Blue: You place your trust in the Deus ex Machina that you will not only be able to control the Reapers, but to do so for any meaningful length of time.
Green: You merge organics and synthetics, removing the Reaper's reason for being there. What happens if a new, unaltered race evolves, and the Reapers return, destroying all who stand in their way? What happens if the current races make a new race of synthetics, and the Reapers decide to fix their mistake by killing everyone?
Destroy: Geth die. EDI may not in fact die, as some players who brought her along for the Earth assault have reported seeing her emerge from the Normandy at the end. Though this may be a glitch.
Conclusion: There is no Paragon option. There is no good option.

There's no Renegade option either. Anyone boiling those choices down to a certain morality is way off.

Control - Shep takes control of the Reapers and closes the citadel, letting no other race go there. All the alien species are stranded on the human homeworld. The Shep Reapers destroy the military of all other aliens before eventually regaining complete control of themselves and coming back to wipe humans last. Muahahaha "We can control the Reapers..." -Illusive Man Also... "I... I tried, Shepard." -Illusive Man

Synthesis - "Organic and machine, intertwine... The strengths of both, the weakness of neither!" - Saren Also... "Goodbye Shepard... Thank you." - Saren

Destroy - Reapers blow up and you, EDI, and Geth should be dead. You "wake up" and EDI was also fine. Geth are probably fine too. "You can destroy all synthetic life if you want to. Including the Geth. Even you are partially synthetic." - Starchild
Also... "Bull****! We destroy them, or they destroy us!" -Anderson

Take your pick.

I can't understand why people think of the colours as paragon or renegade in the ending. The colour has nothing to do with it.

It did for the last 3 games up to that point... Posted Image

Destroy the bastards. The Reapers are evil and so is the little kid.

Everything being at face value.... the Paragon ending IS the blue ending... Shepard doesn't sacrifice anyone to achieve peace but himself. He doesn't add or take away anything from any organic life in the galaxy... and he becomes the virtual silent guardian of the universe...

Destroy is definitely the Renegade ending. Shepard's goal is to kill the Reapers... if it costs the galaxy the Geth, so be it. "I will do whatever it takes to rid the galaxy of the Reaper threat."

The Renegade does not compromise, he only sacrifices.  There is no middle ground.

Yup.

A lot of paragons chose red instead though because of their prejudice against TIM. They couldn't accept that TIM would be right about anything, and instead decided that Control wouldn't work, but shooting the Crucible in Destroy would, for some reason.

Blue is for paragon.

You sacrifice yourself but everybody else lives. TIM was right but he was indoctrinated.

Red is for renegade who doesn't care about synthetics.

Green is weird.

Blue is definitely the best option. The Citadel does not blow up, which means you save anyone who was still on board and fighting a resistance battle against the reaper forces. You control the reapers and have access to their technology to rebuild the Relays so the allied military can get home. The Geth and EDI survive. You do not violate trillions of religious and civil rights by turning them into cyborgs. The reapers survive which means harvested cultures from the past survive.

It's really win/win and Shepard gets to live on in digital form.

I guess Control. In a way it is like a lot of paragon choices in the series - making a type of compromise even at the risk of it biting you and everyone else in the ass later. Honestly, who knows how long Shep could "control" the reapers...

I couldn't pick it though - even though I play pure paragon. I went with destroy and gritted my teeth over so casually throwing EDI and the Geth by the wayside.

Well, genocide it is than. My Shep didn't come all this way to die. Destroy the reapers, that was the plan since the first game.

That's not very Paragon.

Every option is Genocide...

Red - Relays kill everyone, stranded aliens in Sol kill eachother for resources if they can explain why the relay did not kill them, shepherd lives to die in race war assuming they explain why Earth survive the explosion of the Charon Relay.
Blue - Control Reapers, everyone dies from relay explosion
Green - You force everyone to be same race (what nices guys do) then they die in Relay Explosion

Since when did the relay explosion kill everyone?

If Shep thinks all the choices are bad, he can just refuse to make any choice and let the cycle continue.

Which proved precisely nothing about what happens in the ending of ME3. These are explosions with different purposes, different causes, different energies being released, and different results.

Of course, this is thing 1 for Bio to clear up in the DLC.

Orrrrr he could put all his chips in the largest military force in the history of the galaxy winning a battle against an enemy that's never once had to face this sort of threat. The Reapers win every cycle because they cut worlds off from one another and focus their entire strength on individual planets. This is the whole strength of the galaxy versus the whole strength of the Reapers. It isn't clear-cut who's going to win.

Most Shepards, I think, would rather do that than accept what's given and roll with it. The Council explained why Saren wasn't bad, and Shepard went against it. Then they explained why going to Ilos couldn't happen, and Shep went to Ilos. But suddenly this random AI thing pops in out of nowhere and says "these are your only choices" and Shepard just goes along with it?

C'mon.

Destroy. My paragon, while he was a wonderful and kind broski... wouldn't control the Reapers. Is there any guarantee that Shepard won't become a hive mind with the Reapers? None.

Green is turning everyone into synthetic hybrid organic things. Some new DNA. But the Reapers still exist. No thanks.

And last, Destroy. Upon which you annihilate the Reapers once and for all. I chose that one for my paragon Shepard.

Why? Because even after the destruction of the Mass Relays, with blue/green the Reapers still exist. They will continue their cycle somehow and in the future, even if it is 100,000s of years later, the Reapers exist. Not having any of that. All the Reapers will die. It's a terrible choice because it means the Geth will die too.

So yeah... it's either Red. Or if I'm feeling something else than Green. Never Blue.

Lmao, we're all discussing the colours. Haha.

Destroy. My Shepard didn't go through all that **** just to allow the Reapers to survive. I feel for the Geth, and EDI, but the Reapers cannot continue to exist. After millions of years of commiting genocide, I think their time is done.
