I've played the game now up to the first battle after the 'ignite the tower signal' quest. Until now it does not feel like a rpg at all, Its more like a very linear rts, moving from cutscene to cutscene, unable to get back or do any exploration outside the generated questmaps. My inventory is full, but I did not find any shop to sell my stuff and buy some goodies.

-How long is this going to continue?
-When will I be able to sell my goodies and buy some stuff?
-Most importantly: when does adventuring and exploration of a huge gameworld start?

This game IS advertised as non linear, so I may expect a huge map with hundreds of small quests, outside the plot, don't I??

After Lothering.

Ignite tower, go there, then go where you want.

After Lothering. You can go anywhere then.

Try not to judge a ~55 hour RPG on the first 2 hours.

Answer: soon.

Thanks so far and so quickly! It's just kinda confusing. Lothering? Strange word lol!

It's a fantasy world. Be prepared to be bombarded with weird names for the remainder of the game. ;)

Supposedly Lothering is supposed to be an alteration of Lord Of THE RING.

It's a place name, it doesn't need to make sense.

Just so we're sure, the world is broken into sections like you've been going through that you can choose to travel between. There's no real open world like Oblivion.

Oh, I don't expect an open world like in Oblivion or Two Worlds. As long as I'm free to explore, hunt 'n shop, its ok to me :)

How do people fill their inventory between the end of the Korcari wilds and Lothering? I've never had that problem, and I pick up everything. I just stick to a simple rule: After a merchant, I must have half my inventory empty. If I have 100 slots, I make sure that 49 are free when leaving a merchant or preparing for a mission. Between the last time you have a chance to sell stuff in Ostagar and the time you arrive in Lothering, there shouldn't be any way for you to fill your inventory. D:

It's easy to miss that last chance to sell in Ostagar. At the joining you'll get all of Jory and Daveth's stuff dumped into your inventory and if you just follow Duncan to the war council, which is right in front of you, the merchant will be gone afterwards. You need to run down the ramp and sell before joining Duncan at the war council.

Also depends how much of a packrat you are for salves, runes, poisons, grenades, and crafting junk. I'm terrible about keeping consumables like that in inventory and never using them. I'm "saving" them for when I really "need" them.

When I get back from the wilds I immediatly take off all the stuff of everybody in the party save me and allistair. I finish all the quests in town then I sell all the stuff to the merchant then I just start the battle right after the joining. And remember you can buy a backpack from the merchant before you go to the wilds and after you come back giving you twenty more items to hold.

Some may find that having Jory and Daveth in their smallclothes robs the joining of a certain... dignity. :)
