Okay, I was willing to be cool about this until we got more details at PAX.  I even wrote a whole thread about it earlier today.

But, according to Jessica Merizan's twitter account, they arent even planning to talk about the DLC at all at tomorrow's PAX panel.

That's...that's really sad.

UPDATE: incase you were thinking it may have been a mistake -

User 1: are we going to have more information on the dlc at PAX? or we already have all the information we can have at this point?

JM: yup, no additional info at PAX.

How can they be so freaking stupid?  Seriously, their fans are already flocking away in droves, they get an opportunity to give more information about it that might be able to draw them back, and they are not going to say anything?  How can they view that as good business?

What would you have them talk about? They've made the announcement. Should they re-announce it? Provide exact details of the content?

No one is asking exact details, but it only seems like it would be intelligent to offer some kind of information about just what it is that they are planning to do if they want to stop this bleeding out affect of their fans.

Not to mention that with said announcement all they've done is re-ignited the fire that was slowly burning away. If they think that this is going to boost sales and increase positive interest until the summer time...perhaps they need a new PR department becuase this is insane.

Well, I guess that means I have to contact EA for that refund now...

I was willing to wait until PAX, but since they're not interested in 'listening', I refuse to stand for this significant drop in product quality.

They could at least tell us what exactly they're fixing. Their online announcement was very vague- all it said was that they're adding cutscenes. Throw us a REAL bone.

sorry... *looks baffled*... im sorry but ehm... ehm... what.... what are they going to talk about then? seriously, what would they talk about? discuss the fun times we all had in me3?, talk about MP content? anything they would say would be a slap in the face to any fan if it doesnt involve the endings.

Why?  It's never, EVER been their policy to spoil stuff like that.

Bioware must have skimped on the PR department. They seem to be doing everything possible to alienate people who *want* to be on Bioware's side.

At this point it looks like pitchforks and torches time.

Seriously, This!

I'm pretty sure EVERYONE here would love to be on Bioware's side. Thing is, we're fans, we love talking about the series, we love the details, we love the plot. Then there's the ending, which is bad enough to cause this response.

What's amazing to me, is that everyone staying tight lipped. Seriously, this isn't a public filing, with data that will be used for trading stocks, this is the plot of a game for crying out loud. The fact that they can't just talk about what they meant with the ending with fans is in-freaking-sane. We would love nothing more than to chat about the ideas and "art" in the "ending". We don't like this being put in our face, and being told, "it's art". If I wanted art, I would have gone to a museum. I wanted more of what I got out of Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2.

Let me say that again because I think it's important: I wanted more of what I got out of Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect 3 was about to deliver that, but the ending was so jarring and out of place, that I take zero enjoyment in playing ME1 or 2 again.

I'm an adult. I have a job, and errands. I don't have time to play EVERY game that comes out. So I'll just play something else. I love RPGs, but when Dragon Age 3 comes out, I probably won't rush out and buy it after the way this is being handled. After all, the games are supposed to be for the fans, not the reviewers. The metacritic score is telling, in that the fans feel differently than the "professionals"

I would love nothing more than to be happy with Mass Effect 3 and Bioware's products. I cannot be with the ending to ME3, as the standard set, going back to KOTOR, BG, Jade Empire, etc has been top notch. I cannot accept the implications of what is being said here. Either there has been an indoctrination attempt, and everything after Harbinger's beam was a dream/hallucination, or the ending is total and under plot hole filled crap. What really got me today is with the FAQ on the DLC, they're saying that there is no added gameplay, meaning that both of the options I laid out suck. Either the plot holes get to be explained away, (I have my doubts, as they're huge plot holes), or I don't get to play the best part of the game.

Luke Skywalker got Vader in the end. Luke got the emperor in the end. He confronted both. Shepard confronted Soverign on Vermire. That's good storytelling. We never confronted Harbinger.

Why does this much get written about this? Because we love Mass Effect. Sadly, with this reaction, it's time to move on. Not discussing with your fans to protect integrity? After the "final" game in the series is out? Right. Treat us with respect. We want interaction, not PR.

Any Attending Gamer can use this Panel to help imply to the Developers and other guys in the panel how thin the ice their on at the moment.

All they need to do is not clap when the panel starts.  Keep asking questions about why the ending inserts a character that had nothing to do with the other 2 games and your giving 3 options that are obviously traps intended by the reapers to control the outcome of the last cycle.

Basically all three ending means betraying people and if you played SHepered as someone who would never betray anyone you don't have the option of putting your faith in your allies and not the Reaper or a being using an image of someone the Commander feel guilt over.

I do wonder if the entire crowd start's booing would that give a bigger reactoin.  Bioware needs to save face and talk to the gamers about the problem now.  Instead of say their listening to the post's on the forum.  If they ask the question face to face with their panel they may get something done or at least make us less angry at them.

So far their just making us even more angry at them.

This maybe the fist time the Gamers are actually organizing together because they dislike a story and forming a boycott because of this.

You know there are going to be trolls, pro-enders (ie the vocal minority), and possibly plants getting up and saying, "I'm a Mass Effect fan and I just wanted you to know that I loved the ending.  Don't change a thing."

*Cue thunderous applause from reporters*

Sadly I can see that as a possibility.

I thought it was pretty obvious this is why they made this announcement today, so tomorrow they can reply to any questions and comments about the ending: "Bioware and EA released a statement yesterday, no further comments on the ending."

Bioware's complete ineptitude in handling this mess has been truly shocking.

I keep thinking they've screwed up as much as they can, but then they just find a way to make it worse.

I hope that fans at PAX make at least one awkward moment.

On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if they don't let people that aren't on the media to talk or even enter. That would be even worst but...meh.

Bioware, I have the feeling that tomorrow is going to be a day you will always remember as the day that you almost saved Mass Effect series.

The behavior of this company has become completely unmoored from any kind of logic I can recognize.

This isn't a PR "victory" at all, unless you define "victory" as alienating an ever-broadening chunk of your fanbase, drawing criticism from the both the gaming and business media, getting voted the worst company in America, and throwing your customer loyalty overboard by the bushel.

If that's the case, then I wish EA many more such victories in the future.
