****ing hell, really? Have they lost their ****ing minds or something?! You don't just announce something like that and then refuse to talk about it!

This is ****ing mind blowing.

Translation: "Please ignore the subject, and don't give us a hard time. We don't want to be grilled about it and sweat in front of the media. kthnxbai."

Sure, but don't forget that the pink elephant in the room hasn't gone anywhere.

So the panel is being canceled? I don't think you're going to get many other questions. Unless BioWare just seeds the audience with it's own people to ask pre-written questions. There's evidence to say they did it on these forums, and politicians regularly do it at press confrences. And then they'll spin it to look like we are capitulating.

You know what? I hope the FTC does get involved. It'll either teach developers to not make promises they have no intention of delivering or to at least shut the hell up. A good game can generate its own hype. With all the BS that BioWare was spitting to make the game look good, I can't help but think they knew from day one (development time, not the release date) that the game was going to leave a bad taste in the fan's mouth.

So apparently Bioware wants to "die". This is probably the stupidest f***ing move they could do next to telling their fan base to screw off.

actions speak louder than words... they've "told" us to f**k off more than  few times by now.

and anyone that thinks the success of mass effect isn't hugely influenced by its core fanbase is extremely misguided.  i learned about the game from a hardcore fan, and i've since gotten a good 10+ people hooked on it.

and... nobody would've bought the current game if they were honest about the abortion of ending currently included.

All I want is some honesty, no more hiding behind PR talk and "artistic integrity" just talk to us. Tell us how you came up with the ending, how you felt when the backlash about the ending first hit, etc. Just talk to us. I know their a buisness and need to take the proper steps for this situation, but damn im tired of bioware/EA sounding like a bunch if robots. Honesty!!

This is was really gets me.  Artists don't talk about their work like robots.

Smart businesses don't either.

We waited a month for them to get their stuff together for PAX.

Then they drop a bombshell on us the day before and then refuse to talk about it?

Seriously, what is wrong with bioware?

If this really happens, then I encourage the fans attending to just up and leave.
Just leave the room, bring your fellow gamers out with you and render the room empty.
The media shxx-storm that ensues will eat Bioware alive.

What the hell else are people going to talk about?

"We're going to talk an hour and a half about how there's a new Drell Soldier and 1 new multiplayer map."

Ok, I can understand not wanting to go into details about the "DLC" but sheesh... ignoring it all together?

Yeah, that's gonna end well.

can you honestly blame them?

look at the outcome after the dlc was announced today

no matter what they say fans are gona still be the same if not worse.

tbh and im not saying this to be funny but i wouldnt be suprised if the bioware panel was protected by security because some fans can indeed be a bit out of controll

They refuse to explain anything outside of saying it's art. How about trying to answer some of these questions? No? They're just going to stick their fingers in their ears. Ok how about answering why they made all these promises some post certification and didn't fulfill any of them? No, just going to pretend that didn't happen. Ok, so why should I continue giving you my money again?

As one of the people who is willing to wait and see on the extended cut, attempting to avoid talking about the endings at this panel seems like a terrible idea.Image IPB

Who was asking: "why they made the announcement right before PAX"?

I was in this thread
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/11047793/1

[I will reiterrate:]

Does anyone else question the timing of this press release? 1 day
before PAX. It appears a calculated move to diffuse a public relations
nightmare and nothing more.

[And below in same thead:]

If anyone at PAX actually gets information about the ending, I'll eat my...(intentionally vague) something.
The timing appears only to limit bad press from a PAX fallout.

(From a business point of view) At this point it's not really about what
the ending is, it's about getting through the next days without really
bad press (Press will be at PAX).

This is going to be the shortest panel ever.

"Can you say something about the endings!"

"We cannot say anything about the endings at this time."

"Can you say anything about the DLC!"

"We cannot talk about upcoming DLC at this time. ...Does anyone have any non-endings or DLC-related questions?"

*awkward silence*

*sympathetic cough from somewhere in the audience*

"...So, who was your favorite Mass Effect character?"

*room empties*

Yeah, earlier today I saw the first announcement and thought people were overreacting. "Hey, BioWare said they're going to work on improving the endings! People should be positive about that and wait to see what comes in the summer!" But as the day went on, that optimism started to wane, and this tweet pretty much killed it.

This announcement serves only one purpose: to give cover for shutting down any questions regarding the ending at this panel. It's one thing to have a bunch of people complaining across the internet, but nobody at EA or BioWare wants anyone to see an actual public event, with real people there expressing their displeasure, hitting the gaming news sites. They're getting bad press enough as it is, and a panel full of angry fans would be adding salt to the wounds.

So this pretty much gives them full license to answer any question regarding the endings with "Sorry you didn't like them; wait until the summer when we clarify them. Next!" They're not just going to be not answering questions regarding the free ending DLC; they will avoid answering ANY ending questions, period.

And I'm curious to see how that's going to go for them, but considering the chatter I see here and on other forums, I don't think many people are fooled.

If they can't defend the ending, they can't defend the ending. Seeing the attempts around here, I'm not surprised.
