True but I trust that bioware will make one and that it will be a good game. If you don't Raizo that is your call but some of us trust bioware that they will do the franchise right.

Well Bioware didn't exactly didn't exactly impress me with ME3, quite the opposite actually, I can't remember ever being more dissappointed by a game in my life. I hate almost everything about ME3.

Out of all the Bioware games I have ever played ( ME1, DA:O, DA: Awakenings, ME2, DA2, ME3 ) the only one that I thought was truly great was ME2. I am not in a posistion where I can automatically trust Bioware to deliver the goods since when I look back on thier gaming legacy all I see are is either mediocrity or great ideas that did not live up to 'thier' potential.

I don't know anything about it yet. We don't even know if the next Me game will be ME4 or just some random game set in the ME Universe, we also don't know what genre of game it will be, will it be a rpg/tps hybrid like ME1 to ME3 or will it be a completley different genre alltogether ( RTS, FPS, MMO, sim, etc ). I think you're getting ahead of yourself if your going to comit yourself to buying the next ME game if you don't know anything about where Bioware are planning on taking the franchise.

^^This.

Well that depends on how it looks, of course.

If it looks good, sure. As far as the ending thing goes, I think BioWare will be VERY careful not to let anything like that happen again, as it has been pretty much a big ol' sh*tstorm for them.

Nope.

In any meaningful sense, Single player gaming is dying fast, and will be pretty much dead by the time "ME4" (if) ever shows.  Co-op and multiplayer is the way of the future.  Everyone has to buy a copy if they wanna play.  Can't do either if you just lend the game to your buddy for the SP experience.

Money talks and bullsh!t walks and as far as EA is concerned SP is nothing but bullsh!t.

Mass Effect is dead - they shot it in the head in an attempt to put it down, and SP - especially from EA - is being bludgeoned to death as hard and as fast as they can.

I doubt ME4 will ever be anything more than talk, and if it does materialize at some future point the only thing it'll share with the franchise is the name.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. Yes, EA announced policy is that no game will be greenlit without a MP component. They're not hiding it, they're shouting it in every gaming convention. And they give developers a choice: either do the game the way we want it, or will take your IP and give it to another studio that will do what we want. We can expect that to continue as long as frank is CEO. We just need to weather it. But saying SP is dead? The MP maid it's best shot at killing off SP with WOW 8 years ago. Apocalyptic prophecies about the death of SP has been made since the invention of MMO's; As does the prophecies of PC gaming dying because of consoles. So far SP is the largest portion of gaming (RPG's not as much) and PC share is not only bigger than any console but actually growing. There'll allways be people like who prefer to do their socializing in a pub or a caffee shop while reminiscing with their friends about the days of yesteryear, and their gaming by themselves. When it comes to MP there is a saying that I think fits best to my perspective: "hell is other people"; and I'm not alone.
The ME MP is the only MP I ever played (not including MMO's), and vey probably ,might be the only one I will. To have so much of my gaming experience dependant on the capricions of other people, often complete strangers? Unacceptable. Image IPB

Depends on how much they pay me for it.

jkjk xD I may, but as I went all-out making sure I got all DLC for me3 in the assumption that it would be the last one, I may not really go the extra mile with it.

Well to be fair, Bioware has allways been very responsible and restraint with their DLC's. Look at darksiders 2. THQ went completely overboard: 2 bucks for one armor, 2 bucks for a single weapon. Talk about nickle and diming. I blame Blizzard, whose rampent greed destroyed diablo 3.

no, i dont know why ME3 was so bad, maybe EA forced them to rush development and release faster than they would have liked, or maybe they did just sell out i cant say, but the fact remains that with ME3 they managed to make a game so incredibly awful it taints the experience of the entire trilogy, and making another one wouldnt return the series to its RPG roots it would be an even more simplistic dull version created purely to milk every last drop of money out of the people that still hope ME can be saved

Probably not. The sheer amount of contradictions in ME3, plotholes, invalidating so much from previous games, doesn't put much hope in my eyes for the next game. Also, without Shepard, for me it isn't Mass Effect. I won't make bonds with newer characters. I want Liara. I want Wrex. I want Garrus. I want Tali. Etc.Etc.Etc. Nothing will ever change that.

Mass Effect 3's target audience is people who enjoy these types of movies

If it's anything like that, absolutely not. I was very underwhelmed with ME3 and actually felt like the game wasn't aimed at RPG fans like myself. It went from Star Wars/Star Trek to Transformers/Armageddon. Bioware (under EA management) turned a very promising new vision of a sci-fi RPG into just another Michael Bay video game.

ME2 was great despite how much of the RPG had been cut from the final game. The story wasn't that srong, but the characters and locations more than made up for it. ME3 fails in both key areas, but manages to have enogh gunfire and explosions to entice the lowest-common-denominator into paying full price for a game that rarely asks the player to think.

Unless Mass Effect 4 (or whatever they end up calling it) returns to it's roots, I have zero interest.

If it's a prequel - forget it. Otherwise I will be very cautious. Best thing to do would be to move it forward a couple of hundred years if I am being honest. This is Bioware, once a character is done, it's done. See the outcry about not playing the Warden in Dragon Age 2 (actually if they had called it anything other than DA2 there would not have been such an kerfuffle over it's poor quality overall). Likewise, it's not really Mass Effect without Shep, but Bioware are digging their heels in about that awful ending so there you go.

this perception by gamers and the media that some how buying, even if the business practices are unethical, makes you more of a fan than any one else quite frankly is mind boggling and it needs to stop.

Theres no doubt that you are a valuable consumer for bioware but thats it you are a valuble consumer for bioware as a result of buying future products. It does not however, in any shape or form, makes you "more" of a fan or that you somehow "love" the series more than anyone else.

The other issue is the fact that people need to appreciate video game companys (or there said products) more is harmful for consumers everywhere especially considering you are paying to play the product. The only way this mindset might possibly work is if the product was free, not free to play, not bonuses with a price, not compensation for a past wrong, actually free. When you pay for a product its up to the company to meet certain standards and even expectations and if it does not (or even it does) appreciating does not help any one, not even bioware.

I love seeing how this post progressed over time. 7 months ago, everyone was rational about it. 7 months later, somehow the presale hype have kicked in again with a minority of fanboys and girls, who are just going at it on every. single. thread. Apparently all the normal people have left to do more important things. This forum is brain dead.

If its epic like Mass Effect was until now and (most important) has Multiplayer (and even MOAR important) Story Coop (what easily could have been made since ME1 up to ME3 due to you having 2 squad members with you at nearly all stages of the game). Then Yes. If it has no Multiplayer, then NOPE.
