Dragon Age achievement points. What are they good for? Anything?

The achievements are neat to have, but having points that aren't tied to a universal system seems pointless to me. It confused the hell out of me at first, because I thought that the achievement points were the same as EA points... frankly, giving out DLC to dedicated players, even if it's "secondary" DLC like new items, seems like a really cool idea, and I'm not sure why they didn't go with it. Oh, right. Money.

Yes, it can be confusing at 1st. There are two ways to measure the achievements by point and total number. Let say I have 50 achievements and you have 50 achievements as well, one could argue the person with the most points wins because the "harder" are worth more points then easier ones.

Appologies in advance for such a nooby question

As i have a question about achievments i will post it here instead of starting a new thread.

I have only recently purchased Dragon Age:origins and have recently been coming across these achievments and unlocking them in  my first playthrough.

My question is where do i actually view what achievments i have unlocked on my game? I dont have internet at home. Can you only view these things online or is there some menu in my game i can see what i have unlocked?

I have looked in character record and heroic acomlishments and things but cant find it. is it on the start up menu or something?

Thanks in advance for any help on this question.

I think it would make perfect sense that you can get achievements in one game and in doing so earn points you can use to buy DLC for another game (or the same game).
This is what I actually thought to be the case until I saw I had 0 "BioWare Points". Because frankly, I'm not paying $20 for 1.6k points just so I can use 400 to buy one DLC pack.

But if that's not how the achievement points work, I have to wonder why no one has thought of doing that yet. It would be a brilliant marketing strategy, provided you can minimise the possibility of people cheating to get achievements.

And yes, I'm well aware I'm reviving a long-dead thread. Blame Google.

It is actually useful (you reviving the thread, not the achievement points). I wondered what the use of the points was, but I never googled the question. However, now hat I stumbled upon this thread raised from the dead and know what's the point of the points. And there's no point to the points. It's all pointless. I should have known, Xan says it all the time "what's the point?".

*edit: there would be a point in a preview screen for your posts, now I just post and edit afterwards to correct spelling errors etc.

Really just bragging rights. It looks like a hold over from the console versions, and even on those they don't do a thing. Some people just like getting them.

I at least like how things worked in Mass Effect with achievements allowing you to unlock abilities not unique to your class or across all your saves.

Well, I suppose some of the Dragon Age DLC achievements do give you items in the main game. And like Mass Effect, unlocked specialisations stay unlocked for all playthroughs, so that's something.
