Unfortunately, ME3 will be the last dime I spend on the company (or EA) after this debacle.

I'm sure you will all survive despite the fact that the ending to your favorite video game wasn't that great. Somehow you'll pick up the pieces of your shattered lives and move on.

This wasn't my favorite game (Secret of Mana FTW!)

But it was my favorite saga
And it died, it took a stab in the back at the last moment

We may not have won but we didn't lose either. That is fact. I'm upset but I am going to vote with my wallet. I won't let them turn us into the bad guys. Raging will do nothing.

We didn't lose TAO and you know it. Without us nothing would have happened.

To be honest I would've preferred nothing to this.
This just gives a lot of people ammunition to troll us, spam "Thank you BioWare!!!" threads and pretend everything's alright when it isn't.

Anyone saying those things hasn't been paying attention to what a lot of us have been saying in the first place, so if they're not going to pay attention to us, don't see the point in paying attention to them.

I had never seen them before though... :bandit:

As usual I agree with you , but......

I never thought we'd get a new ending. I wanted clarification and expansion so that the end can make sense in context to the rest of the game that came before. This probably isn't possible, but i wanted them to try....
Free DLC is a good start........................I will wait and reserve judgement then.

"The artistic vision of the Mass Effect team must be preserved!"
I actually agree. It's their vision and their game. But here's the thing. The ending is not their vision. The ending is the vision of one man, the lead writer, who wrote and implimented it without peer review.
The ending as it is completely destroys the artistic vision of the writing team. It contradicts it. It cheapens it. It makes it all irrelevant. Not only ME3, but the entire trilogy.
That's the real dangerous precident here. That we allow one person, who did not create the universe in the first place, to ultimately decide the fate of a team effort.

+1

And now the team (I hope!) is stuck with it and will do whatever they can to make it fit better to the game.

Seriously, though. There was never a snowball's chance that the ending would get a wholesale replacement. I just hope that what they add is enough to close plotholes and let Shepard have an interactive argument with the Starchild. That still leaves the thematic break and the "what a coincidence!" of the Normandy's arbitrarily perfect, bad timing. But, ironically, once things are laid out more concretley, the desired player speculations will have something to be built on.

Well, I'm willing to meet BioWare halfway. They can't really "undo" the ending at this point. It's out there, it's bad, and history will probably keep it on the "10 worst video game endings" list for some time to come. But, at this point, I'm more concerned with the company's relationship with its fans. This DLC is at least a good faith olive branch. It might not be everything we wanted, but there's no way it could be - people want different things, and some people really did like the ending. As long as they put some sincere effort into it, I will be satisfied.

The damage is done though. I will no longer be throwing money at BioWare sight unseen.

I dont know.  Based on a lot of the posts I've seen today, I have doubts about this.

Aye. The problem is, BioWare has said some of those things.

They pushed the reset button on the entire franchise.

It's clear to me now. They don't want to prioritize story-telling in Mass Effect anymore so they torched the original universe so they could build a new one. That's why Star Damion was introduced - to turn Mass Effect into a clean slate so that they didn't have to take all that continuity into whatever they wanted to do in the future.

I'm so sick of EA and their money laundering. I hope when the time comes all the studios they burned to the ground get to tell everyone the truth about how they really work. This is about deadlines and Bioware saying, "All this continuity was great until we couldn't meet them."

Did we expect too much?

No. We expected story telling from a company working for a publisher that prioritizes profit over quality. This was the nail in the coffin folks. We are never seeing old Bioware again they're toast.

I agree. Funny that the answer "We're not changing the ending, we're sticking to our version, sorry" would be perfectly understandable. Instead we got another PR spin.

I strongly support the Retake movement.

But who knows, maybe this will close the plotholes & provide good epilogues for all the characters.

i HIGHLY DOUBT it...but I will at least youtube it and if it is worth my while, I will replay the game.

If not, no more $$ from me for EAoware.
