignore the damn thing.

If this is truly the 'fanbase' Bioware has, then good riddance with to you, I'll keep buying Bioware games and enjoying them.

I'm not disappointed in Bioware, I'm disappointed in it's fans.

They are still missing the point. We dont want the ending to be deleted, just give us real alternatives according to our playing since me1

Endings explained... ok we'll see it. But this is the last game of BW I bought.

This game in my mind is not anymore the "game of the year" option. I'm very dissapointed.

Add ending hurts their artistic integrity? lol
Even if you have that, customer don't bother with your artistic things. Make some extra ending didn't bother anyone. Just make one.

I'm sorry, when did either of those examples release DLC purely based on fan reaction/disapointment.

I'll admit I'm not familiar with those games but I don't recall anything like this happening before, hence it's unprecedented. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

In a way, I am relieved because I just wasn't sure what the ending was down to; whether it was poor writing, a lame attempt to leave it open for paid for DLC, etc... At least I know now that it was just because there was a dirth of ideas at Bioware about what to do and that they didn't actually see all the numerous plot holes in their story. Hopefully the extra content will flesh it out so that it gives ME3 the closure that the game deserves because it is outstanding.

But the big issue for me is something that DLC can never fix because this announcement confirms there was no mistake at Bioware and there was an intention to mislead people by lying to them. I'm not typing this stamping my feet, it just makes me feel sad as I always thought Bioware was better than that. And they are one of the very few developers to actually engage with their fanbase through the forums.

Actually, I'm going to try to keep playing 1,2,and 3. Just gonna turn off Xbox after Cerberus base and go head cannon. Might as well enjoy the part of the game they got close to correct.

Edit: After all, I paid over $70 for it.

You'd rather they came out and said:

"You know what. It's just not worth it. We disagree with the fans that the ending is poorly written, and we are proud of our work. In addition, it would cost too much, it would take too long, most people would generally be fed up before we could realistically release the new content, and it would force us to relocate resources from new exciting projects that we have a great deal of faith in for something that simply isn't financially viable."

Good sir, I think your post is rather impolite. I, for one, would like to see more extensive changes to the ending of the game - not because I don't like Mass Effect or Bioware, but because I think the last 15 minutes of number 3 is a black mark on an otherwise impressive trilogy. It is my hope that the development team will also see this and do something to improve upon their work. They wouldn't be the first in history: Tolstoy, for example, made extensive changes to War and Peace over the years as a result of criticism and due to his own, evolving tastes. If a genius like him can do that with a genuine masterpiece in the history of litterature, Bioware can certainly do as much with a video game. All the best.

This is the fanbase that paid attention to every article, every interview given before ME3 was released where we saw repeatedly that we would not get an ABC ending and that our choices mattered. Throw your "whiny, self-entitled" BS elsewhere. This has been about false advertising, pure and simple. Now it's just False Advertising: Extended Cut. If you like being had than good for you. Be a tool, with the rest of the tools with no comprehension for what we were fighting for.

Well, I've heard that Fallout 3 did ending DLC, as referenced many  many times on these boards.  And he already gave you the Witcher examples.
