While playing Krogan Battlemaster, i noticed (once) incorrect trigger (turning on) of the Rage: specced to turn on after 3 melee kills, it triggered on during beginning of the round after i killed 2 enemies in melee, and attempted to kill 3rd (heavy melee animation started), but the enemy was killed by someone else before i could (which was shown in in-game message, as well as made obvious by absense of "hit" sound which plays whenever any foe is actually hit by Korgan's heavy melee). Yet, right after heavy melee animation ended, Rage turned on (at least, its visual effects, that is).
This may or may not have anything to do with known issue of Rage's melee bonuses not working.
Edit. I confirm that krogan battlemaster is unable to hit/damage by heavy melee enemies who are in stasis. Tried that some dozen times on different maps and enemies, never works. However, two posts above, someone said that using krogan's heavy melee always causes desync. In my case, was never happened while i played krogan battlemaster to 20 twice (so it's a few dozens of games), and in all of them i was using heavy melee for most kills, meleeing everything except banshees. I've seen someone somewhere mentioning that krogan battlemaster fares much better than other krogan classes with stunlocks; perhaps in this case (desyncs) krogan battlemaster is also different from other krogan classes.
