You mat be right that fans making promises of never buying another Bioware game may be going a bit over the top OP.
Where they will really loose out is going to be on preorders and collectors editions. A Lot fewer of those is going to be sold after this I think. People will wait until the next game is out and see if it is any good. Then they will wait some more until the retail price falls a bit.
Not to mention that a lot fewer people are going to buy ME 3 DLC. I'm not going to buy any ME 3 DLC unless the ending is fixed because I just don't feel like replaying it that much with the current crapsack ending. Which is a shame since the rest of the game is really good.

Look we all love us some Mass Effect.
We wouldn't be here on a Bioware forum complaining if we didn't.
I'm seeing tons of people saying, "That's it!", "Never again Bioware!", "Vote with your money not your mouth" etc. etc.
The thing is.... I predict by the time the next Mass Effect game is out a good portion of this anger will have faded. It will never go away, but it will fade, and that is a fact.
I know people still talk about how crappy Dragon Age 2 was. ( I hated it BTW) but the venom has faded to some degree. But people are still going to buy DA3 because we're hoping for good escapism. Bioware provides that.
When ever the next ME game comes out, it will be a topseller, and score rave reviews all over again.
People won't forget about this ending dillema, it's now perminantly etched on the history of gaming....but this franchise is still way too lucrative and too amazing for us fans to let go.

^This.
I honestly don't see myself buying another product in the ME franchise. I've got limited money and even more importantly very limited time to spend on games. So if I'm going to invest either in a serries, I need to know ahead of time that it's pretty damn awesome.
Maybe if ME4 wows the core fans and generates the kind of satisfaction and fan reviews that ME1 and 2 did, I'd consider buying it. But I certainly won't make the mistake of pre-ordering again. And I certainly don't trust any of the professional game review sites after this.
