It has been announced today that BioWare will be releasing a free Extended Cut DLC which, according to their FAQ, will add extra scenes, but will not change the current ending.

The response has been mixed, with some celebrating victory, while others insist that this DLC does not fix the multitude of issues with the current ending.

What's your opinion on this? Please vote in the poll and comment here.

I, personally, think that they have missed the point completely. The ending is a problem, which does not need a clarification, but rather needs fixing. I thank you, BioWare, for making steps toward redemption, but you have to understand, that this DLC will not help. Please look into the problems with the ending listed multiple times and address them directly.

Yes, finally the polls are back with a vengeance. Let all those who said they would never return be cast down from thy BSN. I voted, twice!

Clarification is good enough for me.

I'd prefer they got rid of the Normandy crash, and changed the Catalyst's appearance, but I quite like what they tried to do with the endings. If they can explain away most of the plotholes I'll be relatively fine with them.

Clarification is important for the current endings. However, most of us wanted different endings. Endings that did not leave us depressed. No, clarification is not good enough. We are still forced to make choices we loathe making. Polishing a turd is all this is. Shine it as much as ya want. It'll still be a turd.

I hope I'm wrong. I loved this series once.

No. It is abundantly clear that the starchild is completely disconnected from the rest of the game. An epilogue attached to those endings is merely polishing a turd.
Artistic vision means a commitment to artistic excellence, and that means fixing mistakes when necessary.

No.

I have no problem with understanding the ending.

It's the godchild and the fact that I just blew up half of the galaxy that I'm annoyed about.

... and the plotholes.

There's a big difference between the words "Clarify" and "Change". One is very vague, and the other is more specific. The fans wanted to hear something specific.

The vaguer of the two words can have the same meaning as the specific word. But not unless you're being specific. Then you just come across as being vague. The fans didn't want vague.

True indeed. Apparently, some retakers are starting to give up. They do not realise that, by losing their ground to conformists, the endings are never going to be changed and BioWare will still have enough of a fanbase to serve.

We need to show them that the 90% are not gone. Those 60k people are still around and they are still not happy having their decisions made for them.

This is progress, but I doubt it will be enough. I will reserve judgment until I've played through the DLC, but it'd have to be one hell of a clarification to fix this mess. I don't think it's possible to solve the problem with mere clarification.

Hey, um, voting twice is kind of...um...well, I guess you don't mind this poll being quickly invalidated.

No matter what words you choose to describe a broken car and the clarification of your choice of vocabulary afterwards, the thing is still a broken car.

Same thing with the ending. You can polish that copper all you want but it's not gonna turn into gold Bioware.

BioWare have explicitly stated in their blog that this DLC will NOT change the ending. That's pretty specific.

Makes one wonder who were BioWare "listening" to.
