What's the shame in supporting a game I enjoy?

Your not supporting it, your making your own life miserable. Videogames had quite alot Multiplayer Parts back in the day. Videogames used to release Addons without making you pay for it. Until someone figured out they could make some people pay for it.

Ever since they sneak in more and more of these things, until eventually you have to pay not only for the game, but every single little element.

And seriously, EA does make enough money, they don't really need your support. Bioware is just a devision of EA.

Wikipedia on Bioware wrote...

Electronic Arts announced on June 24, 2009, that they are restructuring their RPG and MMO games development into a new group that includes both Mythic Entertainment and BioWare. This newly formed team (now called the BioWare Group) will be led by Ray Muzyka, co-founder and General Manager of BioWare. With this change, Muzyka becomes Group General Manager of the new RPG/MMO studio group. BioWare's other co-founder, Greg Zeschuk, will become Group Creative Officer for the new RPG/MMO studio group. Rob Denton will step up as General Manager of Mythic and report to Muzyka, later becoming Group Operations Officer of the new Group. BioWare's studios remain unchanged and continue to report to Muzyka

I am aware its not the best source, but i am to lazy to hunt for the press release. Rather buy an Indi title or something to support upcoming developers in their endeavors so we will have, in 10 years from now, still Videogames like this. ME wouldn't have existed in this form if not for the endeavors of Bioware before EA bought them. EA isn't exactly know for innovation.

He just said it's "a game he enjoys" and your very first sentence says he's making himself miserable. Wha-?

Oh and you're also supporting this evil company. You've got your own fair share of EA games listed under your avatar.

If you like the game... what's wrong with spending more money on it? IE Bioware gets more money for expansions, etc

agree.. maybe its better to spend 150 euros on virtual weapons than 200 in club, buying this girl drinks and she even does not give her mobile number and only kiss is the one on the cheek.. or spend 2x100 euros on girls that do it for money - 1 hour pleasure and thats it
but here, nice black widow  and i have pleasure at least 3hours every day... so i agree :)

If someone has disposable income, who cares how they spend it. Seriously, haters gonna hate.

The reason I hate the Premium Spectre pack is that I'm not sure if I should save my credits in hopes of it appearing again. Has BW stated anywhere what their plans are for the weekly packs, or should we operate under the assumption that it will be whatever BW feels like that week?

The Premium packs troll me harder and seem to give me more character cards...for stuff I have maxed.

Well, I appreciate you funding future MP content :)

Seriously though, that's how F2P works. People who can afford it pay for people like me who can't.

Yes, he might enjoy this game, but will he enjoy the next or the one after on which you might have to pay to even play multiplayer?

And yes, i understand those of us who haven't been video gaming for over 20 years, find the reason behind it hard to grasp, but a couple years ago people too said DRM would vanish again. People freaked out over stuff i wish we would go back to, instead of having to be online authenticated and needing to be online to even install the games.

Over the past 10 years, stuff gradually got worse... baby step by baby step. And it happens because there is always someone to take it in the end.

Its not the companies fault to charge people for alternate skins for your characters or for cutting Weapons and Armor from the game, if people are willing to pay it. Buisness rule 1:

Supply and Demand. As long as there are people willing to pay the price, companies will always take the next step.

And yes, he might enjoy this game, i do too, but by buying Equipment Lottery Tickets for real money, you basically greenlight EA to do this in the next game as well. There isn't enough outcry in the community over the lottery either. So its not even like a browser game, where you'd be paying money to get Item X... its more like a collectible card game in which you buy a booster pack for a chance of an item you do not yet possess or one you need.

If people go along with it, its here to stay and in the next one, they might cut the option to pay with credits and only use Bioware points for the Spectre packs. Adding a 0,01% chance to get Ultrarare in Veteran packs and having spectre only for Bioware Points. And people will still pay money. So eventually down the road, in 3-4 Years from now. And we all will most likely still be videogamers at that point, you might only be able to get stuff with real money.

They can't do it now, but as the EA president said.. eventually they want to get to a point where you hook people to a Multiplayer game and then have them pay 1$ for every reload of their gun.

Differance is, i don't give them money for lottery tickets. I buy the games i enjoy so their series continues, i don't pay them money for Skin Pack DLCs or basically anything you used to get for owning the game a couple years ago.

Bought three with in-game credits.

First pack had 3 character classes, all three of which I had already unlocked. :pinched:

Second one had a Carnifex Upgrade and a Widow upgrade.

Third one had a Talon upgrade and a Saber.

So, so far I'd say they're pretty okay =]

I actually like the feeling of progress... and spending money to immediately go out and get the best guns seems so pointless to me. I just unlocked the Mattock II and I felt so good when it happened. I don't just want 10 or 20 spectre packs and all the good shotties, sniper rifles, pistols, etc. I really enjoy unlocking them one by one and going out and trying them. That is the reward I get from this game... It is not from having all the best stuff right away.

Um spending money is just as random as using in game credits. Both ways you end up just getting a butt loa of charachter cards and nothing else .......... Stupid broken unlock system ..... If it's going to give me damn charachter cards it could at least give me cards for the 2 charachters that I don't have all appearence options for not the ones that have all of them >.<

Well, it took me 3 months to gather up the money for the N7 collector edition. I'd never spend money in the game. Because I can't afford it. Even if I have a job. But I envy those who can throw their money out the window. Hrmm... Eastern Europe sucks....

Well, it is random and choosing to spend real money on it is your incentive.

It's like gambling with your money but the reward you get can't be applied back into the real world, so if you win, you're still losing.

God, how'd they do that...

They did that because you're silly.

LOL, people actually buy item packs with real money??? What is this I don't even. Plus, it defeats 62.661% of the purpose of playing ME3 multiplayer in the first place.

These people serve a purpose in the grand scheme of things, and we need to embrace them for what they do. Without them, Bioware and EA wouldn't be able to say that ME3 multiplayer is a moneymaker. Because it is, we have a higher liklihood in getting new content for multiplayer for free rather then paid-for DLC. Bioware won't want to split up the player base by seperating people by DLC walls, so these people are helping assure that the multiplayer will only get better.

I realize it seems strange and crazy that people would want to pay money for packs, but its a time vs money proposition. If someone has less time then they have money, and they're willing to pay for packs, then they have the option. It's important to note that there's nothing inherantly evil about Bioware providing the option. Options are how you keep your customers happy.

Please stop alienating and attacking our pay-to-play comrades. We who do not pay provide the people to play alongside for the paying players to play with, and we all profit as a result in a continually supported game. This is the basic idea of how a 'free to play' game works, and these people are the SOLE reason Bioware will continue to provide content and support for multiplayer.

Some people have disposable income. How many of you have spent over $100 multiple times on a phone? I've had the same phone for 5 years....and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Oh look, there's a couple hundred $ that you spent on something silly. How many of you drink every weekend? There's $20 thrown up on the floor a week.

Not everyone is hurting for money, and not everyone enjoys the things you guys do. Some people LOVE this game. Some people just love gaming, and have a lot of disposable income. For instance, I was at the local mall the other day. I saw a replica Cleaver from Gears of War 3 made of foam for $30. Didn't think twice before taking it home with me. Why? Because I love silly, nerdy stuff like that. How I spend my money is my business, and if I get joy from buying MS points to use in ME3, I will.

Sure, you can call me a "fool" or a "sheep" for using MS/BW points. I'm sorry your opinion is different than mine. Blame me for the "future ruination" of gaming, as you claim will happen.

I'll call you a sheep for spending $100+ for a phone you don't need, getting drunk every weekend in hopes of getting laid, supporting rap, the creation of that horror known as The Hangover 2, and buying name brand Nike gear at a 500% markup over non-brand clothing. Why? Because my opinion is different than yours. And while I may be "destroying the future of gaming" in your opinion, the rest of you are destroying the future of everything else in my opinion -_-

Congrats...we have differing opinions on what is worth what. That's how the world works.

LOL EA doesnt think like that, they are money grabbing ****s. expect £5-10 Map packs, same again for races. screw splitting the community, if you wanna remain competetive you have to buy the content.

That asside, what someone does with thier own money is thier business, just dont come whining about it when you play the slots and loose your cash. That is also your problem.

The problem though is that there isn't really any progress. You can buy a Spectre pack and immediately get the best shotgun or sniper rifle or whatever at like N7 25. My friend had the Widow, Paladin, Black Widow, Geth Plasma Shotgun and more that I can't remember before reaching N7 80. Call of Duty and Battlefield have progress when you start with basic stuff and slowly get better equipment until you eventually get the best weapons and their attachments.

Besides, I played the single player, I already got all of the weapons and got to try them out (with the exception of the Wraith, because well, f**k shotguns). I already know how like 99% of these weapons work and just getting the weapons in random order doesn't really do anything for me since I already know what works and what doesn't. I get a Geth Pulse Rifle or an Incisor and I already know that I don't like it and am just going to stick with my Avenger or my Widow or my Disciple or my Carnifax.

I've bought about 15 now. Not by spending real money, because I'm not dumb, but from my gold farming.

Even though they're not as great as I thought the would be, I have gotten a few gems:

Widow VII, VIII, IX.
Paladin III.
Javelin.

Plus a lot of other weapons I don't use are near maxed. Geth Plasma Shotgun is at IX.
