Welcome to all the new members of the movement! We are truly glad you are here and support the cause. Not only does this help yourself, this will also help the entire gaming industry progress.
As for the above, I disagree. An AAA title CAN be art, it's however very rare to see since AAA usually equals a game backed by a gigantic corporation with a broad audience as target. Sadly, art does not often equal a broad audience.
Furthermore games, because they are games, are often viewed as not being art. but why not?
Look at games like:
- Amnesia with excelent voice acting and great suspense. a truly immersive environment
- Journey and Limbo. no conversations, simply being there, wandering and exploring.
- Elder Scrolls games. A truly free world, extreme detail for lore and conversations (just take a look at the number of book titles in the games. many of these books have at least 20 pages or more)
- Braid. At first glance a simple puzzle game but with a hidden, much deeper meaning.
- The Mass Effect series, even though the end ruined the replayability of the series, that does not change the fact that I got teary-eyed on quite a few ocassions.
I could continue for a while with this list but for my point this should do. There are already games out there that surpass simple entertainment purposes, and the Mass Effect series had the possibilty to not only expand on that list, but expand on what we define as 'games'
Games have the ability to broaden our perspective, to make us rethink current issues and problems, to make us feel emotionally conected to the characters and the struggles they are facing. Games can and will be one day, recognized as art. It is up to us to make that happen

Hahaha, my thought exactly! :innocent:
Did you see my long, long edit after?
Ah, I'll just post it here ;-)
Thank you for the tips Blazerer! I love TES (and I fell in love with Tomb Raider, too, although it's just action) and Mass Effect, those are the only ones that have really caught me.
I'm not very good at knowing games (I am hopelssly bad at playing e.g. GTA4 and Assasins Creed (my 12 y/o niece had to help me through the tutorial in that onel!! that says alot about me, and Call of Duty et cetera LOL but ok, I wouldn't mind trying again), although I am picky as well.
I didn't like Bioshock - just tried it a little -- should probably try again. And Halo 3, I understood NOTHING! hahaha
And I want it to be good subtitles, like in ME1 - I don't see that happening though - and I want to be able to play as a female, which according to wikipedia, many times, when I check games there, they aren't always accurate (of course, I can't blame them - just would love to know more games).
When I do a search now, for RPG-games - it narrows it down to Dragon Age (I think it was called) and Kingdoms of Ama...something ---- Bioware and EA-games, I believe - so it leaves me to....nothing :'-(
edit: Well, of course, I still have Skyrim, which I have spent many, many hours on as well. :-)

then buy the games used. that way ea makes no money off of the purchase. you can do as you feel, but i choose not to support them with my money till things change.

Well, I was thinking about a revolt involving a bunch of Reapers who had just been recently indoctrinated,The_Crazy_Hand wrote...

You know what I'd like to see for a new ending? Some Reapers revolting against their leader/creator, be that the AI child or whomever, and joining Shepard in this battleAnd yeah, some great battle against Harbinger or some other super Reaper like the human Reaper (now, that was creepy).
Eh, it'd be contradictory to the reaper plot itself, so it makes sense for them to operate on a hive mind. That said, Harbinger being the hive mind itself would have made more sense that that stupid kid.

I apologize for my absence. I am extremely ill with a kidney stone and another issue destroying my energy levels.
Both sicknesses will be resolved within the next two days. Until then, keep up the good work.
