Hey, I'm thinking about trying my first insanity run ever, and I was wondering, if I chose Setinel, could I use Defense Matrix as my bonus power, and if I specced into damage protection for both powers, would their protective powers overlap? I am not concerned with the double power recharge delay effect, as I'm fairly effective with weaponry, and I know how to use Squadmate powers effectively.

Yes, it overlaps. If you are thinking about this build, go look at Kronner's tank and throw bombing build.
