First of all - I think it is a great effort that the community got EA/BW to actually do something - even for free.
I, for myself, critized the lack of closure and the plotholes most at the ending. I could live ( which doesn't mean I was very happy with it ) with the lack of choice and the actual ending itself. But I was pissed because of some things which didn't make sense ( e.g. Normandy flying away ).
Now with the extended cut, they address especially those concerns, so I should be happy - but why am I not?
Because ( in my opinion ) some "closure and explanation " DLC was pointless from the start.
The problem is the fact that they actually don't have any explanations at the moment.
The writers will now sit together, with a list of plotholes and will be all like
" Okay we need to make something up which explains [Insert Random Plothole here] ".
And thats the point... "make something up". Or does someone really think they had explanations ( and a system behind the plot ) all along but just didn't want to tell us?
In my eyes, those things will be meaningless because theyre, as said, just made up.
In other words:
What's the difference between a explanaition Bioware just wrote because out of pressure from the community and some well written fan fiction ending?
Of course some people will disagree with me now, and I can understand them. But for me it's just not doing it. Don't get me wrong - I am not all like " Okay since I dont like this solution I want something else"
I actually made (more ore less) my peace with the ending and BW and accepted that the ME universe is done for me - but stil wander around this board because I hoped there will be some way in which they would make everything allright..
Why the Extended Cut will be meaningless to some people
