Using DLC to cover your ass is as much a breach of 'Artistic integrity' as using it to change the ending.

I didn't realize you had ordered our own personalized copy of Mass Effect 3's ending. How dare they give you one ending when you clearly ordered another!

I'm pretty sure you didn't read all those threads about Bioware lying during pre-release. Using the resturant analogy, Bioware hypes up how awesome their steak is, and how many options you can get of it. You go for it and order steak, since you've enjoyed the steak they've given you the past times. They give you proddige, then when you ask for steak, they give you more porridge.

That said, I want to acknolwedge something. In this thread in many others, I come in hoping I can add a lot to the conversation. But Angry seems to have posts that manage to say whatever I wanted to say, but a bit better. I'm a bit disappointed, but also happy.  So thanks Angry One.

I didn't buy any DA2 DLC due to the fact I didn't like the rushed product..Same goes here. Always best to vote with your wallet..That speaks louder than anything.

Yeah, this is the same reason they killed Shepard at the beginning of ME2, to make a fresh start. It's no coincidence that they pretty much destroyed everything in ME3. ME4 will be pure pew, pew ,pew.

IMO  the FAQ just meant they WON'T change any of that. Doesn't mean they won't offer more choices off that ending.

Are there going to be more/different endings in the future?


No.

I can't imagine them adding more choices that would just lead to the same endings.

tbh, Bioware releasing a free DLC in response to the fans is unheard of. I'm going to put this bluntly and say, we were lucky enough to get it.
I myself have played all 3 mass effect games racking 400+ hours for all of them. I was one of the first people to hold the line and I quite giddily jumped up with glee after hearing the announcement. You argue that the reason that the ending is bad is because it disrespects your opinion. Well, that is, your opinion.
The majority of the people who had a problem with the ending, was the plot holes, closure, and a few wanting a happy ending. Well, with the (free!) DLC patch, the majority of the "minority" (as some labelled it) will begin to fall apart. I will get what I want with this patch, a happy ending, and closure. With this, I think that the ending actually does the mass effect series quite well, as the whole details of the story being lost in time fits wonderfully well. Yes, in the end, it all boils down to RGB, but it's the choices you made and how they played out that matter most with this series.

I agree with OP. This is not a victory for the Retake, but this is also definately not a victory for bioware... this is going to bite them in the future dlc/games.

Well, the worst thing about the ending IMHO is Shepard's surrender to the Bieber-Reaper. Accepting his options without question. Shepard as a character was completely destroyed in the ending, and that's what bugs me the most. I believe a lot of people share the same feeling as I do. I can't think of a way this new DLC would fix this, so no, it's not a victory at all for me.

I wonder how Bioware would respond to this thread, but I can't see them ever doing so.

It is not unheard of.  The Witcher developers rewrote the user interface and rerendered the 3D models/animation due to complaints from fans.  They also added more content. They then released it as a free upgrade.  These were not trivial changes, and had to invest a lot into it.  They recognized their fans had valid complaints and they fixed it.

Again, I don't think that means that there can't be more added to the ending we got. Just that, they aren't going to change the ending itself.

I guess it just depends how we define the "ending". I personally think the entire end plot with the Citadel/Catalyst/Reaper Motivation IS the ending. And that's what they won't change. I understand that by adding more choices, that's technically "changing the ending".

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Absolutely agree with all the OP's points. I'm sick of people telling me I'm "entitled" when I wanted to pay, "whiny" when I only offer my opinion, and to "go away if I don't like it" when the reason I'm here is because I DID like so much. 
I never went on the forums 'till post ME3. And I only came on because I thought maybe I could make a tiny bit of difference. Maybe Bioware will still pull off something pretty good, but it won't be as amazing as it could have been. I'm just exhausted from hoping so hard. Here's to tomorrow.

The very reasons you listed above is why I'll buy the Witcher 2 for Xbox 360 even though I already own the PC version.  I want CD Projek RED to have my money, they have earned it.  They listen to their fans.
