IT is not his creation. IT mostly sprung up into existence because of all the in-game elements given in all three games in the trilogy. He was far from the first to connect the dots, though he did give a lot of effort to explain it to some people which should be applauded.

So yeah, IT IS Bioware's creation. People just do not want to see it.

Pretty sure s/he was the first person to turn it into something concrete though.  Doesn't matter if people were toying with the idea before.  The OP made it real by actually thinking about it critically and then forumulating it in a serious way.

Wait a minute, I'm confused. When did Bioware confirm IT was false? Because the DLC announcement doesn't do that. Adding more clarity to the end is what I wanted as an IT believer. Saying there won't be changing the ending is what they already said, IT being true means the ending doesn't need changing just further clarified?

Really did I miss something?

I just can't believe from all the comment Bioware made about the ending that ending minus IT is what they menat and all the clues for IT were accidental? I just don't buy it. Sorry but I have more faith in Bioware.

So here it is.
I'm sorry I pushed indoctrination theory.
I'm sorry for the false hope I may have gave to you.
I'm sorry for when I portrayed IT as truth and not theory.
I'm sorry for implying that people who could not see it were confused
I'm sorry for saying you were wrong for thinking bad writing was the problem (turns out it is)

So there. To all of those who got confort from thinking IT would solve thier confusion, i'm sorry for letting you down and plopping you back into the same pit of sorrow you came from, now with even more dissapointment.

I originally wanted to say sorry to Bioware, but they will never get that response now.

You have gained more respect from me for admitting and apologizing.  We butted heads a few times.

Now, what sorta beer you drink, mate?  I'll buy the first round! :D

The only thing you did was believe in Bioware and their ability to tell a great story, and I think we all believed that.

Feels like we are knee deep in the darkest hour.

Bioware has refused to outright deny IT. I dont know why they choose to continue to avoid taking a hard stand, but ive been tired of speculating for the past week now. I was really looking forwards to confirm/deny at pax. Their initial reasoning of not wanting to discuss to give people time to finish has been defunct fot a while now

I still haven't actually seen it explained how today's announcement did anything but rain on the parade of those who screamed "Hold the Line!" and asked for completely redone endings.

In regards to everything else, it's neutral - especially when we know nothing about this "Extended Cut" other than that it's adding new cinematics, which (believe it or not) doesn't preclude additional gameplay.

Precisely this.

"No added gameplay" is not confirmed. Jessica Merizan even DENIED it on her Twitter.

It wouldn't take MONTHS to make some cutscenes & epilogues. Have a little faith.

wow are people still clinging to the idea of bioware shoving in IT into this dlc.

it's an EPILOGUE, it's just going to clarify the ending as is, indoc theory would change the whole game not only the ending.

There was never indoc. theory. , they said they aren't changing the end

False. Indoctrination changes how you perceive the game. It never required anything more than an extension to the ending. Extension we are getting.

Its the not adding gameplay that sealed it. IT didnt have to "change" anything but without a little bit of gameplay added it cannot be given any justice. This will be a very brief and very free "let us spell it out for you" conclusion.

Believe me I wish it was otherwise.

Agreed. It doesn't matter which side of this issue you fall on ( IT or more/better endings ) BioWare is basically saying "We listened but we're not changing anything. It's still pick A, B, or C."

ya, they didnt say "stop talking about It" but the way PR works is, they tell you more then what they will give. If they had extra gameplay included, you can be sure they would have said extra gameplay included. They said extra cinematics, which can be interpreted as pretty much " we will show some Krogans kicking ass in the end and maybe some explaination on what happend to the fleet"

Look, this needs to be said, and if you naysayers don't like it, you can go to hell.

What these people are doing that read BioWare's statement is the EXACT SAME THING they accused the IT people of. They accused us of twisting things to fit our agenda. Well nowhere in that statement does it say that IT isn't true or that we won't get voice acting or whatever your beef with the statement is.

You're twisting what they said to fit YOUR perspective of how badly they screwed up. YOU want to believe that so here you are, twisting and nitpicking everything to be bad. If you're doing this, I'm calling you out.

You're a hypocrite.

Hate if you want, it's the truth.

Yep. This can actually be done with additional cutscenes, since the HINTS are already there.

I can't believe people are still hanging on to this.

SO we're saying that Bioware planned this from the start, left all these clues, but now needs a few months to flesh it all out? Really?

If you percieve this as a pro-IT thread then I think you need to read the OP again. But Bioware did say they had the idea of doing a indoctrination ending as late in developement as november. So I believe the clues were put in though the punchline was left out in the end by Hudson and Walters.

I wasn't really talking to you, even though I never bought into it, I thought your presentation was well done.  But it seems to be people still clinging to the idea/hope this is going to happen.

All I'm saying is that if Bioware had planned this, they would have already had the IT ending ready, they wouldn't need a couple of months to flesh it out.  If they just now decided to run with, then maybe, but not if it was the planned ending from the start.

Well, a) I don't really believe in anything marketing says, they seem pretty divorced from the actual going-ons of the development team, and B) Jessica's explicitly denied that there is no additional gameplay. The fact that this isn't going to be released until summer also lends credence to that.

Its over. If IT was true it would have been planned. They would be releasing it earlier then this summer and they would have told us specifically that "extra gameplay" is included.  They would be happy to unviel this. They did not.

And he didn't say there was.  What he did do, however, was read between the lines.  Which is PR's biggest nightmare.

I was pretty strong against IT and got tired of the spamming, hijacking of forums, whatever.  But YOU have nothing to apologize for.

If it's any consolation, you have more integrity than Walters or Hudson - at least you have the ability to admit you were wrong about something.  And you know what?  I almost wish you had been right - although I didn't care for Indoctrination Theory, it was still better than the drivel we were given.

Kudos to you for your creativity and humility.

Sources. Use them. Never did BioWare say anything of the sort. They've merely been talking much and saying little.

The epilogue is a storyteller's comment. In it they explicitly answer the question, "did that all really happen?" with "yes... it all happened." If you have subtitles turned on, it's literally spelled out for you.

chapterstorycharactersplot has ended

Pretty sure it says epilogue is just the closing that wraps up loose ends or hints at sequel. I do not see anywhere in the definition that its the "story tellers comment" that "yes it all happened". If thats the case whats the Prologue? The thing that tells you 'is this really going to happen? yes it will happen' ?

I don't remember you at all (I didn't look at the IT-related threads much). However, one thing I want to point out is that (believing in) the IT never made me feel any better. The bottom line is, at the end of the day if you believed in the theory, you also had to believe Bioware withheld the real ending for their own selfish reasons. Either to charge us for it later, or perhaps to draw out more publicity for the game (and thus more sales). Regardless of whatever that reason was, it wasn't for us, their loyal fans; or they would have included it in the main game.

Also want to say that IT is not completely dead. They have yet to acknowledge, directly, whether or not the IT is true. Personally, I'm in "see it to believe it" mode at this point. I'll patiently wait until an official statement or the extended cut DLC disproves the IT.
