Both companies made big announcements today! What did they say? Let's see:
BioWare: we won't change our ending, but we'll pretend we like you, so we'll make you some cutscenes so you could just shut up. They are free, but you gotta wait 'till the summer.
CD Projekt: The Witcher 2 was pretty short, so we made a giant DLC that adds 4 hours of gameplay and 33 minutes of cutsenes and is free for everyone who bought the game. Plus, people who bought the physical copy of the game can have a GoG.com backup copy for free. Plus, there is also an iPhone and iPad app that tells the events of first Witcher. Like Mass Effect 2: Genesis DLC, only it's free. Oh, and we give away free GOG.com copies of Fallout to anyone in next 48 hours.

So, which company is superior in your opinion?

I pre-ordered the 360 version of Witcher 2 yesterday. Seems to me developers like them should be supported.

Conversely, looks like its going to be summer before I can say whether I'll buy a Bioware game again..

I'm going to buy a second copy of The Witcher 2 just to support them.

I've been a CD Projekt fan since the first Witcher and the way they've responded to/treated fans. Definitely a great company; considering how good Witcher 2 was, and it was only their SECOND game built on their OWN engine, they are going to go very far.

They are also still a small developer, whose focus is on the "hardcore" RPG PC crowd, only just now branching off to consoles - even then, it is far more of a PC to 360 port, not the way things are usually done in designing to the lowest common denominator consoles offer and as a result losing the many better things you can do on a PC. I would argue having a "PC" mindset, which includes Bethesda in some respects (modding support, the creation kit, etc. though not necessarily gameplay) yields a company that has a healthier fan/creator relationship than those who just throw things out on consoles with a "there it is" mentality.

So long as they avoid getting consumed by some gaming uber-corp - and with their specific niche audience not being huge, and being over in Poland just doing their own thing, I think they are safe for a while at least - they remain one of my few bright spots in game development.

Call me when they start making games that don't force you to play as a bony, white haired ponce and I'll be all over them.

CD Projekt: Independent company that can negotiate it's own publishing contracts.

BioWare: Company owned entirely by Electronic Arts and must concede all monetary, marketing, distribution, and support decisions through EA.

There's a huge difference between the two development companies.

But I already bought Fallout 1 from GoG. They always give away the games I already bought.

CD Projekt is certainly a developer worth supporting. They support their games, customers, and give not a single **** about drm, that's a knockout combination.

Pointless, CDP's alot smaller. If they had the same resources they'd probably be ****ing immense. Could do without the sexual stuff in TW games too, even though I still love the games.

I also wouldn't call Geralt a ponce I mean he's hardly your stereotypical handsome xD.

Don't forget about Bethesda. It seems privately owned companies or companies that don't have the publisher breathing down their neck at every minute actually make great games and care about their fanbase.

Bioware can be among that group, they just have to be willing to.

Bought the regular edition of Witcher 2. The game guide, behind the scenes cds and OST came with it and the enhanced edition is coming out, adding loads of new content for free. Wish more developers were like CD Projekt. From Bioware's announcement it pretty much seems like they're just trying to get rid of us. I'm happy to oblige.

Information time! Witcher 2 was developed by CD Project RED. Not CD Project. They're related, but different companies.

As CD Project RED is owned by CD Project, they are not independent.

CD Projekt Red knows how to treat it's fans.

BioWare/EA does not.

CD Projekt Red hands down. Free DLC's, Free Updates, cheaper price game!

BioWare is not even close to CDP RED when it comes to PR and customer care/love.
