If they had made ME3 the kind of game they promised, yeah, I would have been excited about more ME games, even if it was not about Shepard. But they ruined that with the ending. And it seems that the DLC will just "clarify" their "artistic vision", so I don't think that the DLC will change anything in that regard.
So no, I'll definitely not pre-order any game again. I'll wait to see actual gamers' reviews and even if they are positive I'll still be hesitant because I don't want to get attached to another universe and another group of characters just so that BW can break my heart again.

Well if that would be the case, then EA should know that I haven't bought a COD game since World at War (I got MW2 preowned so technically that doesn't count). Meaning that as soon as the milking starts, that is when I take my leave of a franchise. Games that have good story, and a solid singleplayer experience are what attract me, not crappy multiplayer games where the only good thing about them is spending hours doing the same thing over and over again whilst listening to screaming children and gangster wannabes.tsd16 wrote...

They're two completely different games. Mass Effect focuses more on player choices and story while Halo focuses more on multiplayer and gameplay balance for said multiplayer.LegatoSkyheart wrote...
NOPE.
It's all just a blatant "Oh look we have our own 'Halo' Now!" game.
Seriously that's my "conspriacy theory" on this. They only made a "cliffhanger ending" (lol what cliffhanger? everyone died!) just so they can compete with 343's Halo 4.
I think that was the point he was stabbing at. That EA wants to turn the franchise into just another shooter They can release yearly.

It happened to KotOR and it will happen to Mass effect. Don't be surprised if MP surfaces in the Dragon Age series.

I am not interested in a new ME game when the ME universe I loved is destroyed and the characters I cared about are either dead or soon will be. I don't trust BW that they won't ruin another game or game series again. I am not interested in a prequel either, because why bother? Everything is going to be destroyed anyway. Not to mention the direction they are going.

Look we all love us some Mass Effect.
We wouldn't be here on a Bioware forum complaining if we didn't.
I'm seeing tons of people saying, "That's it!", "Never again Bioware!", "Vote with your money not your mouth" etc. etc.
The thing is.... I predict by the time the next Mass Effect game is out a good portion of this anger will have faded. It will never go away, but it will fade, and that is a fact.
I know people still talk about how crappy Dragon Age 2 was. ( I hated it BTW) but the venom has faded to some degree. But people are still going to buy DA3 because we're hoping for good escapism. Bioware provides that.
When ever the next ME game comes out, it will be a topseller, and score rave reviews all over again.
People won't forget about this ending dillema, it's now perminantly etched on the history of gaming....but this franchise is still way too lucrative and too amazing for us fans to let go.
See here... If you think that after 2 failures of games people will * /take my money * for a game company that cant put out a good story line anymore when the games are story driven.... Then i must say you must be a FPS gamer... How many people who YOU know what dont like FF13 went to go buy ff13-2? I sure know 10 people who didnt...
Its a chain of events.... you fail once... u get another chance.... you fail twice... and tell people they are to stupied to understand the story ... i think they killed your chances.. The GoW horde mode multiplayer does not out weigh the
story they failed to put out

Maybe. Not me though. No more preorders. No more blind purchase of Day 1 DLC, assuming I get the game. No more presumption of Bioware quality without reservation.

This more or less sums up how I feel at this point. I simply have no further interest in the ME universe. I care nothing for what new civilizations -might- arise following the destruction of the relays, nor am I particularly interested in helping Aria find a new place to die. I went through this series to preserve the galaxy as it is, and that was denied me. I can live without Shepard and his crew, but I have no interest in learning about the new, ultra violent, Asari Dominion that will conquer the Galaxy 30,000 years hence either. It just doesn't do anything for me.
There is a chance, a very slim chance, that the ending DLC they're working on could change my mind, but they'd have to undo some things that they appear to be quite married to in the process. I'm not going to prejudge but I'll just take a look at the new product when it's released. If by some miracle it does rectify things, I'm fine with continuing with the franchise. If not, I'm also fine with walking away. Like I said, this isn't some kind of principled "boycott" of a product I really like. Unless things change, there will be no inducement for me to buy in the first place. It's all really quite simple.
You should also be aware that even for those who will continue to support the ME Franchise, there's a good bet not nearly as many will preorder or put any stock in what Bioware says in the future. Yeah they may come back regardless, but given the credibility gap that exists today, I would not expect the same level of excitement or trust going forward. That's going to be a problem for the powers that be in of itself. Very sad stuff if you ask me.
