The approach is not as juvenile as it seems. They were making the game on a pretty damn old engine and full-on sex cutscenes would look terrible, so they decided to settle for showing nicely drawn pictures instead. It's not a "collectable card mini-game", as people say - there are no quests, associated with it, it doesn't reward you at all and well, there are neither "1 out of X laid" nor a special screen where you can look all of the sexual encounters you had and those that weren't yet done are half-transparent, or something like that. It's not as bad as people say. Just a picture and nothing else. The Angry One wrote...

Yeah, and when CDPR puts a foot out of line, you'll turn on them, too.
I have no love for CDPR whatsoever because I can't really play their games due to personal preference.
I'm also not impressed with their juvenile approach to sexuality in TW1.
I have no issue with their overall practices when it comes to providing games for their customers. Problem?

TW setting is spellXsword with the inclusion of medievalism. That doesn't mean it portrays the midieval times exactly, it means that it uses midieval technology, combined with the poli-social structure of it's time as a model to shape it's spellXsword setting. Not to mention the addition of modern elements such as gene alteration, mutation and modification.
Yes yes yes Sapkowski copy-pasted medieval europe into a fantasy setting. What does he want? A medal?
Again the point you're missing is that it is not "realistic medieval".
Realistic medieval would probably involve Geralt getting burned at the stake for having weird eyes.
My original point in all this is misogyny or no, CDPR were extremely juvenile with their sex card collection, which unless my history classes fail me is not an authentic medieval past time.
Edit: Why do I keep forgetting stuff. Since they didn't follow this up in TW2 I literally have NO ISSUE with them (other than I find male characters in RPGs unappealing) so why are we arguing?
About sex cards - I already said about that, it's not a "collectable card mini-game", just a replacement for sex cutscenes (they didn't do those due to old engine) that looks worse than it is. They didn't follow up on it in TW2 because they had a shiny new self-made engine and they could do really good cutscenes with it.

I have nothing much to add to the discussion other than an reiteration that people should buy both Witcher 1 and Witcher 2. Fantastic games from an excellent company.
I would love to see the VA's from Bioware's books do their stuff with a CD Projekt game, since I think the bioware VA crew are amongst the best around.
