this topic hurts my head, the BW and the valiant are the most powerful weapons in the game, but unlike automatic weapons it actually takes skill/aim to use them.

That thing at level 1 has the power of the mantis x and shoots 3 shots. Its definitely worth it unless you are comparing it to a widow.

OK ok so follow me the widow can do idc 800000000000000000000000000000, but at the end of the day it will only kill the shields...you still have the armor.

The BW can take down the shields and still have shots to get rid of armor, making it better vs ...idk everything, and every race.

SO shield gate hates you, and your 1 shot weapons. BW one shots shields and then armor.

SO, so, so, so, so follow me if you, yourself are shooting at some pyro with the widow, bam shields go, reload bam armor.

BW vs pyro bam shields, armor, idk what ever is after that DEAD. 1 clip.

Something called energy drain on the Salarian Infirtraitor. BW's Reload and Firerate are bad.

Pretty shure you can with TC speced for damage and HCB.
But if you dont wanna do that, TC ED, 3 shots your set. faster than the widow.

There's no need to watch everything, just the first three minutes and the final score, which appears a bit after 27:30 minutes.

Keep in mind thats a player on PC with hax PC aim w/o dumb console auto aim.


Edit: Seriously, console auto aim just makes me look in the wrong direction 90% of the time, plus i hate auto aim in the first place, counter productive for sniping in most games. How can I be crazy sniper shooting dudes through buildings when the game decides i should look at that guy 45 degrees left of my target?!?!

@Chriss, I've seen that vid and is partially why I was so disappointed. Like I've stated numerous times, it's taking me two shots to kill a husk on bronze.

If someone can help me with getting encoder 4 to work, or at least instruct me as to the best way to screen cap (with free software) while using PC Origin to play, I will show you all.

goddamit, i have farmed gold everyday since mass effect 3 came out and i still dont have a BW, even a lvl 1 !!
And people regularly have at LVL X. I hate the fking randomness of those packs

Oh, this hurts my soul.
Seriously though, the Black Widow is, in my humble opinion, the best sniper rifle in the game, possible the best gun in the game barring the fact that N7's are insanely difficult to upgrade. On my infiltrator, I use headshot damage bonus, I have 15% general weapon damage bonus, then the 90% general + 40% sniper rifle damage bonus while cloaked. You can usually fire off two shots with the black widow with the cloak damage bonus. I absolutely do not understand how you are not killing husks with one shot, I kill them with one shot to the chest in Gold all the time, I also can kill a Geth Prime (provided i land my shots correctly) with two clips fired quickly. If you use it correctly, and yes, there IS a "correct" way to use it, then you have an efficient killing machine that can easily dispatch standard troops without much consideration (this is it's advantage over Javelin/Widow's) but still packs the power necessary to deal with the big guys.
Now, the more you use it, the more you learn the way the weapon works, it has a different recoil pattern than most rifles as it has three shots but massive recoil, this can be easily offset by zooming in, taking your (head)shot, zooming back out if it's a normal trooper that you've dispatched, or zooming out and quickly back in and taking your next shot on your target.

It's important to note that In order to maximize the effectiveness and really unlock the power of the BW you really have to train yourself to ALWAYS go for the head shot. The more you use it, the better it gets.
I honestly cannot remember the last game in which i've fallen below the top score of any team i've been playing with where I was using my infiltrator/BW combo.
You seem like a pretty reasonable fella, I certainly hope you will hear me out and give this gun another try, I think after you use it for some time, you will find that it has few equivalents that can simultaneosly match it's stopping power and firing rate. If you still find you don't like it, well hey, it's not for everyone. =D

The thing is worthless if you're trying to body shot. If that's the case put it down and pick up the Widow/Javelin and go out your day.

Its been proven over and over that the BW with its three clips will actually take things down faster then the Widow/Javelin BUT if you can't make the shots count (and I don't blame you as getting all three shots on the console with the thing is ****ing ugly with its recoil; same for the PC but the mouse does help a lot...but your screen can shake from kingdom come if you have a biotic user doing what they're supposed to be doing) then its a awash.

Body Shots = headshots is Widow/Javelin
Headshots > Bodyshots Black Widow

Counter Point: The N7 Valiant is the better gun but you're rigt that it will take a person almost forever to upgrade that weapon with the MP store system.

The built-in penetration distance is shorter than that of the Widow, so if you're used to that it's going to feel a bit weak.  As far as I know (i.e., according to that weapon values spreadsheet), the BW penetrates 0.25m, the Widow 0.5m, and the Javelin 1.0m.  AP ammo and mods stack additively, but they break the full damage penetration these weapons have and apply their own, weaker modifiers.

I saved up for the BW and got it as early as I conceivably could in the single-player.  It's really, really good.  Granted, I've got a Widow X and have yet to even get my first BW in multiplayer, so given that huge upgrade disparity I'm not sure I'd want to use it much even if I do get it.

FRAPS huh? I'll look it up, thanks. It's only a trial though? Howo long does this trial period last? Is there no way to get encoder to work, it's free and it doesn't expire.
