Ive been replaying the game and have come across something that seems like it might be evidence against the IT. While on the Citadel, I went to the wall with pictures of those missing. There is a picture of the small boy which says "last seen on Earth." If the IT was true and the boy was just a hallucination, no one would be looking for him. Not sure if this has been talked about, I just wanted to share my findings

Even that can be pushed aside as a hallucination. Nobody else actually makes note of it. I mean it's a nice observation, but when people see bushes and consider it proof, it's time to give up.

I came in here expecting the Incompetence Theory but I fear it isn't a Theory.

In my second playthrough, when you recruit Garrus and talk to him on the Normandy Shepard will mention the child. He says he failed and watched the child die.
The child did exist, but for the fact his death haunts Shepard makes him a prime icon to break Shepard's will for indoctrination.
