After I played through the first Witcher game, also an enhanced edition that was completly free for those who already owned it. I have been a big fan of these guys, If not for Skyrim last year, Witcher 2 would have clearly gotten my vote for GOTY, an absoloutly amazing game. Sure it had some flaws, nothing even remotly close to the horrid ending of ME3, but what do you know, CDPR listened to their fans and are fixing everything that I found to be lacking with their game.
And today I had 2 announcements of importance, 1 was Bioware giving us the fans a small token that might be pointless as it might not fix anything really. It is still better news than them ignoring us.... But then CDPR announces that I got a free digital backup version of my game.... right out of nowhere, like the free enhanced edition with over 4 hours of extra content, and an extended new ending is not enough. And people did not even complain nearly half as much as the fans for ME has including me.
After I heard about the EE for Witcher 2 I was thinking it was to good to be true in this industry, now I am actually thinking of buying myself the enhanced edition just to give more money to this developer, even when I already own the game...
It is like, shut up CDPR and take my money! oh.. wait.. what... all this content is for free for those who already own your product?... well take my money anyways!
Totally agree with you. THIS is a company that takes care of their customers.
I have Witcher 2 Premium Edition on retail version and now those guys gives me extra content plus a digital copy of the game for free.
Not only that, they release The Witcher 1 for MAC on STEAM, and if you already have the PC version on STEAM now you got the MAC version for free. And if you buy now you got the two version, PC&MAC for the same prize.

I really wish I could get into Witcher, but I just can't play RPGs where I have to play as a guy. Still, they sound like an awesome company, and if they ever make anything with a more open protagonist, I will totally throw money at them. EVerything I've heard about them makes me really respect them.
For what it's worth I completely agree with you.
Except for that whole sex card thing. Don't respect them for that.. then again they knocked that off in TW2 I believe.

I thought I'd really rather object to playing as the bony, white haired ponce but actually I discovered their chap was quite affable. The Angry One wrote...
Call me when they start making games that don't force you to play as a bony, white haired ponce and I'll be all over them.

The combat in witcher 1 sucked so terribly i never played the game. I heard that the witcher 2 combat though re looked at was similar, thus i gave it a pass. Shi* combat in combat heavy games = non starter.
yeah the combat in Witcher 1 took some getting used to, and it was not the best, I heard it was worse before the enhanced edition came out that fixed some parts of it.
But at least I find combat in Witcher 2 to be very fun, it is very hard at the beginning, but after some practice it gets very exciting, and for ones it is a game you actually should use all your abilites to fight or else it can be much harder.
Many people that has complained about the combat system in that game, often think they should not use any of the spells(signs) and alchemy buffs if they specialize in sword combat for instance, but it is like Jedi's in Star Wars, they might be lightsaber masters, but they still have to use the force from time to time. A Witcher is all about the combination of all these aspects, and that is what I found so great about the combat, they really managed to make that important.

CD Projekt: Independent company that can negotiate it's own publishing contracts.
BioWare: Company owned entirely by Electronic Arts and must concede all monetary, marketing, distribution, and support decisions through EA.
There's a huge difference between the two development companies.
Completely correct. But! They didn't have to go that way... and BioWare's case might just be the example for all small devs, like CDPR:)

I torrented the witcher 2 today to see if my computer can run it.
That's a negative. Oh well, guess I have to buy it on xbox instead of steam, much to my chagrin. The enhanced edition is going to absolutely kick ass though! Can't wait!
The Witcher 1 had an amazing story!.... And conclusion.
What specs do you have?
I ran W2 on a 5-y.o. Athlon X2, 4gigs and HD4850. Had to go medium at most, but still it looked awesome.

Remember the combat mechanics in Mass Effect 1?
Witcher 1 sucked in that for sure. It was ... different, but I was able to cope with it. What's important is the story. It made the combat less relevant. It just sucked me in completely. The combat turned out to be a bit less important in the end.

Both companies made big announcements today! What did they say? Let's see:
BioWare: we won't change our ending, but we'll pretend we like you, so we'll make you some cutscenes so you could just shut up. They are free, but you gotta wait 'till the summer.
CD Projekt: The Witcher 2 was pretty short, so we made a giant DLC that adds 4 hours of gameplay and 33 minutes of cutsenes and is free for everyone who bought the game. Plus, people who bought the physical copy of the game can have a GoG.com backup copy for free. Plus, there is also an iPhone and iPad app that tells the events of first Witcher. Like Mass Effect 2: Genesis DLC, only it's free. Oh, and we give away free GOG.com copies of Fallout to anyone in next 48 hours.
So, which company is superior in your opinion?
Looks like CD-Projekt will be my new go to RPG publisher/creator from here on out.

True. Witcher 2 can be demanding if you want impressive graphics. But even on low/medium it's nice to the eye.
I did just that and I really enjoyed the game. Even if sometimes FPS went belov 20...
