Yeah, and when CDPR puts a foot out of line, you'll turn on them, too.

I have no love for CDPR whatsoever because I can't really play their games due to personal preference.
I'm also not impressed with their juvenile approach to sexuality in TW1.

I have no issue with their overall practices when it comes to providing games for their customers. Problem?

Juvenile approach? Women weren't treated all that well in medieval times. Atleast the sexuality in The Witcher fits the setting compared to the unyielding turd that is ME3's ending.

Yeah yeah yeah The Witcher is tres accurate medieval setting.
With magic and elves, because we all know those really existed.

TW2 makes me hard.

I remeber playing TW1 after finishing ME2, I was a little let down that the improved combat didn't come with the same level of plot as ME1, and as soon as I started playing TW, I felt likt thise was the true succesor the ME1. Sure it had it's issues, but as did ME1, and nothing stopped it from being a great game.

I played TW2 on my laptop, could barely get my 30 fps, but man was i happy with the game, the visuals looked soo good, i never thought i would play a game that had such excellent lighting, the use of SSAO, everything i needed in the graphics department was there.

And now i look at the 360 version, and i'm am amazed once more, how the hell did they pull that off? I <3 CD Projekt, GOG is an awesome place to get your classics, a shame steam doesn't do this.

I love what they did with the RED engine, inhouse engines are alot better for the artists. Look at the Aurora engine they were working with, it was too crappy to deliver the product they wanted, graphically it all looked like ass.

Eh...Witcher 1's combat system had a few problems with it as well. The major problem being that Potions were required, so much so that I was surpised how gimpy Potions in Witcher 2 were unless Alchemy perks were taken.

Then there was the button clicking minigame, which for some was fine, but for me was a bit clunky. I like the Witcher 2's more Arkham City style of swordfights. Makes it seem more organic, and you don't really need to level up your character to be good at it. Skill based ala Demon's Souls is the way to go for me.

Witcher 1's difficulty really comes from the cumbersome menus, and the fact that Potions are very important, to the point where you better be herbing constantly and have a good supply before you tackle any dungeon. Witcher 2 difficulty comes from understanding the system, and getting better at the game.

It's like learning to ride a bike. You can't outlevel it, you can only get more comfortable with it.

Not sure what you mean! Now's a great time. Pick up the first game for dirt cheap and the 2nd one with all the extra free content.

Yep, there was total equality between sexes in Middle Ages. Women consisted 50% of the feudal army. They were knights like Cauthrien.
Also, in reality men and women had sex in clothes in Medieval.
Try harder next time. ;)

Both companies made big announcements today! What did they say? Let's see:
BioWare: we won't change our ending, but we'll pretend we like you, so we'll make you some cutscenes so you could just shut up. They are free, but you gotta wait 'till the summer.
CD Projekt: The Witcher 2 was pretty short, so we made a giant DLC that adds 4 hours of gameplay and 33 minutes of cutsenes and is free for everyone who bought the game. Plus, people who bought the physical copy of the game can have a GoG.com backup copy for free. Plus, there is also an iPhone and iPad app that tells the events of first Witcher. Like Mass Effect 2: Genesis DLC, only it's free. Oh, and we give away free GOG.com copies of Fallout to anyone in next 48 hours.

So, which company is superior in your opinion?

CD Projekt FTW!!!! I bet Bioware is kicking themselves for letting the use their engine to create The Witcher 1 xD

Really 4 more hourse of gameplay? I did think the Witcher 2 was kind of short, but just figured that was because they where just polishing their shinny new engine off for the Witcher 3. Anyways let me give a big HELL YEA!!!! So looking forward to playing that again ^.^

TW2 felt short because of the completely diffrent act 2. so kind of you can only ge 75% total gameplay on 1 playthru.

Yeah but it's a year after release now and they're still giving away free content updates.

as any game should be a test of skill and understanding of the systems and not just being 10 lvls higher than the max for that area.

Why I like the  Persona series so much - you can be a high lvl but if you get smacked with you characters weakness... the enemy with press turn you to death.   You have know what spell or attack to use against what... and some fights are just pure endurance fights.

I myself played on normal with only using health potion + occasional see in the dark potion.
Its really importan to use correct type of sword though.

Like getting constantly interrupted during combat by enemy swipes. That really pissed me off. :|

But they fixed that apparently in the last patch so I'm ecstatic.

Yea I had two playthroughs. One with import of the squirrels (I know thats spelled wrong ^.^) and the other with the templars, and sided with the apporiate parties in TW2. Still excited to see what they added considering even though the game was short it was one of the best gaming expirences I've had in quite a bit.

TAO has a point, really, when it comes to the 'it's realistic' arguement.

Besides, the realism arguement is pretty flimsy in a game based on the medeival era where you don't die from a paper cut. Don't even get me started on the 'mud' streets.

Because I claimed Dragon Age was a realistic medieval setting when?
I'm simply tired of people stamping a middle ages setting with REALISTIC just because it has misogyny. Apparently wizards, monsters and elves are okay but not treating women equally? SHENANIGANS.

We can compare the two once Bioware's had a year to show us what they have planned for ME3, but it's hard to beat a free enhanced edition under EA's DLC business model. Although that depends on how one feels about the amount of content in the standard edition of Witcher 2 compared to ME3 at launch.

I support CD because of their ethics, they are one of few still out there doing what is "right."

Regardless I wish them the best in the future with their console launches.

Game is based on Sapkowski's novels "Witcher". The setting is dark, cruel and realistic. And game transports that spirit from novels really well.
All that TAO wrote was about elves in the setting that make it unrealistic. Dragon Age has them and dwarves too. *Yawn*  I think adding more realistic details would've made Origins even better game.

Your argument made no sense, you were arguing agaist childish/immature behavior and yet you go on to say to counter that the points were realistic (which in reality they are), that it had fantasy elements which make it unrealistic...

Irony.

An immature argument in response. Just because the game doesn't share your views doesn't make it bad. A handful of liberal hippies use the same logic on me for ME3.

I would love to see what CD Projekt Red does with the sci-fi genre. The fantasy Witcher series has been great so far. At this point, they already have my money for TW3. They may not know it yet, but $60-80 is theirs.

With only two titles, they still have some ways to go before they reach the top. I just like the direction they are headed.

LOL'd HARD, talk about missing the point....

TW setting is spellXsword with the inclusion of medievalism. That doesn't mean it portrays the midieval times exactly, it means that it uses midieval technology, combined with the poli-social structure of it's time as a model to shape it's spellXsword setting. Not to mention the addition of modern elements such as gene alteration, mutation and modification.

It's a FANTASY RPG at it's core. Meanwhile ME started out as a Science-Fiction game, and suddendly had nigh-fantasy elements thrown in there because Mac Walters believed the game should be "mysterious". Well that's not what ME1 was, it was SCIFI in the veins of Star Trek, but over the course of the trilogy, it turned into Star Wars, a science-fantasy.

I love your statement about the main character, as it clearly shows you have no idea what you are talking about.

Wait...I thought I already had the enhanced PC edition...they're giving me MORE for my money? Damn I love these Polish peeps.

Every time I check back with what CD Projekt RED is doing, I'm pleasantly surprised. It's especially nice as an adult to be treated to a game that isn't shy about the M-rating. I get pretty tired of North American attitudes toward sex and violence in their art and entertainment; Europeans culture is more mature.
