I just reached my acceptance stage. Took down my banners, packing my bags, setting a course for clearer waters. Maybe somewhere sunny, like Halo 4 or GTA V. One thing is for sure, I'll never forget this movement, and the good things that it's done. It's been an honor serving with you. Hack it out.

Seriously, I hate the ending too, but mostly because it doesn't make sense. Give this DLC a chance before despairing. Its free, its only been vaguely described, and it MIGHT address some of the things that bug you most. Is god-child still there? Yes (and he's annoying...and illogical). Are the relays gone? Yes. Is you squad doomed on an alien planet? Hopefully not, but I don't see a way to fix that one. The point is though, we don't know what this "fix" is, and if we aren't willing to trust them long enough to read these forums and come up with answers to our questions, why did we bother protesting? They weren't going to grovel. They weren't going to announce a complete retcon or that they were wrong. We wanted an epilogue, and we're getting it. They're claiming this offers closure and clarification, and that's what we asked for. Keep your wallet closed, hold the line, and cross your fingers that this is a win. No point walking out on this before its released. Well, don't haunt the forums, but don't give up either. If this thing makes the game playable again (i.e. tells me I didn't commit genocide and that there's a chance in heck my squad survives), I'll say we won, and I'll say thank you to everyone who spoke out and made this happen.

All they care about, all they address with this DLC, are their sales! They polish their reputation, nothing more. If they would have listened, they would know that fans don't give a damn about clarifying this ending.

I disagree with you, while the final moments of Starchild space magic were quite poorly written my main problem with the ending was thinking my choices had no impact. If they add a text and cinematic based epilogue I will now see how my choices effected the galaxy post relays, if my shepard ever reunited with liara etc.

"Letting go is good...your captain will be pleased."

What this all amounts to is that we are now seeing the beginning of what has always been the most likely and feasible conclusion to what began on March 6: Bioware didn't purposely release an unfinished game with the plan to cash in on "Real Ending" DLC; the Indoctrination Theory, while certainly plausible and amusing, was always wishful thinking.

The "horrible truth" is this: there was no conspiracy; no accidents. Did release date pressures from EA exist and contribute to a rushed ending? Probably. Did, for some reason, the ending sequence of the game have far less rigorous peer-review than the rest of the game? It's quite possible. As they say, the simplest explanation is often the correct one: BioWare made what is nearly universally agreed upon as a plain bad ending. One of the worst in entertainment history, no doubt; amplified by the greatness and expectations of what came before. The plot holes; the removal of choice; the implications that nothing you did mattered ... it happened. It's the canon Mass Effect universe. Nothing can change that. The ending was simply bad. Mourn and move on, what else can one do?

Is the truth shocking and upsetting based on BioWare's pedigree, and also just going on the highs that come before the end in Mass Effect 3 itself (commonly cited as Tuchanka, Rannoch and pre-elevator Citadel)? Yes. But it happened, and now that we have 100% confirmation that there will be no changes made to the current endings, maybe the issues can be put to rest.

As for the "Extended Cut" itself, is it what most people wanted? I think it's safe to say no. What most people really want is for their calendar to say March 5; to not know that the ending could go so wrong. But as far as I know time travel isn't possible. Will most fans enjoy watching Jacob and Garrus get together and have that drink in memory of Shepard? Definitely. Will they enjoy the reveal that in those last moments aboard the Normandy, Shepard got Liara/Ashley/Miranda/etc. pregnant? I think so. The character closure will be nice. But the end we got is still The End. At least of the Shepard trilogy.

I hope BioWare can revisit the Mass Effect universe in the future, and do it with integrity. Here's hoping.

Its over guys. The Star child is true, those ridiculous plot holes are there for "artistic purpose" and thats it. ME series is dead and so is my trust for bioware brand. Way to go EA/Bioware...

The battle's over. Holding the line now means keeping our word. Promises where made by the community, hold to them. Don't give another cent to Bioware or EA. Encourage everyone you know to do the same.

Was it not for BioWare's reputation among other game developers and gaming media, they would've probably changed the ending, or added another solution, but we've got to give in. It is still just a game, and while it's a damn shame to just let go of it after such an unwanted ending, i don't think we can push BioWare any farther. This "Extended Cut" DLC is the best they can and will do, and we should appreciate that, and start praising Mass Effect 3 for all the great things it had instead. We held the line, and it mattered.

Already let go for a while, when I realize they're full of their pride to can't admit that they really
messed up with thier promises.

for me, time to move on. Bioware not the only one that can make a good rpg. although I think
they are stuck with sucessful in past and not see that other dev. are move ahead of them from
time to tome.

BioWare doesn't care about its fans and it does not listen.

They are artistic bigots and I could care less if the company went under.

I agree, maybe we should just move on.

Although I agree, I find it so hard to let go of the thing I've loved so much over the last 5 years. However, I'm begining to think that maybe I loved it too much.
Or just put too much love into something that's ultimately controlled by someone else. Who can do as they please, when they see fit.
Either way i'm waiting till PAX tomorrow to hear the verdict. We'll go from there, one step at a time.

I agree, Im checking out

Damage is done, they can’t fix this.I won’t play until the summer DLC comes out then I will download and look at it but it just does not have the same feel or appeal ME has had the past 5 years now.

Not going to waste time or money on this anymore.

this tbh mass effect will remain broken forever, whats the point of playing it ever again, let alone buy dlc, knowing theyre not doing anything to the sucky ending.
i wasted 5 years playing this game to achieve a flaming dogturd on my hallway, bioware do it again, i expected it with dA2 after witch hunt flaming turn, but the mass effect team as well?????

casey hudson is responsible for mass effects demise and mediocrity way to go.
bioware is on its way thru the fail tree, hitting every branch on the way down, good luck....

back to bethesda, they actually listen to fans, not lie

i <3 Bethesda!! Skyrim!  Fallout 3!! Fallout: New Vegas!! Fallout 4 Possibly!!

and their dlc arent here use this character and heres a 10 minute mission for $10. You get your moneys worth from their dlc!!

This part of their statement really saddens me:

"For many of you the “Extended Cut” will help answer some questions and give closure to this chapter of the Mass Effect story."

They still don't realize that they're killing the franchise.

Anyway I'm also letting this go. I'll wait and see what they'll say at PAX, and play the DLC once it's released since it's free but I won't be buying their products anymore.

They've been planning all along on running this ship aground. I can't say I blame them for wanting to hit the refresh button on the IP.

i agree with op.  i cant let this game do this to me.  i have loved the series till the last ten minutes.  and with the microtransactions and other ea practices i will have to just move on and not support them in the future.

I think i had enough... my life is getting worked up by some stupid game, really. Lurking here all day and waiting for some information about a game that clearly the developers don't care enough to be changed for the better.
I won't even make a wall of text to explain my greatest disappointment in the franchise. I think most of us need to let go and move on.
If i didn't care that much i would've probably loved the ending, but i do and i can't change what i'm feeling inside. I will wait until tomorrow to see what they say at PAX and then i will draw my final conclusion. But what's done is done and we can't keep "holding the line" forever and we won't be able to do more than we just did.

Well said, I think you've captured the disappointment and betrayal we are all feeling about this.

I have a lot of hobbies. Most of them involve doing things...um...outside. I'm not going to sit in front of a computer anymore waiting for a fix that isn't coming do to horrendous decision-making on BioWare's part.

I don't see a point in holding on anymore, seems like BioWare has made their announcement and it seems like they don't care what their fan's have to say, so I am done spending money on BioWare EA and will be renting their games from now on.

I'm letting go once this ending DLC is out. That will decide if I'm letting go of a game series I'll always remember fondly, or if I'm letting go of a disappointment that I hope I can forget quickly.

See you when DA3 is release ?

DA3 is made by different people, but right now i won't buy anything else that says "BioWare" on it. If they somehow make things better i will do a 180 degree change.
