i played through this game once in a fairly thorough 95 hours as a warrior nobleman. and i was left without a feeling of resolution. while a lot of the gameplay was outstanding (and wonderfully addictive!), there seemed to be no real character development in a dramatic sense. dont get me wrong, i understand the storyline(s) in these games can be so extensive and staggeringly complex that it requires several teams to dev plotlines. nevertheless, i looked back at even the most important characters and felt that they were exactly the same from the first encounter to the final battle. for instance look at the relationship between morrigan and alistair. even after she saves the life of the greywarden, hes still 'talkin smack' about her in the last scene. and i understand the whole star-crossed concept between her and my main character, but why does she never open up? all i saw was her getting a little choked up in the end... i feel the mysterious, sexy loner was supposed to open up and show that shes not just an immoral narcisist. you know, show her vulnerabilities, help another selflessly, etc... anyways, i dont think ill play through this game again. i dont really want to admit this, but its basically because there was no real 'happy ending'. again this is embarassing, but i did want aeden to develop a relationship with leliana and/or morrigan. but their fates turned out to be quite predictable. morrigan disappearing and lelianna going back to the chantry. i guess thats pretty much the most relatable ending for these ppl, eveyone basically just going their own way (just like high school).
would anyone else agree with me?
p.s. i couldnt believe i spent 95 hours on this game. i made sure not to follow the amount of time i spent on this, and when i finally beat it i thought it was too short! i would have said 50 hours max! when i checked it, my jaw dropped!! a great game thx guys

Everything about how the game ends is based on your choices. You can have a relationship with Leliana or Morrigan, and both open up if you take the time to talk to them. At the end of my second playthrough, both Leliana and Zevran stayed with me to help me rebuild the Grey Wardens. If you want a happy ending, there are multiple ways to get one.
It's all really up to you.

Your party member will have different endings depends on your actions.
Morrigan opens up? Sort of, she will share more of her feeling to you in some circumstances. (I won't spoil it now, but if you don't mind I could tell you more)
But if you want her as your soulmate? Nope, that's not something she will do, it would be out of character for her. Overall she is a strong, independent, practical person.
What you looking for in Morrigan just isn't really there. That would be Leliana.

***On this quote part above... I also have to take my hat off to the people that made this game.. Sure it has its ups & downs, but never - I say never have I been so drawn into a game like this one! It just grabs ya & holds you till the end <3
Kudos peoples! I sincerely hope that we get many exciting expansions on this game also. I don't know how this could be done, the way the ending is, but there has got to be a way to do expansions and still keep us enthralled by this great game!
My opinion anyway..

Yes, while Morrigan admitting to her feelings comes off as touching, in the end it doesn't change anything. She is who she is.

Both my playthroughs have been about 50 hours and I am a few hours into my third. Like others, I have also never been sucked into a rpg quite like this before.
