Only thing I found really odd was how some posters believe the majority likes what they do...
I for one know very few people who enjoy multiplayer and actually find it tedious but that speck on the world's population hardly counts as a great gauge regarding what others might think.

Multiplayer is also what is slowly but surely crippling the videogame community as a whole. Have you interacted with most of the people you meet via games? I'm quite fine with a singleplayer game, thanks!
Only one thing dissapointed me about this game, and it isn't even a major issue or anything. Won't mention it here on the "no spoilers" forum though.
With NWN we were able to restrict who could and could not play, so you could have a game with some friends - even, after much modification, a persistent world for friends - if desired. If people don't want to partake of this sort of thing, that is their right (obviously) but that doesn't mean the option should be denied those who enjoyed this aspect of gaming, now does it?
When I speak of multiplayer, I am ot talking about WoW or DDO or EQ or GW. I am speaking of the kind of multiplayer NWN offered us. This didn't limit us to being stuck in common areas with children mindlessly accusing each other of being "gaylords."
My point is a little larger than that, perhaps a little too subtle for the pre-teen set.

I don't understand why people with the viewpoint of the OP continue to post their rants here. If you don't like the game and you're not going to play anymore... then please, for the love of god... stop coming here and posting this crap!! Go and look for other games you WANT to play and leave us alone.
Perhaps they want to give their feedback before they head out?
People want to be heard. Dis-satisfied people want to make their disatisfaction known.
This is a discussion board for discussing DA. Part and parcel of these kinds of boards have always been "farewell" posts and rants about "short-commings". The beauty of this kind of place is that you can choose not to involve yoursel in a conversation you don't see the point of.

Because Bioware did something truly astonishing when they created NWN. The sheer innovation and vision involved indicated a respect of gaming and gamers, not just as sources of income but as people enjoying a common interest. It is only appropriate that gamers speak when that vision is abandoned, and them along with it.
An opinion not spoken is an opinion not heard.

Good job with the ignorant trolling guy. Everyone who did not play MP NWN is a 10 year old?
BW has stated why DAO is not NWN style, did you skip over the only 10% CDs ever went online w/ NWN?

look at world of snorecraft, before i quit almost everyone actively playing the end-game was moaning about how much the game sucked.
dragon age is pure quality. i've already got my 3rd character to level 17 and i'm desperate for some nice big custom campaigns to be released.

I think most of us who are the least bit plugged in has known this for a while. Devs came right out and said, a while back, that not every game has to be like NWNx. Doesn't mean we're happy about it and aren't goint to say we're not happy about it.

I have finished the game. There is no multiplayer and therefore no motivation to try to learn anything about the toolset (which is practically inaccessible anyway). .
This game box goes on the stack of other game boxes. No extended, community-based lifespan for Dragon Age, like there was for NWN. Bioware really dropped the ball and betrayed this former fan's trust and reasonable expectations - based on the long vaporware history and advertisements for Dragon Age. I wish I had known about the limited life before I payed for this. I certainly wouldn't have purchased the collector's edition.
Oh, yeah, there will be those who will vilify me for daring to be critical of a game they are stil playing, unthinking fan boys who will end up echoing my views in maybe another 20 or so hours, when they too finish the campaign and realize there is nothing more.
There really isn't anything left to do but clear the diskspace and wait for someone to show the initiative and vision Bioware once had. Of course, it's not like Bioware didn't know. NWN would teach any rational person what the customers loved, wanted and craved. No more of my money goes into Bioware's coffers until htey rediscover that vision.
Hobbled potential - it's in the game!
I basically agree, I'm an adult with a life and career and such, so I ain't gonna be doing 5-6 playthroughs of this game like some of the fanboi kids on these forums. once I finish it it will most likely be deleted from my hd until a mod worthy of testing out will come out. But since it is only single player.. even the mods will not lengthen the game that much.
even for those who DO replay it 5-6 times... that, imo, is not replayability in the slightest.

As for MP support, I don't see how the pause and play aspect of the game could possibly work in MP...not to mention the ripple effect of personal choices in the world.

"Good job with the ignorant trolling guy. "
Are you addressing me here or trying to depict me? Your meaning (if any) is about as clear as the rest of your childishly hyper-aggressive nonsense.
"Everyone who did not play MP NWN is a 10 year old?"
I don't recall saying that, but if straw men are all you have...
I will say that your "discussion" style makes me wonder about you. For example, did you know that there are ages after 10 years old that are preteen? Apparently you didn't. .
"BW has stated why DAO is not NWN style, did you skip over the only 10% CDs ever went online w/ NWN?"
I didn't skip it at all. 10% of an entire fan base is pretty significant, especially when it represents potential future purchases. !0% of 100 people is pretty small. 10% of a much larger base represents quite a bit of potential money to be made.

All you need to look at is the games value without anything but what comes in the box, personally i paid 54.99 at Wal-Mart and i can say that i don't feel ripped off at all, this game has great value and re-playability right outta the box. The addition of DLC and anything the community comes up with is just all an added bonus. I AM NO FAN BOY OF ANY GAME. The only thing at present that totally annoys me about this game is the small mem leak it has other then that awesome game Bioware...
Now, I didn't say I didn't enjoy the game (I did, after all indicate that I played it through, now didn't I?) for what it was. I just would like to have seen the potential fully developed - more or less as was done with NWN. Without that potential, this game was not worth the $70 I spent on the collector's edition. It's a $40 game at best without multiplayer (in the way I have descibed multiplayer functionality) functionality. If I had payed $40, I might be inclined to agree with your assessment, although I would still be displeased at seeing a toolset with little use.
One person indicated that the available user community content is likely to be significantly less than we would see with multiplayer functionality. I agree with that, and I think community content is a good thing - it extends the life of the game. This is why I applaud NWN so vigorously. I'm a fan boy; I admit it - of the enabling mentality and customer respect exhibited by Bioware when they made NWN. I more the slaughter of that mentality in favour oif hobbling the game EA-style.

These games don't lend themselves to multiplayer. Since there's such a strong focus on story, some people will want to blaze through it because they've already done it. Others will want to go slowly even if they've done it a million times. Some people will want to kill Zevran, others will want to romance him etc...
There's too much focus on the individual decisions in this game to make it multiplayer friendly. To have something like NWN, you need the developers to focus more on the toolkit and the like so you end up with a campaign like NWN.
I say, I'm glad there's no MP. If I want to play something with friends, I'll take something built specifically to accommodate that kind of interaction. Say, Team Fortress 2 or L4D2.
