What do you expect? The lead writer and the lead designer are not showing up.

Afraid to face the angry fans that resulted from their bad jobs...?

Oh well, "wait and see" I guess...

I can't say that they're afraid or not, but it is very strange that neither are showing up.  If you look at the Dragon Age panel, they're bringing the big dogs down to Boston.

This is a complete and unmitigated disaster for them going in to PAX. I feel extremely bad for the members of Bioware who are going to stand up on a stage in front of what is basically a human version of YouTube comments.

Really, truly bad. But they made that bed with this decision, so whatever.

I work for an event management company, and one of the things we sometimes have to look after (although not so much in my department, I have to admit) is conferences and panels such as this one will be. When a hostile audience is expected, it is very common for the interviewees (in this case Bioware) to "plant" question-askers in the audience with pre-arranged questions. The host is told which people to ask and what order to ask them in, and it still gives every impression of a normal Q&A without touching upon questions that Bioware aren't comfortable with.

They won't completely blank the endings, because that would cause outrage. They'll have at least one pre-arranged question that seems as if it's almost asked about the endings, so they can almost answer, and hope that calms everyone down.

This doesn't surprise me in the least.

Why do so many people with TIM as their avatar sound...like TIM.

I can just see TIM sat with his cigarette saying this with the exact same inflexion.

They kept silent about a lot of sh*t before the game was released. And we all saw how well that worked out for them.

It would be in their best interests to give the fans a few details concerning the direction they take in their "clarification" efforts.

Was looking forwards to Pax answering the questions weve been debating for weeks now.
I guess bioware figures if they tell all, nobody will be around when the dlc comes out?

I've been pretty lenient with Bioware so far, I think.

But even I, who is not a PR expert, know that refusing to talk after a major announcement is CRAZY.

I work in Sales. I deal with Customer Complaints every day. Yes, the company I work for tells me "how far" I can go when it comes to dealing with complaints. But I at least TRY to come across as genuine, un-scripted and natural.

There is the word.

NATURAL.

This PR release, even the mini FAQ , sounds forced, cold and lacks the warmth I remember from earlier Bioware announcements about DLC, esp. FREE ones. (I still APPRECIATE and WELCOME the DLC however!)

Even I know that artistic integrity is all fine and good. THINK IT, if you must, don't say it when you KNOW it'll upset people. It's as easy as that. Learn from Cicero and HIS polemics, THAT is how it's done if you MUST go down that path.

Why NOT discuss it?

Everyone knows the endings by now. There is no spoiling danger.

Ms. Merizan mentioned that they cannot discuss stuff to make sure they don't promise stuff they cannot deliver.

All well and good. But: Call me crazy, but I think the devs KNOW what they can or cannot do by now.

I do not mind the endings. I am OVERJOYED at the DLC.

But this PR move is so utterly ill conceived, it makes my mind boggle. Bioware, PLEASE, if you ARE listening, RECONSIDER. Don't hide behind PR. TALK to us at PAX. COMMUNICATION is the ABC of good PR and Customer Relations. All your good intentions, which I do not doubt at all, will go to waste if you ignore this issue. So please, if you CARE, if you are LISTENING and if you want the storm to even out, TALK. COMMUNICATE. STOP STONEWALLING!

A couple of years from now - these same gaming sites "praising" BioWare for "artistic integrity" will be using the name BioWare as a punch line for how NOT to stay in business.

Hold the line/wallet!

Then everyone from BSN that goes to that panel, on the exact moment they ask for question everyone should stand up and ask about the endings, and not sitting down until they answer you or the kick you out.

Peace Protest!

This is truth my sister has a background of event management, they will have something like this planed to dampen down the anger.
I doubt this will also get a live stream on bioware pulse. Those days like E3 last year are over for the time being.

Jessica Merzan has already tweeted today that the endings will include a possibility of Shep reuniting with the crew, and the possibility of rebuilding the mass relays, depending on the ending. So, either she's fanwanking based on what's already there--"if there are dead reapers you have plenty of reaper tech, and Shep can live if you have enough war assets!"--or giving some pretty significant details on what we can expect to see when this is released.

If this stuff is true, then they should talk about it.  It would soothe a lot of fan rage.

Bioware should definately be heeding the words of King Solomon.
