So, now it's over...

I have finished the game. There is no multiplayer and therefore no motivation to try to learn anything about the toolset (which is practically inaccessible anyway). .
This game box goes on the stack of other game boxes. No extended, community-based lifespan for Dragon Age, like there was for NWN. Bioware really dropped the ball and betrayed this former fan's trust and reasonable expectations - based on the long vaporware history and advertisements for Dragon Age. I wish I had known about the limited life before I payed for this. I certainly wouldn't have purchased the collector's edition.
Oh, yeah, there will be those who will vilify me for daring to be critical of a game they are stil playing, unthinking fan boys who will end up echoing my views in maybe another 20 or so hours, when they too finish the campaign and realize there is nothing more.
There really isn't anything left to do but clear the diskspace and wait for someone to show the initiative and vision Bioware once had. Of course, it's not like Bioware didn't know. NWN would teach any rational person what the customers loved, wanted and craved. No more of my money goes into Bioware's coffers until htey rediscover that vision.
Hobbled potential - it's in the game!

I've also purposefully not downloaded Shale or Wardens Keep for my first playthrough. I think that adding those, with a differant character origin and class will probably be enough for me to enjoy a second playthrough.
Everyone reacts in their own way, though. I hope you at least enjoyed it while it lasted for you.

You did know that there wasn't any multiplayer before you bought the game, didn't you? No, there isn't limited life. The main campaign is actually quite long, and community made levels will prolong the life of the game even more. Along with expansions and DLC, of course.
You're basically wrong with any point you try to make. Except that there isn't multiplayer.
And no, not every human being wants multiplayer. And that is not because they are dumb, I assure you.

Because yea, we're fanboys for having a realistic and reasonable veiw of what a game is. We're fanboys because we don't think offering Warden's Keep for DLC means the 80 hour game is incomplete as purchased. We're fanboys because we feel that seeing the extra dialog for the other origins is enough reason to replay it. We're fanboys for wanting to see the story from a different perspective next time, by playing as evil or good. We're fanboys for realizing that the purchase price of the game is for the incredible game we recieved, not whatever comes later. We're fanboys for realizing that a great modding community don't just happen, but needs to be built.
Seriously, the game just released, and it's really long. A ton of people aren't done with it yet. The modding community included. I plan to develop at least one small quest, but I'm not going to do that until I'm done playing the game through a few times.
Further, NWN was easier to mod because the technology was older and simpler. Games take more development strength now. Great indi games are less common now for a reason. I go to school for 3D Animation and Game Design, and while its far from impossible, this stuff is a lot harder for your average basement computer jockey to learn on his own now-a-days.
And besides all of that, you payed for a game, and you got a great one. You got a game that offers over twice the average length of a game released these days. You were not ripped off. This complaint is like going to see a movie on opening night and being upset because you can't go to borders and pick up a book that follows up the movie immediately after. You didn't pay for that. And with mods, you don't pay at all, it's by the community, for the community. BioWare provides the tools, and beyond that, the modding community isn't really their responsibility.
You want a mod so bad, make one. Don't come here and complain that the community hasn't supported the game enough for you. We'll get to it when we're ready. Wait, or work.

Try not to think of it in terms of not wanting to replay the game using one of the many Origin stories, or trying a completely different path, etc. Games like NWN are not the norm out there, they are the exception and come along very rarely...I think sometimes we just expect too much.
I've had over 70 hours on my first runthrough and just finished my second Origin story - I cannot complain about $$$ value!

The lack of multiplayer was announced a long, long time ago so I dont see why that argument has any weight, I'm sorry the TS doesnt feel his money was well spent but the argumentation is rather ludicrous imho.

AMEN! This is EXACTLY what I've been trying to say, but noooo! Fan boys **** at me! They can't take that I disagree with them! Well guess what you idiots, you wasted your money on a game that scrapes the bottom in the barrel of accepting, like we all did, and yet you still swear by that Bioware is awesome? They might've once been, I don't know, but I sure as hell know that Bioware sets a standard MUCH lower then other game devs. Don't believe me? Go try it for yourself. This game is in my opinion the BOTTOM of the RPG heap.

Like you, I wish they had and, like you, the time I'll spend in DA is limited, but lets not kid ourselves that this was some sort of huge mistake on their part.
