 title's question

my pc is a backstab cun rogue, trying to decide between assassin/bard and assassin/duelist.  using leliana as archer ranger/bard, and was wondering if bard songs stack, i.e. both using song of courage = double the attack bonus?

I'd like to know this as well, seeing as how a new post asking the same thing pops up every other day I'm hoping that persistance will eventually pay off and give us an answer.

i think you can only sing one song at a time, so there's no way to stack them

Two bards. The same songs wont stack, but two bards could sing two different songs.

Try it and find out. I imagine they will. The tooltip doesn't state as much, and I don't know of anything in the code that causes one to get removed when you cast another.

The problem is even the boost from one song doesn't show in the inventory or in the character window afaict.

The buff effects should show up at the bottom left of the screen if they're active (and two different sparkly glowy effects, too).

is that so? a shame then. cuz i know something like a champion's Rally stacks(tested) so i assumed bard songs would too. however, thinking about it, bard songs are always on regardless of distance while the shouts have a radius so i could see them work differently.

well then i guess when i get to song of courage for both of my rogues ill test it out and see if theres stacking or not... just wanted to know if anyone knew already, as testing it out myself requires waiting for a second specialization or doing multiple respecs

edit: can anyone else attest to bard songs not stacking?  if this is true i dont think running 2 bards is worth it (for my intended party)

I loaded a save and tested it with the Song of Courage and they did stack.

Here's what I got on my character:

My cunning: 35 (31 base)
Leliana's cunning: 38 (30 base)

No one is singing:
defense: 108
damage 29.1/28.6
crit: 32.8/32.5

Only my char is singing
defense: 114
damage 32.4/31.9
crit: 38.3/38

Both my char and Leliana are singing
defense: 119
damage:  35.8/35.3
crit: 44.1/43.8

Edit: while it looks like my singing gives a higher boost to defense, in reality it really doesn't. It is just that way because of the roundings on the character sheet.

Hmmm... 3 bards and a champion, 3 champions and a bard. 2 champions and 2 bards maybe ? I'm unsure... there's potential in this

What I disliked about a champion in my party was that his rally aura would break my character's stealth. Not sure if this was intended or whether it is a bug. Rally description certainly doesn't mention anything about that.

i never thought songs can stack, i think i would set my 2nd spec as a bard instead of my previous plan on being duelist, thank you so much for the info.. two song of courage would be totally awesome

hm song of valor does stack, well it accually becomes better then 1+1=2, more like 1+1=3
song of courage has critical chance stack as a a+b+c, and a damage stack as % a+b+c
attack bonus does not stack however.
oh and i heard a rumor that only the pc can be champion. but just get shale with ya.

Ps you will do lots of damage, but it is still inferior to 3 mages+ shale in buff mode.

my guess is haste stacks as well though, if you want to try out some crazy 3 arcane warrior mage play thoughs.
Ps get leliana with those 3 mages and pump cunning since the song becomes much better with higher values.
PS since the best buffs have mana drain leliana is a blessing and she should be held away from combat.

in this game most buffs do stack.
just remember each mage can only use 1 weapon buff.

my very weak light mage team has rogue 33/33 36% critical chance,110 attack
sten is very good since haste works wonders on 2 handed swords. 82 damage, 26% critical chance, 90 attack
morrigan dies easily because she lacks health
leliana does 40 damage/25% critical chance 78 attack..
it does do alot of damage but it can in no way compare to a couple of well buildt mages.

I always have both Song of Valor and Song of Courage going. I've gotten used to seeing both purple sparkles AND a pink cloud.

It does stack somewhat. It stacks for whoever casts the Song of Courage first. For example, my char sings -- both he and Leliana get a boost too attack. Then Leliana sings -- only my char gets a boost to attack. This is probably a bug.

That rumor is not true. In my game, I successfully turned one of my companions into a champion.

awesome, now knowing that songs stack i still have to decide if i want two songs of courage or just one and have the duelist bonuses
