Bioware must have skimped on the PR department. They seem to be doing everything possible to alienate people who *want* to be on Bioware's side.

At this point it looks like pitchforks and torches time.

Seriously, This!

I'm pretty sure EVERYONE here would love to be on Bioware's side. Thing is, we're fans, we love talking about the series, we love the details, we love the plot. Then there's the ending, which is bad enough to cause this response.

What's amazing to me, is that everyone staying tight lipped. Seriously, this isn't a public filing, with data that will be used for trading stocks, this is the plot of a game for crying out loud. The fact that they can't just talk about what they meant with the ending with fans is in-freaking-sane. We would love nothing more than to chat about the ideas and "art" in the "ending". We don't like this being put in our face, and being told, "it's art". If I wanted art, I would have gone to a museum. I wanted more of what I got out of Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2.

Let me say that again because I think it's important: I wanted more of what I got out of Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect 3 was about to deliver that, but the ending was so jarring and out of place, that I take zero enjoyment in playing ME1 or 2 again.

I'm an adult. I have a job, and errands. I don't have time to play EVERY game that comes out. So I'll just play something else. I love RPGs, but when Dragon Age 3 comes out, I probably won't rush out and buy it after the way this is being handled. After all, the games are supposed to be for the fans, not the reviewers. The metacritic score is telling, in that the fans feel differently than the "professionals"

I would love nothing more than to be happy with Mass Effect 3 and Bioware's products. I cannot be with the ending to ME3, as the standard set, going back to KOTOR, BG, Jade Empire, etc has been top notch. I cannot accept the implications of what is being said here. Either there has been an indoctrination attempt, and everything after Harbinger's beam was a dream/hallucination, or the ending is total and under plot hole filled crap. What really got me today is with the FAQ on the DLC, they're saying that there is no added gameplay, meaning that both of the options I laid out suck. Either the plot holes get to be explained away, (I have my doubts, as they're huge plot holes), or I don't get to play the best part of the game.

Luke Skywalker got Vader in the end. Luke got the emperor in the end. He confronted both. Shepard confronted Soverign on Vermire. That's good storytelling. We never confronted Harbinger.

Why does this much get written about this? Because we love Mass Effect. Sadly, with this reaction, it's time to move on. Not discussing with your fans to protect integrity? After the "final" game in the series is out? Right. Treat us with respect. We want interaction, not PR.

With you on this :)

If they didn`t butcher the story line as they did, i`d have pre-orderd every signle ME release to come

If they said after a week "sorry guys, we screwed up(in short) and we hope to have an ending that takes your choices you made over the past 2.95 games into account and a propper cinematic as you are used of us, but it will take us 2 months to develope and might cost $9.95 for extended development costs. We are sorry!" <- Sign me up! and i`ll fogive

So....

PAX will them discussing the movie and the anime?

Oh how far the mighty have fallen. If their DA and ME stuff is just this extra-curricular activities they engage in when they can't even appease the fans, they're fracked as a gaming company.

I really hope the fans make it apparent at PAX there is nothing to talk about other than this entire ME3 debacle... albeit in a civilized fashion.

-Bottom line the only way to keep this issue from coming up is to keep (former) fans out.

BioWare could really learn a thing or two from Stardock. When they screw up, they own up to it and fix it. No Corporate weaseling, no doubletalk, just "We made a mistake, let's fix it.". And by doing so, they have some extremely loyal fans. Right now, BioWare is ****ting all over their fanbase, and it's going to cost them.

Stardock also had to lay off most of their devs... I don't want people losing their jobs at BioWare when so much was done right in ME3

True, but BioWare is big enough and this is a relatively small enough problem that they could most definitely fix it without that happening. Stardock was going to be in for some major problems whether they owned up to their mistake or not. Owning up to it has meant that they have a definite future, whereas had they not they would have lost a lot of support.

Careful now. This runs close to the kind of ammo the devs need to continue labeling us as snot nosed punks.<_<

You tell your fans that after all of their "feedback," you still aren't going to give them what they're asking for.  Then you refuse to talk about it.

Sounds like more of a way to incite a riot, not avoid one.

I'm with you, in that I fully admit I'll buy almost anything. I "hate" DLC, but I shelled out $10 for "From Ashes" before I even played the game. I spent money on spectre packs because I wanted more guns faster. If they came out and said, here's the real ending for $20 (seriously), I'd pay up.

It just has to be worth my hard earned cash.

If the ending was a big "To be continued" in those letters, I would be BEGGING to throw more money at Bioware. If the secret ending (Shpeard Breath) had those words on it, I'd be calling Bioware geniuses. (Indoc theory, yeah yeah.)

Anything vaguely related to CASEY HUDSON, MAC WALTERS and BIOWARE must be ignored in the future.

It's a pretty small blacklist. I'm sure it won't be a problem to remember it forever!

I think the most frustrating part for those of us severely disappointed with ME3's ending is that we have almost no recourse. The only legitimate option is to not purchase any further BioWare products. That works in the long run, at least at a personal level, but since they are pimped out by EA now they will still have the resources and marketing to generate appeal to the masses.

Our beloved franchise is in ruins. And we can hold the line all we want, but BioWare has staked their position. Let them enjoy it. We will move on to other games from other companies. There is a gaping, starving void for a sprawling sci-fi RPG. We need that now. A savvy group of devs should jump on this opportunity.

Best solution may be to boycott PAX. If EA/Bioware walk into an empty room, that might show them that they are losing their future customers.

I was not happy when there was no Descent Freespace 3. There will always be another series. I just hope it's as well written as ME1, ME2, Jade Empire, and KOTOR.

Im getting the popcorn, somehow i believe they wont be able to stave off questions about the ending and their announcement. How could they? Would they actually just sit there with a smile pretending nothing is going on? May have worked in the 50's, but not anymore.
