I own The Witcher and the Witcher 2. I love both. I'll be buying the Expanded Edition even though I know that I'm getting it for free.

But these companies and their circumstances are completely different.

The Witcher 2 is being updated for the Xbox release. Yes, this means that we PC players get extra stuff. If they weren't porting it, do you honestly think they would spend that much time making free stuff for us? No, we'd be paying for it just like we pay for EA DLC. The only reason they're doing it is to expand their consumer base. Which I'm totally okay with.

Bioware, on the other hand, has decided to give us some free DLC. I have no issue with this. They also make far more games than CDProjekt. They're a far bigger company with a far bigger userbase, and they've still decided to put out this DLC even though they could just make another game and have people snap that up. Bioware are also one of the most involved developers when it comes to the community.

So, strangely enough, different companies. Crazy, right?

CD Projekt doesn't have EA's leash on them.

CD Project have just 2 games, and one is worse than any Bioware game.

So, Bioware, of course.

Call me when they start making games that don't force you to play as a bony, white haired ponce and I'll be all over them.

To be fair, they're working within the story they chose.

That said, Baldur's Gate let you create your character, but that was a very long time ago, and a very different RPG.

It will be interesting to see what their next game will be. And how they approach the themes within their game.

Google "Witcher extended edition". They gave important and free stuff for their fans of the first game. Can you imagine current Bioware doing it?

No, they fixed a broken game. The extended edition added a mini-campaign which wasn't very fun and fixed a LOT of the terrible bugs that were in the first game.

And wasn't the Cerberus Network there for new players? I seem to recall us getting about 4 free DLC packages there. Not that they were all that great, admittedly. Most of the DLC for ME2 felt lazily tacked on for me - but at least the intent was there.

It's "enhanced", not "extended".

CD Projekt is certainly a great company, unfortunately their game isn't quite a great as their efforts. Not to say that the Witcher series isn't excellent, but it's just not on the same level of appeal as Mass Effect due to the source material. Regardless, they should be applauded for their passion in ensuring that we get the best product they're capable of giving.

Wait...... Are we really doing 'Company that has 2 games out' vs 'company that's been going for over 10 years'?

I'm sure The Witcher and The Witcher 2 are good games, but everything that involves medieval settings just kinda blends together for me at this point.

CDProjekt announced it from day 1 that they will be releasing many additional content to the game and that all these content would be free.

And Bioware isn't doing fans a favor with this ending dlc. They had to address the issue somehow, things have gotten way too much out of hand, and they're apparently doing the minimum they could about it hoping that it will save the day.

Lie. It was a completely playable game since release.

Lie. i didn't encounter any terrible bugs. One thing is downloading location time which is too long and one of the annoying things.

Because old players already paid for that.

Pal, you can not put CDProjekt's "enhanced edition" as greedy money suckers which Bioware is milking. The good example of that is The Witcher 1 enhanced edition WHICH IS FREE a Patch for original game owners and released after 3 months of original game.

I just ordered 360 version of Witcher 2,

I will down load the FREE DLC for ME3 and it will be my last interaction with BW games, they ruined ME series with the ending of ME3 and claification will not solving the HUGE issues the ending has.

Its unfixable now, they blew it, and so is BW relationship with a lot of thier customers who have supported them for a long long time.

Careful now, praise them to much and they will be the next one that EA consumes.

This isn't about comparing the two companies' histories. It is about comparing how those 2 companies are doing right now and I believe CDP is doing much better than Bioware.

Except the Extended Edition did more than give us a "mini campaign" and "fixed alot of bugs". It also gave us new animations and fanmade quests. Thats right. Fan. Made. The only thing that went wrong with TW1 was the stiff animations, which was fixed with the EE, which is free.

Unlike BioWare that only treats its customer base like a bunch of cows, ready for the milking, CDProjekt actually cares about their fans, enough to not bundle the game with DRM, offer them free DLC and actually listen to feedback, not censor them.

Oh, and both games have amazing gameplay, though TW2's is more awesome. Both games have impactful game decisions.

For us PC players, we've already gotten a bunch of DLC free, and a free expansion. We're getting another expansion when TW2 launches on the 360. Only a blind fool would decide to vote for BioWare in the future with their dollars.

It is never too late to enjoy great games. BTW, I highly recommand GOG.com they do an amazing job to patch up classic RPGs and test them in WIN7. They even patch up Bauldr's Gate II:)

Both companies made big announcements today! What did they say? Let's see:
BioWare: we won't change our ending, but we'll pretend we like you, so we'll make you some cutscenes so you could just shut up. They are free, but you gotta wait 'till the summer.
CD Projekt: The Witcher 2 was pretty short, so we made a giant DLC that adds 4 hours of gameplay and 33 minutes of cutsenes and is free for everyone who bought the game. Plus, people who bought the physical copy of the game can have a GoG.com backup copy for free. Plus, there is also an iPhone and iPad app that tells the events of first Witcher. Like Mass Effect 2: Genesis DLC, only it's free. Oh, and we give away free GOG.com copies of Fallout to anyone in next 48 hours.

So, which company is superior in your opinion?

CD Projekt FTW!!!! I bet Bioware is kicking themselves for letting them use their engine to create The Witcher 1 xD

Really 4 more hourse of gameplay? I did think the Witcher 2 was kind of short, but just figured that was because they where just polishing their shinny new engine off for the Witcher 3. Anyways let me give a big HELL YEA!!!! So looking forward to playing that again ^.^

I like fixed characters better than hollow character (personal simulacrum), having back story and predefined character doesn't ruin my enjoyment of playing them.

Also have to understand that Witcher 2 didn't launch without its own problems, and it took them months of small improvements before the enhanced edition was announced for release later this month. ME3 is still within first month of launch and quality content just doesn't materialize overnight.
